Summer Sunning Weather ─ Day Two

Late yesterday I timed my latter evening bedtime almost perfectly, for I was all set for bed when I heard my younger brother arrive into the house from wherever he had been drinking. My wife was downstairs and in the kitchen at the time, so I heard them in some manner of exuberant exchange.

I suppose that it was around 9:30 p.m., although it may have been later. In any case, I managed some napping and got up anew once I realized that it was around 12:15 a.m. As hoped, my brother was already shut up into his bedroom for the night, so I was free to begin work on a few things here at my computer.

My wife and both of her sons were still up, but I long outlasted them, for I remained up until around 4:50 a.m. and only returned to bed then because I did not wish to still be up when my eldest stepson rose to begin readying for work.

One of the lads did seem to have risen by then, judging by a light coming from the boys' den area. However, I learned early this afternoon that the eldest lad in presently on an afternoon shift and thus does not begin work until 2:30 p.m. ─ I need not be concerned of him catching me up in the early morning.

My concern about that is because he will not lock the front door when he leaves for work if he believe someone is up, and I do not wish to find myself forced to be sitting up until after he finally leaves, simply to ensure that the damned door is locked.

When I spoke with him this early afternoon, I learned that he did not yet know what his shift next week would be ─ these schedules apparently get 'posted' at week's end.

Anyway, i managed some sleep after that return to bed, but by 8 a.m. I was awake even though I was still inadequately slept. So I sought one further submission into slumber, and must have succeeded, for when next I looked, the time was well past 9 a.m.

To my surprise, I was alone in bed. So I rose and dressed, but discovered that my wife had merely gone to use the bathroom. Usually, I would have been aware when she rose, so that was further proof that I must have been sleeping.

My brother was of course downstairs watching T.V., but I came here first to my computer until the time was nearing 10 a.m. before I went downstairs to boil water for a black instant coffee. And then I joined him at the T.V., putting our Android TV Box to use to watch a pair of Odessa Orlewicz's latest videos ─ she recorded them via her cellphone this weekend at a "freedom rally" in Vancouver.

The first video was a mere 8⅔ minutes long, and probably ended even more unceremoniously than it began: Maxime Bernier joins the Vancouver March through downtown.

The second video was just over 28½ minutes in duration: Maxime Bernier's speech at No New Normal before he marched with everyone

Thereafter we watched some videos that I previously downloaded onto a USB flash drive; and then just ahead of noon I tuned in an episode of Altered Carbon.

Henceforth, I am going to reduce my use of the Android 'app' CyberFlix and maybe instead make the Syncler 'app' my primary source for links to the T.V. episodes that I want to watch. Too often, the videos at the CyberFlix links will stall, and I am getting too annoyed at having to back out of a link only to have the same thing happen at another one a little further on into the episode.

I don't know if it's a problem that I can blame on the MX Player that I tend to use as my dominant media streamer, but the Syncler 'app' still uses its own default player and it doesn't seem to be as troublesome.

Syncler also comes up with a wider variety of streaming sources than does CyberFlix. This latter 'app' may present an enormous number of links, but they all tend to be for the same three or four sources; Syncler has a wider variety of sources.

Also, Syncler does not stop seeking available links just because I start playing a video; CyberFlix immediately stops looking for any more once a video begins to play.

Finally, Syncler seems to be based upon the superb TV Zion format ─ I loved TV Zion and hated when it was scotched.

The Altered Carbon episode finished around 12:50 p.m., at which time my brother retired to his bedroom to shore himself up for his afternoon departure to begin his daily drinking somewhere.

My wife was to have to work this afternoon with a 4 p.m. start, so she was to benefit from my brother with a ride to the bus exchange by the Central City SkyTrain Station which is probably just over a mile from our home.

At their departure just ahead of 2 p.m., I had some exercise now that I was home alone, for my eldest stepson had left ahead of my brother and my wife; and my youngest stepson had left for work shortly after 10 a.m.

Then because it was so perfectly sunny outside for the second consecutive day, I delayed having my day's first meal in favour of donning cutoffs and sitting outside in a deck- or lawn-chair on a cement pad in our backyard. The cutoffs ─ with their pant legs pulled up as high as possible ─ were all I wore as I lounged back and faced directly into the Sun for a little more than 40 minutes beginning at 2:08 p.m.

It was warm enough to have been sunning in a bathing suit; and once I even had a trickle of perspiration run down my left side.

My brother said that this weather is to hold; and by the weekend we are to be well into the mid-20s Celsius. That beard of mine will probably get trimmed down before this week is done.

My day's first meal followed the sunning; and before I was quite done with the feed, the 250-mg tablet of niacin commenced a strong overall body flush with prickly tingling so uncomfortable that I readily sought my afternoon nap to escape the condition.

When I was stripped down to my undershorts, I was as red as if I had just emerged from a very hot bath that I had been soaking in for some time. I suspect that the sunning's effects worked in a synergistic fashion with the niacin to give me a somewhat worse experience than might otherwise have been the case.

I also want to mention that just as yesterday, my bodyweight seems hovering at 180 pounds.

It is now after 7 p.m., and I would like to take advantage of my time here before my brother eventually gets home and watch an episode of The Last Kingdom while enjoying a beer and maybe even some Malbec vino ─ but we'll have to see about that latter imbibition, for I may possibly make the beer suffice.
