A Deceptive Vegetarian Study

My younger brother and I are working our way through The Walking Dead's season nine after he's home from wherever he's been drinking, so the entertainment is sufficiently involving that he has been successfully retaining consciousness all evening.

I have grown unaccustomed to that ─ of late, he had been passing out for several consecutive evenings before having one wherein he stayed conscious. There have been a couple of stretches of over a week where he has passed out.

Since I am the only one who can operate our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box, this series is keeping me up into the midnight hour ─ and drinking two cans of the strong (8% alcohol) beer that I keep in stock, to boot.

Last evening we went through episodes 11 through 14, so only two remain now.

And then I reckon we'll be back to normal ─ nothing much else will likely keep his brain occupied from folding up into oblivion.

It was after 3:30 a.m. when I rose overnight just to turn on and log back into my computer to have it set for later. I returned to bed and lapsed into some sleep, for it was nearly an hour later when I next checked the time.

Intending to get to work on the day's content assignment for the new post I am constructing at one of my six hosted websites, I came here to my computer ─ and found the "Blue Screen of Death."

With no other option, I forced a shutdown and then logged back in. And since I had a bill payment to mail that is due next Monday, I readied and headed off on the short walk of a block at most to mail the payment in a mailbox.

Getting out so early after 5;00 a.m. honestly felt good, and I was reminded of my younger self who used to walk for hours in the nights ─ the only reason I ever liked day walking was because of the exposure I got to sunlight.

There has always been something about the cool, moist night air, and the relative silence ─ and also the anonymity I am able to assume that is not possible in the discerning light of the busy day.

It made me question God yet again ─ why am I kept in this debtors' prison? My home has become like a zoo's cage; and all that was ever natural and wholesome about me is withering away, leaving room only for corruption to replace it.

Anyway, I got my almost pleasant chore done, and was soon back at home and working on that website post. I was not completed and able to return to bed until a little after 8:00 a.m.

My eldest stepson never got up to go to work today; and I don't think his younger brother worked today, either. However, he may have had an afternoon shift that I never noticed him leave to keep.

It was flawlessly sunny day!

I did not get too much more sleep following that return to bed, and was awake barely by 9:30 a.m. I lazed in bed for a time, and then rose.

At 10:00 a.m. I joined my younger brother in the living room to put our Android TV Box into play and call up some more interesting fare than the programming he has to settle for with the basic cable package we subscribe to.

I had a movie in mind ─ the third in a series. We had seen the previous two movies on T.V. over the years, but had never been exposed to this final incarnation: Jeepers Creepers 3.

The first movie was horrifying, and the second came quite close. But this one was more like a battle against some sort of alien being rather than some manner of demonic monster.

And only at its conclusion did it dawn on me that it really wasn't a sequel to the second movie; rather, it was supposed to predate the events of the second movie, for I recognized the implications of the waiting big school bus that one of the teen characters ─ all decked out in his varsity jacket ─ was rushing off to catch.

Will there be a fourth movie? It's hard to imagine if filming is going to continue being so problematic. After all, the first movie was released in 2001, and the second one is 2003. This movie never came out until 2017.

How long will it take until a fourth gets produced?

My brother never sought his bed rest until near 1:00 p.m. By then I felt too hungry and short on sleep to get at the day's scheduled backyard tool-shed exercises, so I had a light meal and sought my own bed.

I did nap. And my brother was gone for the afternoon when I emerged from my bedroom.

I still didn't feel able to exercise, so I decided to take some Sun first. But this time I did things a little differently.

I had not yet exposed my back to the Sun this year, and I determined that it was time ─ the day was too brilliant not to.

And thus it was that at 3:03 p.m. I had stretched out on the backyard lawn while I was attired in just cutoffs. I put in just over a half-hour of this exposure of my back, although not all of it was while I was stretched out. I spent the final portion of that session just standing with my back to the Sun.

Then I visited the tool-shed.

It was almost too warm inside to exercise, and I was already thirsty. My final set of exercises required a much longer break than I usually take, for by then I was overtaxed due to the heat of the shed.

Then when done, I had a good drink of water in the house; and then I came back outside to slouch down in a deck- or lawn-chair while exposing my front to the Sun ─ again, for just over a half-hour.

My afternoon is now just about expired, but I've recounted my day thus far adequately enough for this post.

I want to direct some attention to recent published research concerning the value of a plant-based diet in reducing heart disease deaths by 10%.

Here are some typical articles commenting on that research:

Healthline.com

CookingLight.com

NutritionInsight.com

MindBodyGreen.com

It was a very large study involving many thousands of people over a period of a dozen years.

But did you notice which diets the healthy plant-based diet had the 10% reduction in heart disease fatalities over?

Take another look ─ three diets were involved...but none of the other two diets involved animal products.

So really, the research had nothing at all to do with the diets of people who eat dairy products and meat. Thus, the 10% reduction in heart disease did not at all mean that the plant-based diet was healthier than the diets of non-vegetarians who are also careful about choosing quality foods; but that wee fact sure was not apparent when any of the articles were read, was it?

Yet that's why everyone just naturally assumes.

I was twigged onto that little tidbit by this article:

My gosh! I have just chatted briefly with my eldest stepson, and was given some unexpected news.

His mother has been over in Thailand for more than a month now, visiting her mother.

I had heard my youngest stepson sharing in a video call with her last evening while my brother and I were watching our shows, so I queried the older lad as to when their mother might be returning?

I had a video chat with her two evenings ago, but she did not say, nor did I ask. All she said was that she would see me "soon."

Well, it seems that her flight back arrives at Vancouver International Airport late Thursday evening. I don't quite feel ready fr her return ─ odd to say.

I am going to close this post with a few photos that were taken over a year ago when my wife's niece got married on February 25, 2018.

I suspect that the photos were probably taken at some venue in the city of Udon Thani.

That is my wife hugging her niece ─ the groom stands at the right, and the bride's father (my wife's brother-in-law) ─ is at the left:

I have no idea who the man and child are in the next two photos:
