A Nondescript But Somewhat Productive Day

Yesterday I claimed that my wife did not have to work that day, but I think that she must have worked the latter half of the day ─ her second outing of the day. She was still not back when I had my early supper that I had taken to ensure that I would not have yet a third successive day with just one meal beneath my belt.

And so it was that when I noticed my younger brother arriving home around 8:15 p.m. from wherever he had gone to drink that afternoon, I was free to vacate the T.V. and the living room and get myself upstairs to avoid becoming involved with him in any T.V.-watching that would involve me operating our Android TV Box.

However, this meant that I was to be abed a few minutes ahead of 8:30 p.m., and it is abominably difficult for me to find sleep so very early. Nevertheless, unlike the evening before when my wife was home, this time I did not have to try and sleep whilst her beside lamplight was burning. The ceiling light is part of a ceiling fan setup, but the light itself will no longer turn on. Thus, her bedside lamp is the only illumination for our bedroom.

And since her side of the bed is on the far side of the bed in terms of the bedroom door, it can be awkward negotiating one's way to the lamp. Consequently, when she is home and has that light on, I leave it so.

But even with a bandana blindfold, I cannot but help be aware there is light in the room.

So last evening, that hurdle to finding sleep was not present; and as a result, I was somewhat more comfortable being in bed.

Eventually some sleep would come and go; and then I became aware that my wife was present in the bedroom and seemed to be readying for bed. I was clothed, for I had only covered up with a blanket. The plan whenever I retire early is that I will invariably be rising during the midnight hour, or else within the hour thereafter.

Last night, I don't believe that it was yet 12:30 a.m. The only reason that my wife was retiring then was because she had a specially-booked kinesiology appointment scheduled for today at 12:30 p.m. relating to a recent small rear-ender she experienced while stopped at a traffic light. I think she has two regular physiotherapy sessions per week, but she booked this one yesterday because she found herself feeling dizzy at work.

I have come to rely upon these overnight risings of mine as prime time for working on my two hosted websites, both of which are new versions of two of the six that I used to have. I relinquished the domain names for the other four websites, and left the two hosting companies I had been using.

The two websites I now have are with InterServer, and in setting them up there, I completely abandoned their previous databases at their old web host. I spend days creating a single post, and so far only have a post at one of the two websites; I am presently working on a post at the second one, and thus far the post is not yet half finished despite being days old.

I have a nightly content quota that I seek to achieve, so last night I got at it several minutes after 1 a.m., and was able to be back in bed by maybe 4:30 a.m. And although I managed to find sleep in what is an average amount of time for me, I had my sleep break around 6 a.m. and then again at 7 a.m. (I checked the time on both occasions).

After that, I had a very short block of sleep, and around 7:45 a.m. decided that I might as well rise for the morning and put some further work into the website post. My brother didn't emerge from his bedroom until nearly 9 a.m.

Happily, I was able to match my content efforts of last night, so I am one day closer to having the post finished and published. Nevertheless, it will be a welcome surprise if I can do so by the 21st.

It is already well past 7 p.m. as I type these words, so I wish to complete this nominal effort at blogging for today. I will only add that my younger brother did indeed head away in the first half of the afternoon, so it remains to be seen as to when he will return home this evening ─ I am retiring early, no matter what.

My wife had to go to work ─ I think she had a 4 p.m. start at the Thai restaurant that employs her. She allowed that she would not be back home until tomorrow or possibly even Thursday (such is our sorry marriage).

I am reconciled to this; and in fact, it does somewhat help me to keep a better schedule of things. I am hampered when she is home because I cannot sit here for hours at a stretch during the afternoon working on anything; nor can I exercise in our bedroom if that is what is required of the day's exercise routine.

Finally, I will only comment on our overcast day that never resulted in any rain.
