I don't think that I have too much to say. I just wanted it on record that today and yesterday ─ entirely as a result of an especially slow 450-count ─ I exceeded my targeted eight-minute 'daily' plank.
I had been counting to 420 (420 seconds are seven minutes) while planking, rather than constantly monitoring my cellphone's timer and agonizing at how slowly time seems to be passing.
But a slow 420-count wasn't putting me over the seven-minute mark by very much, and thereafter it was almost excruciating having to hold out until I hit the targeted eight-minute mark.
So I have begun upping my count to 450 (450 seconds are 7½ minutes).
I absolutely amazed myself yesterday.
Yes, it was darned near agonizing counting that long, but I needed to arrive as close to eight minutes as I could. And to pace my count to avoid rushing it, I tried to match each count with a full breath through my nose.
Obviously there were times when I needed to swallow, or inhale deeply. And eventually, I found myself periodically breathing rapidly as I muttered and groaned. But I tried to keep the pace in count with the nose-breathing that I was generally doing.
And so when I hit 450 and logged back into my cellphone (still holding the plank), imagine my astoundment to find myself just passing eight minutes and 50 seconds!
So I held on until I hit the nine-minute mark, and actually did not break my plank until something like nine minutes and nine seconds.
This morning I did not count as slowly; but nevertheless, by the time I checked my cellphone's timer, I was around eight minutes and 15 seconds. And so I just held out until the 8½-minute mark (eight minutes and 32 seconds, actually).
I don't know if I can sustain this, for even having an eight-minute targeted plank was a rather premature step beyond the 7½ minutes that I had recently begun trying to target.
So we'll see!
I want to talk about two other things before I close down this post.
Have you ever heard of the term eggcorn?
I linked to a Wikipedia explanation, but Lexico.com is much more succinct:
A word or phrase that results from a mishearing or misinterpretation of another, an element of the original being substituted for one which sounds very similar (e.g. tow the line instead of toe the line).
I bring this up because I found an example just a short time ago in an otherwise very good health-related article by Dr. Marc S. Micozzi:
DrMicozzi.com
I won't challenge anyone to find the instance, for I don't even know if anyone reads my posts ─ no one ever offers a comment. I may just be posting as a waste of my life.
But the example no longer exists in that article, so you would not find it anyway. It was corrected from the original article that was sent to me by E-mail on August 8 ─ see this screen shot:
If anyone is actually reading this, see if you can locate the eggcorn.
Hint: it's in the third short paragraph.
If you still can't find it, then check the article that I linked to and find and compare that same snippet ─ you can see the corrected term there.
By the way, I think that I located the article that Dr. Micozzi was referencing:
- Newsmax.com: 7 'Healthy' Eating Habits That Really Aren't Healthy
His "myths" numbers three and seven were somewhat different from those in the article.
The final topic I want to bring up concerns the Norwegian comedy series Norsemen.
My brother and I watched the second season finale three or four nights ago and were amazed that the sexy viking warrior Frøya (as portrayed by very physically fit Silje Torp) had been killed off.
Check out the actress's Instagram account here if you are unfamiliar with her.
She was probably the biggest draw for me that the series had ─ and lots of people felt that way.
There was not going to be a third season, but that is evidently no longer the case.
However, I think that maybe the producers of the series realize their mistake concerning her.
You see, instead of carrying on the series without her, they are going to devote the third season to prequelling the first two seasons.
This device allows them to bring her back in order to include her in detailing events that tell the origins of the various series' characters, and it will thus bring back the hardcore Silje Torp fans.
Meantime, it there is ever to be a season four, they have time to figure out what to do concerning the essential character Frøya's unwise removal.
My younger brother is home, so I must close now and put our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box to use for the evening ─ if he doesn't pass out and thereby allow me to have an early evening.
