πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€ How Earthworms Can Help with the Treatment of Lyme Disease

Now the count is seven consecutive evenings as of yesterday that my younger brother has managed to drink himself insensible and thus deny me my opportunity to have one of my cans of strong (8% alcohol) beer that had been my norm each late evening while I enjoy some T.V.

I will not sit in the same room with the passed-out drunkard, and so I must sacrifice my beer and further T.V. once his feeble brain folds up as it has been doing so consistently.

Nevertheless, I did not get to bed particularly early ─ I believe that it was around 11:00 p.m., for I became involved downloading photos from my wife's Facebook account ─ she is presently over in Thailand visiting her mother at their home village quite near to the city of Udon Thani.

I was to enjoy my usual night of broken sleep; and at 2:00 a.m. I rose just to turn on and log into my computer to have it loaded and all warmed up for later use.

I intended to give it until as late as 2:30 a.m., and so I returned to bed to wait.

Well, evidently I succeeded in falling asleep for another short spell, for it was 3:45 a.m. when next I checked the time. And so I rose to get started on the day's content assignment for the post I have in development at one of my six hosted websites.

My youngest stepson was still up ─ or at least, he was watching a movie or something on a monitor he has set up by his bedside.

I don't think he ever slept overnight. And to my surprise, at 7:20 a.m. he abruptly headed out the front door to apparently go to work.

His older brother never bothered getting up this morning to go to work.

I met with some delays with my work on the website post, and I was still sitting here when my younger brother emerged from his bedroom shortly after 8:00 a.m.

It wasn't until around 8:30 a.m. that I was finally back in my bed, thinking to likely get in a long nap.

I did nap, but not long. About an hour after getting to bed, I was awake again. And so I decided to just get up for the morning.

As it was to happen, I never did return to bed for another attempt at a nap. I should have done so in the early afternoon when my brother did. Instead, I indulged in squalid dalliance here at my computer.

He was to have his rest, and then come forth to ready himself to head off for the afternoon to end up drinking again. However, since the day was predominantly sunny, he did allow that he was considering first having a good walk in a park somewhere.

I carried on in my corrupted waste of time, energy, and spirit until around 3:30 p.m. before finally appeasing the villain within. I had a sorry few movements with my 43½-pound dumbbell, and then opted to get out to the backyard and sit in the sunshine in an effort to be loosened of some of the negativity that was in control of me.

Even though the Sun was predominating, I found a breeze to be much too chilly to allow me to be topless, nor to even wear a mere tank top for cover.

But at least I wore cut-offs and was barefooted when at 4:00 p.m. I commenced just over 40 minutes of sitting slouched down in a lawn- or deck-chair while facing into the Sun. There were a few minutes of cloud just after the midway mark, but otherwise my time was spent in sunshine.

Here in Surrey where I live, I have never heard of anyone encountering a tick. My younger brother and I practically lived in "the bush" areas around our various rented homes over the course of our boyhoods here in Surrey from the latter 1950s throughout most of the 1960s, so it is a blessing that those miserable pests did not inhabit these parts.

I can't imagine incurring an infection of Lyme disease ─ a sapping condition that can of course be treated, but which is virtually impossible to completely cure.

Apparently the bacterium that causes Lyme disease is able to surround itself with an almost impenetrable biofilm that keeps it isolated from whatever our immune systems can marshal against it, or anything modern medicine is able to come up with to assault the germ.

But there are substances that can at least weaken that biofilm, making it a little easier for other agents to penetrate through and get at the infectious bacteria.

You might be surprised that one such biofilm-weakener is derived from earthworms:

As that last article says:
If you and your doctor determine lumbrokinase is right for you, be sure to buy a high-quality, reputable brand. Lumbrokinase is a costly supplement and both its enzymatic strength and price can vary widely from brand to brand. Certain brands are available in capsule form at a dose of 600,000 IU (international unit), or 40 mg, which are recommended for Lyme sufferers in the form of a daily dose of 1 to 2 capsules taken in the morning, afternoon and at bedtime.

Generally, lumbrokinase should be taken only under the advisement of your doctor and can be dangerous if taken with blood-thinning medication. In addition, it's contraindicated in all medical conditions associated with an increased risk of bleeding.
My Amazon searches definitely back up that claim that the stuff is "costly."

But even if someone can afford lumbrokinase, how is a person supposed to "be sure to buy a high-quality, reputable brand" if the consumer knows nothing about any of the available brands?

The Amazon search I did using the term "lumbrokinase" is at the top of this post, and one product seemed to stand out ─ a product of the Allergy Research Group.

It is indeed expensive if a consumer is supposed to be taking one or two capsules three times a day as suggested above in that excerpt I quoted!

The product offered at Amazon does not seem to list the potency of each capsule, but I found the producer's website, and that information was listed:
They additionally claim that their 60,000-I.U. capsules have been improved upon ─ where once the 600,000 I.U.s equated 40 mgs., supposedly the product has been improved so much that now they are 32 mgs., but every bit as effective as were the 40 mgs:
The potency of the enzymes and the bottle sizes have not changed. The lumbrokinase is slightly more concentrated, so each serving of 600,000 IU require 32 mgs. instead of 40 mgs. (by weight). The potency of the lumbrokinase (IU activity) is what matters, and is unchanged.
Now the first article that I linked to mentioned a different formulation called "Boluoke" ─ an Amazon search I made using that term didn't result in the product.

Nevertheless, I did track down three product sizes, all of which are 300,000 I.Us or 20 mgs.:
Clearly, any potential customers will need to do considerable background work. At least the Boluoke product at Amazon had some interesting reviews to help with the decision.

I just want to repeat how relieved I am to have grown up around here where ticks were not known. I could never afford any of these products now on my monthly pension.

I have to wrap things up for today ─ it is nearing 7:00 p.m.

First, though, I want to present a set of seven photos taken last year on February 25 (2018) when my wife's niece got married ─ the photos were likely taken in the city of Udon Thani.

The only people in the seven photos that I recognize are the bride and groom ─ they are in the centre of the group. Actually, the bride is in the precise centre:

I wanted to include all seven of those photos because Google Photos made the following animation from them:
