Superlative Ui

I missed out on blogging yesterday, largely due to unexpectedly long bouts of sleep. I had my wee a.m. five-mile+ walk, rising at 1:19 a.m. if I am remembering aright; but I took my time readying and never left here until ... maybe 2:16 a.m.?

I forget.

I stopped in for some exercise at the elementary school playground approximately three blocks from here; but no sooner had I taken off my jacket than I noticed a vaguely whitish shape off in the night, moving about on the dark playfield.

Then I could hear snippets of a male voice. Whether the whitish shape had a dark-clothed companion I could not see, or possibly a dog that was being talked to ─ or if the person was making a phone conversation, or was high on something, or just plain nuts ─ I can only guess. But the shape seemed to be working its way too much in my direction, so I left apace, cursing aloud.

On my return towards the end of my walk, I re-visited the playground and had my exercises then. My sets of pull-ups and chin-ups had totals as follows: 5-2-2-3-3-2-2.

The first three sets were pull-ups; then two sets of chin-ups; and the final two sets were pull-ups between a pair of gymnastics-style rings, and I was only able to hold the final of those pull-ups for a 30-count.

I finished with a strenuous set of 14 full-range decline push-ups on the nearby cement ramp.

I got back to bed ahead of 6 a.m., and later was about to try for another bout of sleep when I decided to lift my blindfold to try and determine if it was yet very light outside.

It did seem likely that the morning was in full bloom, so I peeked at the time ─ 10 a.m.!

So I hustled up and dressed, believing that my brother was downstairs watching T.V. and wondering when I was going to make an appearance and put our Android TV Box to work ... but he had not yet emerged from his own bedroom.

My wife, however, had finished showering and otherwise readying for her full workday at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time, so at least I was able to wish her well when she left about 10 minutes later on her rather long drive.

I have to cut this post short because my wife has had one of her friends visiting now for a couple of hours, and the latter even had me sit with them for a time outside enjoying a glass of wine. And now at 5 p.m. a second friend has joined them ─ and brought a thunderstorm. The power blinked off briefly twice.

But returning to yesterday briefly, I had an evening walk, but the round trip was only 2⅛ miles. That was because I went forth at 7:50 p.m. to vote in the 2024 British Columbia general election ─ I took advantage of the advance voting option that began fairly late last week, but my household's voter registration cards did not show up in the mail until yesterday.

Well, it got a little cosier here, for I was practically pulled away from blogging by my wife's friend Ui calling to me to join them downstairs at the dining table where Ui ensured I was well-wined along with some supper I was not possessed of an appetite for ─ I tend not to eat much over any short period.

But it was good. Ui is a delightful lady, and very communicative. I could grow dearly accustomed to her companionship.

The second guest only stayed for the meal and subsequent chatter. Finally around 7:30 p.m. Ui was set to leave, and my wife also left, saying she would anon be back ─ I am unsure, but maybe my wife brought Ui here, although initially I thought Ui had driven.

Whatever the case, I pray no ill befalls anyone involved in the small gathering. I honestly enjoyed the experience once the alcohol began working its effect. And it was wonderful learning a little about Ui.

I intend an early a.m. five-mile walk overnight, so I want to rise again at 1:30 a.m. to begin readying for it. But right now, I am feeling the drink ─ red wine and one of my Bumper Crop Crisp Apple ciders (7% alcohol).

In fact, I am now going to take a break of my choosing to watch a show and have a beer or two before my bedtime ─ more in a bit.

To that end, I tuned in The Avengers here at my bedside computer ─ in this instance, season or series five's episode 12 ("The Superlative Seven").

I had no idea who was guest starring, but I did recognize Donald Sutherland as a villain. I was most surprised to relatively early on recognize someone else ─ Brian Blessed of (to me) Z-Cars fame. Brian seemed potentially to be the key killer, but he didn't quite fit the bill.

I even wondered a little of actress Charlotte Rampling as an Annie Oakley sort of character, but I kept rooting that she was innocent and would make it through the dangers. What a beautiful cowgirl she presented! I hope to someday watch more of her works.

A quick estimate puts her a tad more than 3½ years my senior.

If interested, I watched the episode here at my bedside computer at this 123MoviesGo.show link, and it played flawlessly.

I enjoyed the episode a little more than I usually do ─ it actually bore some suspense and helped me down a can each of cider and Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol).

It almost shocked the dickens out of me after the episode was done to discover that it was circa 9:30 p.m. I thought it was going to be as much as an hour earlier!

Then my brother arrived home, so I let him know that I would be having one of my wee a.m. walks, so there was to be no evening 'togetherness' watching any of our shows.

You know, I would very much love to have Ui figuring largely into my life!

Anyway, it's now 10:04 p.m. and I must wrap things up and get to bed, hoping the drink is not going to interfere with a very good morning outing.
