I was into my bed by 9:30 p.m. last evening, thanks to my younger brother's tardiness in coming home from wherever it was that he was 'socializing.'
I was fairly certain awhile later that I could hear him downstairs talking to one or both of my stepsons.
Later ─ possibly it was somewhat before 11:00 p.m. ─ my wife came into the bedroom and rummaged about for a time. She had gotten home after her long day working at her friend's Thai restaurant.
It was about an hour thereafter that she finally came to bed. I recall thinking that I would wait until 12:15 a.m. and then quietly get up so that I could get a start on the day's content assignment at the post I am amassing at one of my six hosted websites.
However, I must have slipped into some further sleep, for when I next checked the time, it was just a few minutes after 1:00 a.m.
I was not to return to bed until at least 4:45 a.m.
During my time up, I had endured my daily plank ─ 6½ minutes. And immediately before getting to bed, I had gone outside and watered most of the garden areas in the front yard. By then, the night was vaguely becoming lighter with day's approach.
My wife rose during the night right around 2:00 a.m. to use the bathroom. And then a little after 3:00 a,.m., she got up yet again and this time went downstairs to begin fixing herself something to eat.
She said nothing to me as she passed by the small room where I was sitting at my computer (a small room next to our bedroom); nor did she say aught when she returned to bed.
I was to find that when I rose for the morning just ahead of 9:00 a.m., she must have gotten up yet again ─ probably to use the bathroom ─ because our bedroom door was not shut tight. It was ajar one or two inches.
And then shortly after 9:00 a.m., she also got up for the day. Apparently she wanted to do some cooking for the household before she left here on her drive to work ─ she has an 11:00 a.m. start at the restaurant.
I am getting an early jump on this blog post ─ right now, it is 9:45 a.m. By 10:00 a.m. I will have joined my younger brother ─ who only emerged from his bedroom 10 or so minutes ago ─ and put our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box to use to fetch up an episode each of three of the T.V. series we follow.
So I break for now this sunny morning of what promises to be a very sunny day.
oooooooooooooo
My younger brother and I were to watch an episode each of Ninja Warrior UK (the 2019 season finale that saw a contestant actually succeed and get to do the Mount Midoriyama rope-climb ─ the first contestant to ever make that climb in the Ninja Warrior UK's five years of existence), The Expanse, Deadwood, and Swedish Dicks.
My brother then sought bedrest ere taking off for the afternoon.
I was not feeling at all poorly for want of any sleep, so I had today's scheduled session of exercises out in the backyard toolshed; and then beginning at 1:41 p.m., I put in just over 40 minutes of sunning while wearing a pair of gym-style shorts, and while slouched low in a deckchair or lawn-chair and facing into the very warm Sun.
A few minutes of that sunning was actually spent bent over while I trimmed my toenails.
Upon returning into the house, I found my brother to be already risen and gone.
So I had my day's first meal; and then I went back outside and, beginning at 3:36 p.m., I spent just over a half hour while standing with my back to the Sun.
It is presently 4:54 p.m.
Early this morning on Facebook as I read some of the posts and resulting comments in a Surrey-specific group I am a member of, I noticed a familiar name from my secondary school years ─ a fellow student back then.
So I messaged him ─ he was a nice enough guy back then.
Well, when I checked my Facebook account in the earlier afternoon, he had replied with a bit of an update on himself.
I responded with an update of my own, and included my E-mail address.
It would be nice to establish a connection after all of these years, but it is very possible that it will not happen via E-mail. This Facebook exchange may be all that will have come of it.
I am 69 years old. Not many of my peers were likely to have gone on to have much expertise with computers and become as comfortable with use of the Web as have I.
But I would like to maintain contact with Bill if it becomes possible, for I only ever maintained contact with two schoolmates after I ended my school years by dropping out of my final year of high school during the 1966 / 1967 school term.
Of those two schoolmates, one died in 1984. The other moved upcountry in the mid-1970s, and I last saw him in (I believe) either December 1981 or January 1982 when my younger brother and I paid him a visit when he lived in the 100 Mile House area.
My friend and I were never in touch after that.
I managed to locate an E-mail address for him and his wife maybe four years ago. However, he has no computer skills. I only ever got some messages that his wife sent on his behalf.
And since I am not one who likes chatting via telephone, that pretty much has been that.
Maybe one day my brother will feel like making the long, long drive with me to go and visit the chap one day, but that isn't too likely.
And I don't drive, so I won't be going anywhere on my own.
Thus, it would be nice to have some contact with this Bill from Facebook ─ especially if he maintained any contacts with former schoolmates I also knew and liked.
At the least, maybe he knows of the fates of some we had in common.
Now changing topics, I am curious about a supplement I read about this afternoon that reportedly has a deserved reputation for improving vision ─ for mine is deteriorating drastically.
The article claims that improvements have been seen in as little as three months:
HSIonline.com
There are some strong claims being made in that article, aren't there? But keep in mind that there is no product being hyped ─ nothing is being advertised. All the article does is explain at its conclusion that saffron can be found on its own, or in combination with some other enhancements in a number of "vision support" products.
Also, it is pointed out that a daily dose of as little as 20 milligrams of saffron has been sufficient to bring results.
I would like to give it a shot, but I am going to have to wait until my monthly pension shows up during the final week of this month.
I made a search at Amazon U.S. using the term "saffron supplements" at the top of this post, if you are curious to see what may be available, and to get an idea on price ranges (keep in mind that 20-mg daily dosage that is supposed to be adequate on a minimum basis, for I know that I would want to try and be getting more than that if I am going to give this a test for at least three months).
I would have to make my order through Amazon Canada, since I am a Canadian living in Canada who doesn't want anything to do with the hefty dollar exchange differential that exists for me in shopping at Amazon U.S.
Here are a few other articles about saffron for any of you who may be as interested as I am ─ I have deliberately omitted any articles that were at websites that have a saffron product to sell, for I feel that the article's objectivity could only be sacrificed if there is something being marketed:
- WebMD.com: Saffron: Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Dosage, and Warning
- Healthline.com: 11 Impressive Health Benefits of Saffron
- VerywellFit.com: Saffron: Benefits, Side Effects, and Preparations
- Examine.com: Saffron Supplement - Science-based Review on Benefits, Dosage, Side Effects
I found it to be very interesting that the last reference suggests that a daily dose of more than 30 milligrams on an extended basis can have a toxic effect.
Worth remembering, just in case 'tis true!
Anyway, I doubt I would buy saffron much beyond three months if I could perceive absolutely no difference in my vision. Also, I probably would not ignore lutein and zeaxanthin while taking saffron.
I was going to conclude this post with a few photos, but it's already after 7:00 p.m. thanks to a break I took to have a bath; and my brother may be home at any time now and expecting me to operate our Android TV Box for the evening (if he remains conscious).
Consequently, I shall just proofread this post and get it published.
