A Saturday Evening Movie │ The Old Viral Photoshopped Image of Danish Gymnast Miriam Offersgaard

Last evening was one of those Saturdays when my younger brother brought home his girlfriend Bev to continue their drinking while watching a movie with us.

I, of course, am the only one in this household who knows how to operate our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box, so it was up to me to use it to find a movie ─ they didn't have any in mind.

Some weeks back I wrote down the titles of four potential candidates for our viewing enjoyment, and we've since watched the first in the list ─ now it was the second movie's chance to shine: Marshall.

Unfortunately, Bev was too far gone to pay attention and actually watch the movie, and in short order she made her usual excuse of not being able to stand hearing the word "nigger," and instead she had my brother escort her upstairs to his bedroom so she could call it a night.

On these movie nights, I know better than to ever call up some movie that I am very eager to watch ─ Bev simply cannot shut up and sit silently. And my brother encourages her with his own  unwanted commentaries, and his reactions to things she says.

But I still have to find a movie that is good and has the potential to be appealing to the two of them.

Once my brother returned from 'tucking in' his girlfriend, he was able to sit and actually absorb the feature; and at its conclusion, he offered unsolicitedly that he really enjoyed it.

It was definitely a good movie. As well, it had a few familiar faces whom it was nice to see.

I saw in the credits that actor James Cromwell would be in it, so I was expecting to see him ─ his name is familiar to me.

But I did not know any of the other actors' names.

As a result, it was a little surprising to see that the prosecutor was the same guy who had the lead role as the world-threatening mentally ill mutant David in the T.V. series Legion ─ actor Dan Stevens.

Then there was a somewhat key scene in a bar where lead character Thurgood Marshall has a somewhat flirty exchange with a beautiful woman whom he could have had relations with, but he was of course a happily married man.

The beautiful woman was Sophia Bush ─ she played detective Erin Lindsay for the first two or three seasons of Chicago P.D.

Coincidentally, another actress from that series was also in the movie ─ actress Marina Squerciati, who plays Officer Kim Burgess.

I also recognized character Thurgood Marshall's wife ─ the actress playing her also plays the wife of lead character Roger Murtaugh on the T.V. series Lethal Weapon. She's actress Keesha Sharp ─ another unknown name to me, but a very familiar face.

Finally, I knew that the man on trial accused of rape seemed very familiar, but I was unable to place him until I was researching the actors in the movie while making this post. He's the Black dude ─ Randal Pearson ─ the adopted sibling member of the three main characters on the T.V. series This is Us.

The actor is Sterling K. Brown ─ it's interesting to me that I was never able to identify just why he was so familiar until I read that detail about him at Wikipedia. I'm now going to have to inform my brother, for he never showed any sign at all that the actor was familiar to him while we watched the movie.

I cannot recall that anyone else in the movie was familiar to me ─ not even Kate Hudson. I know her name, but she just isn't a familiar face.

It was around 12:30 a.m. by the time I was into bed last night, and I had limited myself to just one can of the strong (8% alcohol) beer that I try to keep in supply.

I got up about six hours later and well before 8:00 a.m. set off on the four-or-so-block hike over to Deepu's No Frills store in the Cedar Hills shopping centre at 128th Street & 96th Avenue (Google map) here in Surrey.

My brother and Bev headed away early into the second half of the noon-hour. I had enjoyed a very needed nap in the mid-morning; and then after my day's first meal in the early afternoon, another nap became necessary or desirable.

By the way, before that meal, I performed a 10-minute plank; I also performed one in the wee a.m. hours of yesterday.

The strain on my abdominal wall definitely has me concerned. As I have previously said, I have suffered a rupture ─ twice ─ in the past two decades at a site approximately two or three inches up from my navel while strenuously exercising.

I dread recurring that breach.

Returning just briefly to the topic of T.V. shows, I believe that it was around midday Thursday that my brother and I watched the final episode of The IT Crowd. It had become one of our favourite comedy series.

I have yet to see if I can locate the special episode titled "The Internet is Coming" with our Android TV Box ─ I sure hope so!

I would also like to mention the following image that I became curious about after seeing a thumbnail version a week or so ago on some website I had gone to in order to access an article entirely unrelated to the photo:

I realized that the photo was faked ─ no one can have arms like that, and yet have such a slight torso. The subject's chest would have been very thick and broadly muscular.

Yet when I researched who the young lady might be, I found no end of forum-type websites hosting comments by people who were clearly willing to accept that the woman just might really be this brawny.

Why are people so gullible?

Here is a side-by-side of the fake photo and the original photo:

Here are two other related photos that were quite likely taken at the same time ─ these two are from October 16, 2006:

According to this Flickr.com post:
Danish gymnast Miriam Offersgaard at the 2006 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Denmark, Aarhus.
Despite the vintage of the original photos, Miriam today is only 29 or so years old.

I thank website TechMediaTainment.blogspot.com for putting me on the right track with the article Lying clickbait tactics: Photoshopped fakes, misidentifications

I very much doubt that I am going to be able to get away before my brother ─ or even my wife ─ show up, but I would like to try and get out to do some further shopping. However, it is already practically 7:00 p.m., and I have not even begun to get ready for the potential three-mile round trip hike.

If either of them arrive home before I have left, I will feel myself unable to go.

... And as I have been proofreading my post ere publishing it, my very drunken brother has now arrived home. He's most likely going to be passing out anon, but it seems that my shopping excursion is regrettably scotched.
