An Annoying Monday Hangover

It seems that I overreached my tolerance for alcohol last evening, indulging in three cans of the strong (8% alcohol) beer that I prefer to have in stock, while I watched an episode of The Last Kingdom and the final 20 or so minutes of an episode of Parenthood that I had cancelled out of the day before due to the untimely arrival home of my younger brother from wherever he had been drinking.

Actually, I had to finish watching Parenthood here at my computer last evening because my brother again showed up, just after I had begun watching where I had left off in the episode that day before. By this time I had already opened my third can of beer, so I could not in any good conscience drink it without doing so with the tandem enjoyment of that episode.

And so it was that I was not to be getting to bed until after 10 p.m. ─ it may have even been in the neighbourhood of 10:30 p.m. And after the comparative rigours of the day ─ a three-mile round trip hike in the very early morning to shop for groceries, and a four-mile round trip hike in the late afternoon to shop for 1½ dozen cans of beer and a 750-ml bottle of wine ─ I was of a mind to allow myself to sleep for as long as I possibly could.

My hangover set in during my sleep. And eventually it probably adversely affected my ability to sleep, for I reached a point where I felt too ailing to be able to easily relax into any further easy sleep. A check of the time revealed it to be around 3:42 a.m., so I rose to at least create a post in my private blog and get that obligation out of the way. I correctly surmised that I lacked the time to work on a post that I have sitting idle at one of my two hosted websites.

I suppose that it was around 5:00 a.m. when I heard what could only have been my eldest stepson rise and start readying for his first day at his new job. My brother had mentioned a couple or so days ago that this was in store for the young man; I have yet to speak with the lad concerning his new employment, however.

He left around 5:30 a.m., and it must have been nigh 6 a.m. before I was back into my bed for a little further needed sleep. Alas, that only held until around 8 a.m. when I found myself awake once again, and feeling not at all restored.

Nonetheless, I resisted getting up for possibly as much as an hour, doing my best to loose as much hold upon consciousness as I could.

My brother was of course already up and watching T.V., but I remained upstairs here at my computer until nearly 10 a.m. before going downstairs for a black instant coffee and to join him. I wanted us to watch at least one of Odessa Orlewicz's videos, for we have fallen behind.

And so it was that we got to see her latest interview: Liberty Talk Episode March 10th- I Interview Police On Guard For Thee!

Her guest was a retired police inspector named Len Faul, and the episode lasted for an hour and 41 minutes. The man is staunchly behind a group that have a presence on Facebook as Police on Guard for Thee, but they are soon to have their own website so that they can be free of risk of censorship.

This group, if you do not know, are enlightened as to the fact that the only COVID-19 pandemic we have is a scamdemic / plandemic / casedemic; and police are acting illegally who enforce the prohibition of people's Charter of Rights freedoms to engage in things like protests.

The video was sufficiently long that I just decided to follow it with an episode of Peaky Blinders, and then my brother went upstairs to his bedroom to rest up before heading off for the afternoon to resume his daily drinking somewhere.

The day has been very sunny, with delightfully blue sky. However, there has also been an uncomfortably chilly breeze. After my brother left, I had a short bit of exercise out in the backyard toolshed, and then I gave a try at sitting out in the backyard in a deck or lawnchair with my bared feet on the grass.

I definitely needed the jeans I had on; and I had a sweater overtop a tee-shirt. Nevertheless, I almost weakened after 20 minutes ─ I was intending 40 minutes from my start at 2:21 p.m. But I managed to find the resolve to remain out there and just barely exceed that time target.

Since I had yet to eat, I could now have my day's first meal ─ along with a 250-mg hit of niacin. Then once the niacin flush began to manifest, I retired to my bed for a nap.

I must avoid bringing hangovers upon myself if that was indeed what afflicted me. Had I not known that I would be able to bear that short session of exercise out in the toolshed, I otherwise would not have felt myself capable of enduring the strain.

Also, I really do need to begin working on the tax returns for my wife and I. My primary excuse in having waited this long is because I have yet to receive the two receipts qualifying me to claim the new Digital News Subscription Tax Credit for my weekend subscriptions to both the Vancouver Sun and The Province.

The newspapers make the claim online that receipts will all be mailed out sometime between March 8 - 19, but I am still waiting for mine. It has been a long time since I have taken this long to file our tax returns, and I quite badly need to know what our tax refunds are going to be like, and to actually have them deposited into our chequing account. We've got some wicked annual bills coming up for utilities, home insurance, and property taxes.

I am also having considerable trouble making payments to some credit cards, but I have no desire to enter into that conversation.

Anyway, it is just after 7 p.m. and I have some further (in house) exercising to take care of, so I want to get that out of the way. I'm not going to have a beer this evening if I decide to catch some T.V., however.
