πŸ’€☠πŸ’€☠πŸ’€☠ An Afternoon Gone Awry

I had no opportunity to post yesterday ─ a relatively damp day, as I recall.

Late that morning ─ well, shortly after 10 a.m. ─ I used out Android TV Box to access a Dr. Mercola video interview he hosted that I wanted to watch on T.V. with my younger brother: Dr. Vandana Shiva Discusses Her Book Oneness Vs. the 1%

My brother does not hide his unhappiness anytime I impose one of Dr. Mercola's interviews, and I am unsure if much of this one will remain with him. A huge part of the problem was that Dr. Vandana Shiva's voice transmission was very poor, often reducing into a garbled warbling that made it impossible to understand a lot of what she was saying.

As well, my brother vacated the room a few times, so some continuity was of course lost.

We were to follow the interview with the American Horror Story finale episode of season nine's 1984 ─ an episode titled "Final Girl".

We've been slowly working our way through the series from the very first episode ─ I suppose we've been doing this for the course of over a year. An episode a week is about enough ─ some of the storylines have been utter flops.

Early into the series, the violence was quite horrifying. But now we pretty much laugh when some hideously gory murder scene takes place ─ it's all so farcical. And "1984" was no different ─ in fact, it got to be nearly hilarious to watch the 'ghosts' in the episode get killed over and over and over again, for obviously they would just turn up as good as new.

But this was the very first time that a storyline ended with a purely happy ending ─ the whole episode was in fact quite uplifting, for so many of the characters turned out to have converted into becoming 'good' ─ that was entirely new. And when the final scene played out to the musical accompaniment of the late 1980's hit "The Living Years", I have to admit that I was somewhat emotional. My eyes were actually burning from a little tearing.

I wish the idiots behind the series would take a cue from this more positively impactful turn, and hence put serious consideration into actual 'happy endings'. To be perfectly honest, I had been looking forward to this season's arrival because I thought that it was going to be the very last ─ I was fed up with the dreary nonsense and wanted to be utterly done with the series.

Yet somehow, it is popular; and now there are to be at least three more seasons?! I honestly would rather not ─ I know that this ninth season was an anomaly and the ensuing seasons will once again end being utter crap from start to finish.

Also, I am sick of seeing actor Evan Peters and actress Sarah Paulson. I came to this point in the seventh season storyline "Cult" where concerns Evan Peters ─ his character was beyond disgusting; and my limit for Sarah Paulson was in the season six storyline "Roanoke" ─ her constant hoarse screaming and shrieking put me over the edge until I wanted nothing more to do with her or her awful voice.

I would not care if I never saw either of them act in anything ever again.

Now continuing with yesterday, while my brother was away for the afternoon, around 3:30 p.m. I used our Android TV Box to fetch a Christmas movie ─ I located a source for it through the Stremio 'app' that I have downloaded into the device. And specifically, the 'addon' within Stremio which provided a working link for the movie was Juan Carlos 2.

The movie was 2010's Battle of the Bulbs.

The movie synopsis or summary at that link does not reveal that the two male warring neighbours vying for best Christmas-decorated home were once best friends from elementary school until high school where they finally had a falling out that lasted until each of them went their separate ways in life.

Matt Frewer's character unknowingly buys a home in early December practically across the street from the former friend of his youth ─ this character was played by Daniel Stern.

Both actors did very well (and I am not much of a fan of either of them).

There were a couple of subplots ─ an elderly single man and woman who never quite managed to get anything happening with each other, despite some shared mutual interest; and the teen son ("Chip") of the new neighbour who discovered a shared romantic mutual interest with the old-time neighbour's cute teen daughter ("Susie") played by Emily Tennant.

It's a bit difficult to think that the actress today is 30 years old! As "Susie", she was so convincingly 'sweet and innocent'.

As for the plot of the movie, it was good to see the long-suffering wives of the former friends establishing a fast friendship, but I wasn't too thrilled late in the movie when a misunderstanding got the wives to side with their husbands and start sharing in this silly competition.

I'm sure I've seen the actress portraying the wife of Daniel Stern's character before (judging by her list of acting credits), but she was not familiar to me: Allison Hossack. The actress who played the new neighbour was very familiar to me: Teryl Rothery. I cannot name anything she has ever acted in, but whenever I have seen her, she has always reminded me of Dawn Wells ("Mary Anne") from Gilligan's Island.

If my brother brings his girlfriend Bev here to spend a solid couple of days around Christmastime, I will re-watch the movie with them ─ it was that enjoyable for me.

My wife had been away for a physiotherapy appointment while I was watching the movie, but she returned just near its finish. Not much thereafter, I decided to play the series finale of the South Korean T.V. series Kingdom.

My wife had previously seen bits and pieces of episodes when either my brother or I have been watching it, so upon learning that this was the series finale, she decided to watch it along with me.

A character certainly has to be extremely fit in that series ─ the flesh-eating zombies run like sprinters, and of course they never tire!

The series ended with a cliffhanger ─ I had to research to see if there is yet to be a new season, or if this project was simply dropped cold.

Thankfully, Wikipedia says that there is going to be some sort of "special episode" coming out in early 2021 that I hope is going to resolve everything. (This is Wikipedia's source concerning that "special episode".)

I want to finish with today's post ─ today is the second consecutive day in which I did not seek a needed nap. However, unlike yesterday, today found me 'wallowing in the mire' instead of rejuvenating myself. My eyes feel burnt out, and I have little energy. In truth, I am unable to generate the vigour to tackle the day's final session of scheduled exercise (although I now have no time for it anyway).

Had I not embraced besmrichment in the afternoon instead of seeking restoration, I would likely have been able to squeeze in yet another Christmas movie. I had two cans of strong (8% alcohol) beer with Battle of the Bulbs yesterday, and I was rather looking forward to doing that again.

My wife had to work today at the Thai restaurant that employs her part-time, so she left us this morning in time to make the fairly long drive for her 11 a.m. start. I am not expecting her back until at least Sunday afternoon, and maybe not even until Monday.

When I joined my brother this morning just after 10 a.m. to watch some T.V., I tuned in the latest episode of LibertyTalk Canada ─ an episode titled Dec 8th - Merck Pharma Whistleblower Found Dead With Special Guest Rick Dignard. My brother seemed quite interested ─ this encourages me.

However, I now see that dear Odessa Orlewicz posted yet another episode since we watched the one I identified, so if possible I may try to squeeze it in for us over the weekend ─ I cannot remember when I last watched any daytime T.V. with my brother on a weekend.

However, tomorrow early morning I would like to make the four-mile round trip hike to the nearest government liquor store and buy two dozen cans of that same strong beer ─ Christmas is coming, after all!

We've had some light rain during the day, and it remained damp overall from the look of things. The liquor store opens at 8 a.m. this month, so I want to get there as soon after its opening tomorrow morning as I can in order to avoid the busy public during my walk.

And I think that I shall call it quits right here for this post.
