My wife had her eldest son drive her to Surrey Central SkyTrain Station ─ it was probably around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon that they left; consequently, I am not expecting her to return until perhaps Monday. And so I find myself with some free blogging time.
I had just finished spending a tad over 40 minutes seated out in the backyard to try and benefit from some daylight. Had I not come into the house when I did, I would likely have known nothing of my wife's movements. It is very possible that she would have simply left without a word to me where I sat outside.
Incidentally, my time out in the backyard was primarily beneath an overcast sky; and except for bared feet, I was fully clothed. It would have been too uncomfortably chilly out there otherwise. We even had a little rain overnight at some point, so conditions are not exactly Summer-like.
I want to watch some T.V. and perhaps have a couple of drinks, so I am going to keep this post short, for it is already early into my evening.
Early last evening I sacrificed myself in order to free up this time, for around 6:40 p.m. I left here afoot on the four-mile round trip hike to the nearest government liquor store where I purchased two dozen cans of the strong (8% alcohol) beer that I try to keep in stock, plus a four-litre box of wine.
The beer of course was Cariboo Malt, whereas the wine was a brand request made by my wife some days ago ─ Domaine D'Or Red.
I had been buying a succession of Copper Moon Malbec four-litre boxes, and my wife normally has good red wine taste, preferring a Merlot. The Malbec seemed to me to be at least as good as Merlot, so I was surprised when she voiced that she and her friends / co-workers at the Thai restaurant where she works part time, had become quite regular with this Domaine D'Or ─ a relatively cheap red wine that I have known of for years. Would I please next buy a box of this latter wine?
What gets me is that even though it is supposedly a Peller Estates product, it isn't mentioned on their website anywhere that I can find. The name Peller isn't even on the box ─ in fact, I can't find an actual winery that is named on the box.
I have seen it stated that the wine is actually a product of Domaine Maison; but there again, I cannot find this specific wine listed anywhere on that website either.
Is this wine so cheap that a winery doesn't wish to be clearly associated with it? It was definitely a few dollars cheaper than the Copper Moon Malbec for the same quantity.
I'm wasting too much time talking about this. I just wanted to explain that I hiked the two dozen cans of beer and that box of wine the two miles home last evening. As already said, I had left home around 6:40 p.m., and it was maybe 8:12 p.m. or so when I was back home, definitely a little footsore.
I bore 1½ dozen cans of beer in a pack in one hand, and a half dozen cans of beer and the box of wine in a tote bag in the other hand. So all things considered, I would estimate that I was carrying around a minimum of 15 pounds in each hand.
For two miles. And I am 71 years old.
But enough of that.
The only other thing I wish to mention in this post is that my younger brother and I watched Odessa Orlewicz's second interview of Boyd Anderson: Part 2- Continued Interview With Boyd Anderson. (Make Sure To Watch Part 1 First Or You May Be Lost).
Part one is here, if you are interested.
The first interview was long ─ just over 2½ hours; but this one was three hours! I had thought that we would have to watch this second interview over the course of this morning and then tomorrow morning, but my brother seemed amenable to getting through it all in this single sitting. And so that is how we spent our time from roughly 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
My brother never did get some further bed rest before later heading away for the afternoon.
And now to change topics, I must her confess that this short post was the effort of two sessions, for I had overlooked that I wanted to have a bath before I got involved in any T.V. and whatever drinking I might submit myself to.
The bath was not quick, and was nearer overall to an hour than it was to half of that from the time I shut myself up in the bathroom until I had finally exited it.
I then had some supper as I watched a little T.V. just to give me something to do while I ate; and by the time I was done, it was after 9 p.m. There was to be no time for even one can of beer.
And now it is already after 9:35 p.m., so I am going to terminate all blogging for today and get myself to bed ─ in short order, I hope.
