A Cursory Second Post of 2020

Early last evening I chose to watch the so-called Christmas movie November Christmas via the Cinema HD 'app' that I have downloaded into our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box.

The 2010 movie was okay, but it had practically nothing to do with Christmas ─ or at least, not until the very last part of the movie. Because of that, I am not going to say anything more concerning it.

My younger brother had arrived home from the bar during the movie, and preoccupied himself with other matters until the movie had finished.

I knew he had a snoot full, but I was willing enough to keep operating the Android TV Box and sit up with him if he remained conscious. And toward helping him do that, I decided to tune in a movie I recently read about ─ 1999's Galaxy Quest.

Sigourney Weaver looked damned hot as a well-cleavaged blonde!

I can scarcely believe that she was as much as 50 years old during filming ─ for I see at Wikipedia that she had her 70th birthday this past October 8.

I had no idea that Sigourney was that old. She is actually three days older than I am ─ for yes, my 70th birthday was October 11th.

One of the characters in the movie was a female alien played by Missi Pyle, someone I am unfamiliar with. The thing about these aliens is that although they make themselves resemble humans, their natural form is very squid-like.

Well, this female alien and one of the actual humans became attracted to one another, and there was a scene where they apparently succumbed to carnal desires while the alien woman  more or less allowed much of herself to revert to her natural form ─ but it didn't stop the human.

And they remained a couple. She eventually opted to come to Earth and live with him to probably become 'man and wife' because they were in love.

I liked that!

If I had ever run into an alien identical to the one Missi portrayed when I was a younger man ─ romantic that I always was ─ I know that I would have given her a go if I truly believed that she loved me.

At the movie's conclusion, even though I could tell that my brother was drunk, I decided to risk an episode of The Good Karma Hospital ─ we've just begun slowly working through the second season.

To my rue, he was soon fading in and out of consciousness, but he would not pass out. I wanted him to pass out so that I could turn off the show and call it a night, leaving him to wake up to basic cable as his entertainment to accompany his drinking with.

It annoyed me that he was benefitting from veritably hardly any of the episode, for I could see that often his eyes were closed and he was effectively oblivious. But he was not yet unconscious.

It aggravates me no end when he is like this. I was sorry that I ever became involved in evening T.V. with him.

We followed that episode with one of Britannia ─ we're almost finished the second and final season.

Unfortunately, even that show could not always hold his full and rapt attention, and  sometimes saw him start to drop into unconsciousness. But still he would not release himself fully into it and allow me my escape.

And thus another episode of T.V. fare was effectively lost to him, for I knew he was not following the progression of events in the episode.

At its conclusion near midnight, he called for "something short". So I tuned in an episode of Mom. And that one did it. He quickly faded, and by midway was right out and snoring.

Since this was to be the final T.V. show of the night, I sat all the way through it. And as it happened, he regained consciousness almost immediately after it was finished.

But enough of that. My wife is unexpectedly home now at 5:58 p.m. She has not been home since she left to go to work Tuesday morning ─ she loves her parties.

All I have time to say now is that after a sunny New Year's Day, we are back to mainly rain today.

Also, my brother was able to retrieve his van today ─  it had been impounded for a month due to my brother being caught 'impaired driving'. I don't know what it cost him to bail it out, but he had to have his friend Greg drive it here this early afternoon ─ my brother still has a suspension of driving for another two months.

The two then had a couple or so beers here, and then left to catch a bus to go drinking somewhere. Greg will have to bus home later, as will my brother ─ neither lives anywhere near the other.
