πŸ’€☠πŸ’€☠πŸ’€☠ Done in by an Early Grocery Shopping Expedition ─ And My Own Perverse Nature

Oh, what a depleting weekend!

Following last evening's four-mile round trip hike to the nearest government liquor store for a dozen cans of strong beer and three 750-ml bottles of wine, early this morning I managed to handle the 5.625 round trip hike to the nearest Real Canadian Superstore for some groceries, arriving there a mere minute or two following its 7 a.m. opening. It was specifically heavy cream that I was after, so I didn't go overboard and load myself down with too much else ─ certainly no vegetables or fruit.

I do not drive, so walking is a must despite my 71 years.

I managed to forget to look for a Valentine's Day card for my wife, though. Now I'm going to have to remember to get one next weekend (I go nowhere during the workweek ─ it's too busy out there).

I managed to do all of this fuelled with but the late afternoon hot caffeinated beverage that I enjoyed yesterday because I never had a chance for any supper. My sole meal of that day was around mid-afternoon. And that delicious beverage later was probably finished by 5:30 p.m. at latest. From that time until almost noon today, I took in absolutely no calories despite those two rather challenging outings and very little downtime sleeping.

Overnight I had my usual several-hour vigil here at my computer once I heard my younger brother betake himself to his bedroom for the night. I remained up until around 3 a.m., seeking some bed rest with my cellphone alarm set for 5:15 a.m. so that I would have sufficient time to have a hot black unsweetened instant coffee before getting ready for that shopping hike. However, I am unsure that I ever managed to sink into a nap. I think that I only managed to deeply relax. And I was so awake that I made a time check at 4:48 a.m. because it seemed possible to me that my alarm had failed to sound and that I had been lying in bed unacceptably long past the hour when I was supposed to have risen.

But I was ahead of myself, and well able to be on my way by about 6 a.m. into the chilly, clear night.

Something else I forgot to do was deposit the monthly expenses reconciliation cheque that my younger brother had left for me around mid-week. I had travelled a half block or so out of the way before it occurred to me that I was misdirecting myself, but I didn't want to waste time backtracking and so I forged onward to my shopping destination.

I was back home with my purchases by 8:10 a.m. or so. It was not until around 9:14 a.m. that I was back into bed for a needed nap, and nap I did. I think it was 11:44 a.m. when I made a check of the time. I could have napped further, but I chose not to. I badly wanted that delicious hot caffeinated beverage, and I thought to join my brother in the living room to watch some T.V. via our Android TV Box.

That was not to be, though. As I was boiling my water, he announced that the time had come for him to seek some bed rest ere he left for the afternoon to hook up with his girlfriend Bev to watch the Super Bowl in a bar or pub. It's scheduled for 3:30 p.m. here in Western B.C., but he said they will want to get to wherever they are going well ahead of time.

At present as I type these words, it is 12:53 p.m. and I have finished that delicious hot caffeinated beverage. I am now going to take a break from this post and I have my first actual meal since mid-afternoon yesterday. My eyes are still burning from inadequate rest, so I am certain that I will require yet another nap once I have eaten. Oddly, the thought of the meal I plan on having ─ a slice of organic whole grain bread heavily buttered with grass fed butter, lots of natural crunchy peanut butter, some extra old cheddar cheese, and four boiled eggs ─ strikes me as unappealing now that I have had that sustaining drink. My stomach even seems to be signalling me some rebellion over what is about to be introduced into it. The meal seems leaden (heavy).

I cannot imagine having any exercise today beyond that early hike. My body is still a-tingle and overwrought from the unaccustomed abuse. In truth, I am undone.

It's a bugger growing old.

oooooooooooooo

The day was sunny throughout, I believe. And fairly chilly, particularly due to a somewhat arctic breeze. It will freeze out there tonight. Heck, by Tuesday night we're not supposed to climb above freezing until maybe next Sunday, and by Friday throughout the weekend "snow showers" are forecast. Thus far the most snow we have experienced was possibly two inches of the stuff several days ahead of Christmas, so I don't exactly know what "snow showers" betoken. Nothing serious?

Regardless, my evening is well upon me, so this will be brief.

I never did properly seek that afternoon nap following my meal. Instead, I squandered valuable time in depraved occupation here at my computer until I finally got what I pathetically sought, and then I lay atop my bed fully clothed and covered over with a blanket to protect me from the chill outside air breezing in through the open bedroom window.

I reckon I remained thus for an hour or so, and despite myself I managed a small nap. And that brought me to approximately 5 p.m.

I was correct earlier ─ that hike will have been the sum total of my day's exercise. Had I not bee so vile, perhaps I could have managed at least some.

By the way, I never ate all four of those boiled eggs. I saved two for my supper. All I plan on having for supper will be those two eggs, some extra old cheddar cheese, and an entire organic orange (i.e., peel and all). And my nutritional supplements, of course.

I made that early afternoon meal slightly more palatable by adding some raw honey to the mix.

I sure know how to live, eh?

Tomorrow's got to be a better day.

I need a beer or two, so I am done with this post and with blogging for today.
