This post is the first for this blog; but in truth this blog itself is a 'spin-off' of an already well-established blog I own that has already surpassed a decade of existence.
I was suddenly forced last night to render my original blog the status of being private; and as a result, no one can access it anymore.
I am in fact its sole reader.
But I will not delve into why I did this. It became vitally essential.
All else I will offer is that I am presently 69 years old, and have had a bad case of flu since January 14.
Something else changed for me today apart from the private status of my original (and formerly public) blog. I also changed the password to my EarthLink E-mail account (Webmail) ─ an account that I have had since the year 2000, and which has always had the original password.
The compelling reason for the change was this article that I read early this morning:
TechTalk.PCPitstop.com
This alternate article has the courtesy lacking in the one above ─ this one identifies the data breach source:
PCWorld.com
When I visited HaveIBeenPwned.com and entered my Earthlink E-mail address, the result yielded several instances of what I suppose are past breaches affecting my EarthLink Webmail ─ although I do not understand how any but the breach of EarthLink.net itself could matter.
How could the other mentioned breaches involve my password to my EarthLink Webmail? I never handed it out to those other parties.
No matter ─ it was enough that EartLink.net had at one point been hacked, and my specific E-mail account details seem to have been among those potentially harvested.
And so now after 19 years, I have a new EarthLink Webmail password.
Another important article I read this morning involves the version of Windows that I have on this computer ─ I had managed to successfully fight off Microsoft's attempts a couple or so years ago to upgrade my computer's Windows 7 to Windows 10 when the roll-out of Windows 10 was being offered for free.
So I have been working with Windows 7 ever since...but now all Microsoft updates to Windows 7 are set to terminate as of January 14 next year ─ in other words, I have less than another year to be able to keep my operating system up to date and secure:
TechTalk.PCPitstop.com
As I grow older, more and more seems to make life that much less palatable.
At least I haven't experienced shingles!
If I was one of those who have suffered with these outbreaks of the zoster virus, then I might find the following article of some interest since I certainly would not care to take prescriptions such as the dreadful Shingrix vaccine:
HSIonline.com
That website isn't selling any sort of Ravensara aromatica product, so despite the bombast in favour of the essential oil, here is likely more than a little truth to the claims for it.
My wife was diagnosed with a somewhat mild case of shingles just a few years ago, and I don't believe she had yet hit the age of 40.
I say "somewhat mild," but of course I cannot describe how she actually felt. And obviously, she did seek some medical attention ─ so there must have been some degree of unpleasantness involved.
Anyway, do your own research on the potential that may be held by the oils of this plant. I did a fast search for information on my own, but the sources for the data all seemed to be involved in sales of this and other essential oils.
I feel like spotlighting one further health-related article ─ this one strongly advances why too many kids today need to be outside and actively engaged physically:
DrMicozzi.com
I have a 21-year-old stepson who seems to me to be a prime example of what can come of a formerly very active child who too early embraced the physical decay inherent in becoming a computer / Internet addict.
I now conclude this virgin post with two photos taken by my wife nearly a year ago when she and her two sons arranged a small reunion in Bali with five of their Thailand family members.
Both photos were probably taken on January 30, 2018; and the first features my wife performing a selfie:
Normally I blog extensively ─ that is, each post tends to be extremely long.
That actually has not changed ─ it's just that this post is but an excerpt that I will link to from a post at my newly private blog. So when taken in conjunction with the entire content at that hidden post, I am still creating rather massive posts.
How I rue that I had to hide that blog and all that it contained after more than 10 years as an online presence; but the choice was the only option open to me, apart from just deleting the blog entirely.
