Important Medication Updates for Type 2 Diabetes and High Blood Pressure

Ere my younger brother was home last evening from wherever he had been drinking, I was watching an episode of Black Mirror called "Hang the DJ." My youngest stepson arrived home during it and said something that I could not quite discern, but I presumed that he was saying that his mother was about to come home.

So feigning that I understood, I enquired, "Coming here?" He affirmed.

She had been over in Thailand for better than a month, and I had been told earlier in the week by my eldest stepson that she was due to arrive at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this past Thursday evening.

She has a 'second home' somewhere in Vancouver, so when she never came here Thursday evening nor overnight, I presumed that she had instead gone to Vancouver.

But now it seemed that she was finally coming here, and was probably going to be spending the night. Yet I didn't quite feel prepared for her arrival and presence.

That episode of Dark Mirror that I watched featured an actress who seemed quite familiar to me, but I could not even begin to understand why.

She seemed to be of mixed race ─ probably mostly White and Black.

Incidentally, my brother despises the series, so I tend to watch it by myself when he is not yet here.

Anyway, it was not until I researched the episode and found that her name is Georgina Campbell did I realize that I knew her from the T.V. series Krypton.

I always find it very interesting how seeing someone out of their familiar context can so often make identification troublesome.

My brother didn't arrive home until toward 9:00 p.m. I was tempted to vacate the living room and leave him to himself, expecting that he was 'stinking drunk' and thus ill company.

But if my wife was coming home later, then there would be no possibility that I was going to be able to just go to bed early and actually fall asleep ─ especially in the heat wave that we have been experiencing the past several days.

And so I remained up, resigned to watching the final two episodes of The Walking Dead that remained for him and I in season nine.

I use our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box to fetch the shows that we watch; and since my brother doesn't understand its operation, that task is mine alone.

As much as I wanted to see those two episodes, I was further reluctant because if my wife arrived home during either of them, I would have to forsake the episode, yet leave it running for my brother to keep watching.

To shorten this account, my wife never did show up. So her youngest son likely had been telling me that she was only arriving at YVR that evening, and had not gotten back a day earlier as my eldest stepson had led me to believe.

That being so, she then must have been picked up and gone to where she stays in Vancouver; and it will quite likely be today when she makes an appearance here at home.

I want to return to those two episodes of The Walking Dead, for an unexpected key event is still unexplained where I am concerned, and thus is not making too much sense.

A new threat our heroes face is being posed by a group being called "The Whisperers," who are led by a murderous woman who only wants to be called "Alpha."

Somehow, her people managed to capture seven of the current Walking Dead regulars, but I do not see how. I say that because at least some of them were at the first annual fair that the four Walking Dead communities were fielding for themselves, and I cannot imagine how they were abducted and taken away without being noticed.

One of those was young Henry, the stick-fighting teenager whom we have practically watched grow up over recent seasons.

All seven of the captives were apparently killed, along with three members of a group who called themselves "The Highwaymen" who had shown up and sacrificed themselves in a bid to free the captives.

"The Highwaymen" at least managed to free a few of the captives, and that allowed everyone to fight to the death instead of dying helplessly as was otherwise to have been their fates.

No explanation was given explaining how Henry ─ or any other of those captives who may have been abducted at the fair ─ had been overcome and spirited away by "The Whisperers" without anybody noticing.

And that bothers me.

My brother was so 'stupid drunk' I doubt that he remembers much at all of the two episodes, but that of course is his chosen condition ─ no one else is making him kill his brain like he does.

It was probably around 12:30 a.m. when I was into bed. And for a change, I remained there for longer than has been usual in a good while ─ I think that I manged just over four hours in bed before finally caring enough about the time to have myself a look.

I had shut down my computer before going to bed, so I rose to turn it back on and log back into it; but I returned to bed to allow the machine some peace to fully load and warm up.

By 5:00 a.m. or so, I was here and soon enough at work on the day's content assignment for the post I have under production at one of my six hosted websites.

I remained at the job until I had completed that assignment, and by then it was after 8:00 a.m. ─ so back to bed I went for some further sleep.

I remained abed until barely after 11:00 a.m., rising to find my younger brother was downstairs at the dining table involved in his coffees and the Saturday morning edition of the Vancouver Sun that I subscribe to.

By that time yesterday, my youngest stepson had left to go to work for his afternoon shift. I had heard him respond to my brother last evening that he had to work today as well, so perhaps he was already gone if his shift has remained constant.

I fixed up my day's second hot caffeinated beverage and brought it upstairs here to my computer, at which point I suspect that my eldest stepson had emerged from his sleeping area for what was likely the first time today.

My brother and I were never to exchange a word.

He eventually sought his bed rest to shore himself up for disappearing for the afternoon ─ perhaps he would have himself a park walk somewhere, but ultimately he would be back into the beer.

Often he spends Saturday evenings with his girlfriend Bev and stays overnight at her home, but the twain did show up here last week for her to spend the night.

So I can never say for certain that he will not be back during the evening.

Anyway, after he sought that midday bed rest, I soon enough had changed into shorts to get on out to the backyard tool-shed for some exercising. And then because our hot weather is still with us, I next began some sunning.

At 12:57 p.m. I commenced just over a half-hour of sunning my back while mostly lying on a discarded old bed sheet that I had somewhat folded up and laid on the lawn; and after that, I sat low in a deck- or lawn-chair and sunned my front for just over another half-hour.

My brother was gone by the time I returned into the house.

I changed back into my usual clothes and set about frying up four eggs in ghee and coconut oil, spiced with freshly ground black pepper, Himalayan salt, paprika, and turmeric.

My eldest stepson took his leave as I was cooking.

When my dish was done, I chopped up some fresh ginger into it, along with a very large clove of garlic. As well, I squeezed the juice of an organic lime into the mix, and added a slice of frozen whole grain bread that I tore up into small pieces to soak up the oils.

I ate the rind of the lime along with the delicious egg dish.

As usual, my day's first meal tends to overwhelm me, so I had to seek my bed and lie down, probably napping.

And now here I am at 5:42 p.m., still home alone.

I have what amount to be two public service health-related articles to present ─ one that should be of deep concern to type 2 diabetics, and the other to anyone taking high blood pressure medication.

For the diabetics, I first want to link to the following article talking about some recent research, and I request that you consider it carefully:

ScienceDaily.com

The piece is rich with promise, is it not?

Now read this alternate report on what the drug ─ and others of its ilk ─ portend:

NorthStarNutritionals.com

Do with the information what you will.

The other report I have ─ the one that concerns blood pressure medication ─ is this:

JacksDailyDose.com

The article actually failed to link to the list. You can find it at FDA.gov here: FDA's Assessment of Currently Marketed ARB Drug Products.

As for the article's claim that the FDA is still giving some backing to Losartan despite its danger of contamination with a carcinogenic impurity, the most recent update at FDA.gov concerning that is dated May 6 (2019): FDA Updates and Press Announcements on Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB) Recalls (Valsartan, Losartan, and Irbesartan).

Again, do with the information what you will if you are diabetic or have high blood pressure. Ignore it all, if that is your choice. It's your life.

I close today's post with the following four photos that were taken on February 25, 2018 at the marriage celebration of a niece of my wife ─ I suspect that the photos were probably taken at some venue in the city of Udon Thani (Thailand).

The first two photos feature the beautiful bride:

And her new husband:
