On Becoming a Fan of Cris Cyborg │ 100% Pure Maple Syrup's Health Benefits

Something seems to have gone amiss with this blog, for my previous four posts are pegged as not having received a single visitor.

I guess I'm simply blogging for myself ─ and of course, the practice.

I spent yesterday at home ─ there is nothing unusual about that. But at least I had the evening T.V. to myself ─ my younger brother evidently spent the that night at the home of his girlfriend Bev, as is often the case with his Saturdays.

Thanks to running late with the day's post in this blog, I never got around to watching any T.V. until toward mid-evening. And since I didn't feel up to watching any of the usual T.V. series I otherwise might have, I decided to do something a little different.

It involved some research and then some trial and error, but eventually I had the right 'app' that was going to allow me to watch a MMA fight from last December 29 whose outcome I had not heard about as yet: Cris Cyborg versus Amanda Nunes.

I anticipated that Cris Cyborg would be overwhelming Amanda Nunes, so I threw my sympathies in with the latter.

Well, I sure never expected the fight to be over in something like 51 seconds, and with Amanda Nunes the victor!

My past impression of Cris Cyborg has been that she is the female version of a veteran 'pug' who has taken far too many blows to the face, and now looks battered, scarred, and hardened.

I likely would have even said that she is homely.

I had a change of heart about her when I witnessed her graciousness in the ring following her demolition by Amanda Nunes. This was not quite the behaviour I was expecting from the woman who had a reputation of being so fierce that many female fighters reputedly feared her.

This morning I came upon her quarter-hour press interview following her loss to Amanda Nunes, and it has changed my opinion of the woman forever: UFC 232 Post-Fight Press Conference: Cris Cyborg.

I began to see a beautiful person inside the hard-looking young woman, and that began to transform her in my eyes ─ I could now see her outward beauty, too.

At times I even saw a sweet girlishness appear when she would smile.

This change of my heart was reinforced by a couple of other videos of her that I dug up.

I would be thrilled and honoured to be able to personally know her.

Anyway, it was a late night for me, and I was not into bed until the latter half of the midnight hour.

Normally I rise during the night, even if only to turn on and log into my computer if I had shut it down before going to bed. But thankfully, at my bedtime I decided just to restart my computer and not shut it right down.

My inadequate sleeping pattern of late caught up to me to some degree, I think. Not only did I feel too weary to be getting up in the wee hours to put some work into the post I have under construction at one of my six hosted websites, but I didn't even feel well ─ it was as if I was suffering a hangover, yet I had consumed no alcohol last evening.

I think that it was just after 6:40 a.m. before I finally felt myself able to get up and face the morning, but I was never to fully normalize.

Nevertheless, I sat here and accomplished a full day's content assignment for that post; plus, I completed the 20% or so remaining from an additional day's work that I had managed to get done yesterday after finishing that day's content assignment.

Therefore, these two days have seen me accomplish three days of work, and that will bring me a day nearer to completing and publishing the website post.

My younger brother arrived home at 10:40 a.m. while I was still at work. He even had some instant coffee while he read some of the Sunday morning edition of The Province that I subscribe to.

And then he retired to his bedroom late in the morning to rest up ─ he would be heading off again in the afternoon to eventually start drinking again somewhere.

I finished that bit of additional post content work into the noon-hour, and then made myself a breakfast. I am now unsure, but I may have been back in bed before the expiration of the noon-hour.

I napped, and was back up by approximately 2:00 p.m. or soon thereafter. In fact, I simultaneously opened my bedroom door just as my brother opened his to exit from his room.

He was all spruced up and set to head away. In leaving as early as he was, it is very possible that he will be home again before 6:00 p.m., but that is never predictable.

I am relieved that I had my bad day today and not tomorrow, for it is my fervent hope that I will be able to get out of here early and hike the two miles over to the nearest Service Canada office (Google map) here in Surrey so that I can make full application for the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) that I wrote about in yesterday's post.

I had been sent an application and an invitation to apply last week ─ it has nothing to do with any scheme on my part. As I said yesterday, although I had heard about the GIS before, I thought that it would be more bother to apply for than it would be worth, for I didn't expect that I would qualify.

And maybe I won't. The calculation will be based upon both my wife's and my income as verified by Canada Revenue Agency. It may well be that together our income will have exceeded the allowable threshold and I will warrant nothing.

But if I do manage to qualify for something, I sure as heck need it. The wild prospect that I might qualify for and actually receive over $800 extra each month this year (based upon our combined income for last year) is nearly inconceivable to me ─ so great is my need!

oooooooooooooo

I took a break in order to try and have some exercise out in the backyard tool-shed. I still was not feeling fully recovered from whatever condition overcame me last night.

The workout was nondescript, but essential ─ I am 69 years old, so laying off even for a day isn't anything I care to do. And since the afternoon by then seemed mostly sunny, I then decided to sit out in the backyard, slouched down into a lawn- or deck-chair while facing directly into the Sun.

I was barefooted, but wearing a pair of jeans and a short-sleeved fleece top. I was going to try for 40 minutes from my 4:30 p.m. starting point, but by 4:50 p.m. some cloud began to present some solar obscuration. The Sun would still appear, but a greater cloud mass seemed imminent. And so after being out there for just over a half-hour, I called it quits.

I truly hope that I can get away early tomorrow morning and hike the two miles to Service Canada so that I can arrive as soon after its 8:30 a.m. opening as possible. Getting in this application will yield me some considerable relief.

And maybe I will at long last be able to start placing a few orders with Amazon for some health-related products, as well as purchase more organic fruits and vegetables locally than I do ─ the cost of organic produce tends to cause me considerable pause.

Recently I nearly indulged in some maple syrup that I found had appeared in our fridge ─ the syrup was in a hard-plastic, opaque, somewhat cream-coloured jug sporting a red maple leaf and the attention-catching letters 100% maple syrup.

At the last moment I decided to read the ingredients, and discovered that it also contained added sugar and maybe one or two other unwanted additions.

You see, it was MADE with or included 100% maple syrup ─ it was not itself 100% maple syrup!

Food manufacturers are so skilled at misleading and outright lying.

I didn't realize that genuine maple syrup came in grades, and that Grade B was the darkest and most beneficial. I doubt that I've ever tasted Grade B maple syrup.

These three articles do an excellent job of presenting just what is so healthy about genuine maple syrup (although the first may be prone to some exaggeration or hyperbole):

HSIonline.com

DrAxe.com

And this article, which is from back in 2010:

ScienceDaily.com

However, playing Devil's advocate, here is a somewhat contrary article:

Healthline.com

As in almost all things, moderation must be observed, I suppose. But if I get that GIS allowance, I am still going to buy me some Grade B 100% pure maple syrup ─ and preferably organic!

If you are curious just as I was, I made an Amazon search at the top of this post using the term "100% pure Grade B maple syrup." I didn't bother adding in the extra word "organic" ─ the search term was long enough, and it's easy enough to make one's decision.

Strangely, nothing is displaying in my preview ─ yet at the Amazon site itself, there are quite a few results. Oh, well ─ maybe something will display once I publish this post.

However, if not, then I apologize for saying there was anything to see at the top of this post!

Note that since I live in Canada, I would have to order from Amazon Canada ─ its prices will of course be unavoidably higher.

But I'm getting ahead of myself ─ I don't have that GIS approval yet! Maybe I will never be placing an order.

It is nearing 6:00 p.m. ─ I must put this post to rest ere my younger brother is back home and I must commence operating our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box for the evening (he doesn't know how to operate it).

Before I do finish up, I want to add a few more of the wedding photos that were taken (probably in Udon Thani) on February 25 last year (2018) when one of my wife's nieces got married.

The bride is not in these photos ─ and I don't even know who the lass is in the final two photos. But these first five feature Kรฆ̂m or Gรขaem, the wife of the bride's brother Mark (or MonoMark) ─ Mark happened to be doing the photography:
