Although I am 71 years old, early last evening I made two AliExpress.com purchases that I have no doubt very few guys my age would likely consider.
My first purchase was to get the two different different colours of this sleeveless hoodie:
As you can see, that's the U.S. price. I am Canadian, so I of course opted to have Canadian pricing displayed: C$ 13.57 - 14.73.
I did my homework in choosing to order from this specific provider ─ that is, Shop911494019 Store. There were quite a number of others selling the very same garment, but this specific AliExpress store had a difference ─ they were the only ones that I could find offering this specific item with free shipping.
So what was my ultimate total cost for these two items?
It was $21.98 U.S. ─ or $28.70 Canadian. And that was it.
Incidentally, the same garment can be bought on Amazon.ca, but only first-time customers to Amazon.ca were allowed free shipping, and I am not a first-time customer. I would have had to pay a rather unattractive fee to receive the garments on top of the much costlier price for the garments themselves.
I didn't check out Amazon U.S., but for anyone interested, this is what comes up when I make a search for sleeveless hoodies there:
Incidentally, I specifically wanted sleeveless tops that had a hood and also covered the top of my shoulders because the back of my neck has been creased and weathered since my latter 20s from excessive sunburns, whereas my shoulders are somewhat hairy so I prefer having that particular feature also covered over.
Sure, I'll probably have to wait a month to see a delivery from AliExpress (the quoted estimated delivery time was 16 - 26 days, but that will be a welcome surprise if it comes true). Nevertheless, I do not much care. It's not like I can start wearing these garments outdoors here in Canada even in a month's time!
The second purchase was a somewhat similar garment ─ again, I bought both colours:
Once again, that is the U.S. price on display. The optional switch to a Canadian price yielded C$ 18.57.
As well, I ensured that the shipping would be free, and the supplier (Gigante Gym Store) was the only one that I came across offering this specific garment without any shipping charge.
So what did I ultimately pay for the two colours in this style?
In U.S. funds, $28.44 ─ or in Canadian dollars, $37.14. And not a penny more ─ I have already checked my VISA card online to ensure that those final Canadian amounts I was quoted at AliExpress were all that I was charged for both purchases.
The estimated delivery date was the same ─ that is, 16 - 26 days, but this is of small concern for me at this time of year. I could wait three months if I really had to. I don't belong to a gym ─ I've never worked out in one in my life. Consequently, I only intend for them to be worn outdoors, and I need warm weather for that.
I opted for XL size. I'm not quite five feet and 11 inches in height, and weigh around 180 pounds. Usually, I'm a few over, but sometimes I manage to slip just under that figure.
Before I got involved in placing those two orders, I had watched an episode of Magnum P.I. ─ the fourth episode of the current season, an episode titled "First The Beatdown, Then The Blowback".
What was remarkable about it (apart from absolutely wonderful Perdita Weeks as "Higgins") was that I was just about certain that a guest actress playing an MMA fighter seemed to me to be a regular in the final season of Z Nation who played a character named "George".
Well, darned if I wasn't right! The actress was Katy M. O'Brian; and what I did not know about her in Z Nation was that she is an actual MMA fighter!
She appears to have had recent roles in other T.V. series that I watch ─ or have yet to watch but plan to ─ so I am going to have to keep alert for her.
But ─ so much for yesterday. I had an otherwise usual evening and spent my usual several hours sitting up overnight after I head heard my younger brother had gone to bed.
We did watch T.V. together this morning from around 10 a.m. until nearly 12:45 p.m. Employing our Android TV Box, I tuned in the latest episode of Odessa Orlewicz's videos, this one was specifically titled "Feb 2- New Law asking Kids to Spy On Their Parents-Gotta Love The New Commonwealth". (She also posts her videos to BitChute.com here, in case YouTube cancels her account via censorship.)
I followed that up with a fairly short video by Pastor Henry Hildebrandt titled "Canada, Glorious and Free? Aylmer Police ticket 85 yr old WWII survivor for attending church service".
What cowardly footlickers our police have become, willing to bully common Canadian citizens at the command of their political overlords.
"I was just following orders."
Yeah, Sgt. Schultz ─ no one has ever heard that excuse before.
"I know nothing!" is also catchy and original, isn't it? Use them, you weaklings with no spine to stand up against what you know is wrong. Just keep carrying out those orders so you can earn your daily ill-gotten bread.
I hope with a passion that you all have your deserved Nuremberg.
Anyway, after that short video, I then tuned in episode three of the first season of Black Sails. And that took us into the second half of the noon hour when my brother went upstairs to his bedroom to seek some rest there.
On Wednesdays, he usually hikes over to a bus stop to bus off to a pub where he joins up with one or two of his drinking buddies. This generally signifies that I do not need to expect him home until sometime past 9 p.m.
And that being the case today, I think I just may seek out a Christmas movie to which I will treat myself to a couple of cans of strong (8% alcohol) beer.
My brother had a sunny day to be out there busing about in. I suspect that he likely has to catch two buses to get to his destinations, so he'll have spent a while outdoors this afternoon ─ not so me. All I've managed to do is make two trips out to curbside to bring in our wheelie bins when they were emptied. And I also went out to the backyard toolshed for a little exercise there before my day's first meal ─ which I followed up with a nap.
So that pretty much catches me up as time approaches 7 p.m. and I hear one of my stepsons entering the house ─ I have been home alone all this while.
