My Wife Winding Up Her Rome Holiday

Apart from being distractedly hungry as I slowly work my way to at least 8 p.m. before having anything to consume today apart from water, I suspect that I am also undergoing caffeine withdrawal.

I got to bed last evening just ahead of 9 p.m., and it was very soon after hearing my younger brother arrive home from his daily socializing. My cellphone alarm was set for 2 a.m. to get me up for my planned five-mile walk.

It had rained most of that day, albeit not often heavily; but it was still raining when I went to bed.

Unfortunately, even though I did acquire some sleep, I was awake before 1 a.m. and never managed to find any further sleep once I peeked at the time around 1:06 or 1:09 a.m. Even so, I did try right up until my alarm sounded.

The house was in darkness. Once I had dressed for my outing, I checked online and saw that it was possibly around 5ΒΊ Celsius. I also weighed myself fully dressed and in my boots: no less than 202 pounds.

Once I was outside the locked front door and on my way, I saw that it was 2:14 a.m., and the sky was mostly cloud-free with a very bright moon.

Early into my walk when I had my usual stop at an elementary school playground for six sets of pull-ups and chin-ups, I used the bandana I had brought to wipe a metal bar dry enough to do my exercises with my bare hands, and thus I managed the expected minimum repetitions in those six sets ─ three in the first set, and two repetitions in each of the remaining five.

As usual, the effort invigorated me.

Apart from initially finding more people abroad during the first 1¼ miles or so than I at all care to see, I was able to avoid having any proximity to anyone ─ I am not out there to 'make friends' or give away my money. As well, it only occurred to me after I had long left home that I had $210 in cash in my wallet ─ I had forgotten to stash the $200 at home.

There really was nothing else remarkable about the outing, and I sustained three or so blocks of unbroken sloppy jogging, most of it up a slight incline; and I had two short stints near home, both also up inclines.

When I was approaching the locked front door, it was 4:07 a.m.

I got to bed again ahead of 5 a.m., but largely that was because my eldest stepson was evidently having to work a 12-hour shift today that would begin at 6 a.m., so he had risen. I did not want to have to go downstairs to ensure the door was locked ─ if he knew I was up, he might well leave for work without bothering himself with the task as he left.

Whatever sleep I got was superficial; and because my core body temperature was so low, I retired to bed fully dressed, except for socks.

My brother was to rise well before I did, but I was in no rush ─ he always reads the Saturday morning edition of the Vancouver Sun that I subscribe to, so there would not be any especially early T.V. Nevertheless, he did turn it on sooner than I expected ─ possibly around 8:30 a.m.

He was to have to leave to pick up his girlfriend Bev at 10 a.m. to drive her to work, so we never watched any videos until after his return.

The first and only video we were to watch (via our Android TV Box) was one uploaded to Rumble's America's Untold Stories channel back on November 21, 2021 ─ it just topped an hour (1:04:32): Alec Baldwin and the Rust Tragedy - Part 4 - Q&A and the Budget.

The Rust movie set tragedy where Alec Baldwin shot and killed Halyna Hutchins is growing more complex. In this installment, Mark Groubert and Eric Hunley share what they have learned about the budget and open the floor for questions from the chat.

I have been slowly working us through the full series of that topic.

My brother had a noon rendezvous to keep with an old friend of his ─ Frank and his wife Sandra. The three were to have lunch at a fairly distant pub. And of course, my brother would remain away for the day, continuing with his socializing.

I was back in bed seeking a nap before the noon hour was out.

By the way, I am relieved to report that my youngest stepson contributed $600 via transfer into my chequing account towards the annual utilities bill that is due in two days. Actually, that billing is for just over $2,000, so if the lad is paying 25% of the bill, then the remainder of his financial infusion must be his very reduced contribution towards the monthly mortgage payment due around the 22nd. He normally contributes $300 towards the mortgage.

Now I have to see what his older brother volunteers ─ I sure hate to have to approach the lad about it.

Okay, yesterday I promised to try and post further photos and a couple of video clips that my wife uploaded to her Facebook account ─ she is presently in Rome, Italy, visiting a sister of hers who lives there.

I will lead off with this video clip that she uploaded at 1:54 a.m. Pacific Time Zone yesterday ─ in Rome, the time would have been 9:54 a.m. Since it is dark, though, my wife had clearly recorded the minute-long video sometime Thursday evening in Rome, or possibly after midnight ─ but would so many people be out and about at that time of night prior to a weekend?

She was near the Trevi Fountain, and I suspect that she did not know the chap whose laser pointer she was playing around with:

These dozen photos near the Fountain were posted to Facebook at 2:29 a.m. (Pacific Time Zone) yesterday, or 10:29 a.m. local Rome time:

This 40-second video clip was posted to Facebook at the same time as the photos, and of course is at the Trevi Fountain as well:

This four-second video clip also got posted at 2:29 a.m. yesterday (Pacific Time Zone), and again shows my wife and the chap who owned the laser pointer, if that is what my wife was clowing around with in the first video:

Oh, gosh ─ my wife has uploaded more photos and a video. I just do not have the stamina nor resolve to continue with these uploads in today's post ─ my energy is too low, and I am in a mental fog approaching a bit of a headache.

I reckon that my wife is 'going to town' because she is due to catch a flight from Rome on Monday to take her to Thailand ─ she wants next to visit her mother and other family (and friends) in her home village.

Yes, I am going to close this post here and catch some T.V. while I endure the time until I can eat a meal later this evening. Then later yet, I will be sitting up watching shows with my brother once he is home, and I will then be enjoying a couple of cans of strong (8% alcohol) malt.
