Health Benefits of Thyme │ Why Fevers are Generally Desirable When Sick │ Red Clover to Moderate Menopause's Worst

My younger brother and I sat up last evening until the midnight hour as I tuned in various episodes of the T.V. shows we follow via our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box.

I am beginning to make the Titanium TV 'app' the primary medium for locating those episodes because the Movie Play Red 'app' ─ our preferred 'app' since at least last December ─ has far too many duds; and it also seems to have a lot of weak links that do not always feed out the stream quickly enough to keep up with the player.

Also, not only does Titanium TV often locate more links than does Movie Play Red, but every one of them will play ─ or so seems my experience thus far. There is no need to 'pair' with any of the websites such as Openload or Thevideo.me, for instance ─ Titanium TV seems to have taken over that role and gotten itself recognized as the primary user accessing them, and each one I have tried plays without any of those mandatory 'pairing' prompts.

So not only does Titanium TV often offer more links to shows than does Movie Play Red, since all of Titanium TV's links actually seem to work, it is thus by far the more bountiful resource.

Thus, last evening my brother and I watched the final couple episodes of 2018's season of iZombie, and then also finished off 2018's series Titans.

I see at the Wikipedia article for iZombie that there will be another season, but I must say that 2018's season ended as if it was the series finale.

As for Titans, what a lot of violent killing of bad guys! It's not your typical superhero series where a villain hardly ever dies ─ it's more like The Punisher.

Yet sometimes one of the main characters will soliloquize to someone else on the perils of crossing the line and taking a life ─ when that same main character will regularly slay untold numbers of bad guys! This dichotomy really annoys me, and I wish the writers would get their acts straight.

A lot of that same nonsense goes on with Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It bugs the blazes out of me when the main agents get preachy when one of their number seems bent on forever destroying a main villain, but it's perfectly fine to take the lives of all kinds of the villain's underlings.

Why do leading evil villains have more worth than do their henchmen? It's absolute hypocrisy, and I wish that nonsensical 'righteous' drivel would stop.

But making one final return to Titans, I am extremely impressed by how endearing the Dove character is. The actress (Minka Kelly) portraying her is not a name familiar to me, and I see in that Wikipedia article on her that I must have seen some of the movies or T.V. shows that she has acted in previously; but I just do not surely recognize her.

It was into the midnight hour by the time I was abed. I had shut down my computer first.

I had a wakeful period after 3:00 a.m. in which I pondered whether to get up and turn it back on so that I could log in and have it all set for use later on in the morning, but I felt myself able enough to return to sleep that I did not wish to jeopardize that chance by getting out of bed.

A little more sleep did follow, but at 4:17 a.m. I was awake enough again to be checking the time. It was then that I rose to activate my computer.

Even so, I returned anew to bed to see if I might lapse back into a wee bit further sleep; but when I was still as awake as ever half-an-hour later, I got up to confront the day's content assignment for the post in development at one of my six hosted websites. If all goes very well, I ought to finish and finally publish the post tomorrow.

I just hope that I do not meet with the delays that characterized this morning's work, for I never got back to bed for a nap until after 10:00 a.m. And by then, my younger brother was risen and downstairs drinking instant coffees and reading the Saturday morning edition of the Vancouver Sun that I subscribe to.

Yesterday's light rain ceased by last evening, and has not resumed. Consequently, we still have much snow laying about. And even though it is overcast, the sky has very bright sections where the blue sky may be revealing itself. I just haven't been outside to know.

I did get out after my brief nap. When I emerged from my bedroom, I saw that my brother was shut up in his own bedroom to rest further, so I galvanized myself and headed on out to the backyard tool-shed for some exercising out there. It was 11:31 a.m. when I commenced.

After that, I was free to fix up my day's first meal. My brother reappeared after I had eaten; and before it was yet 12:20 p.m., he bade me adieu and headed out the front door to apparently take off for the afternoon.

This is exceptionally early for him to be heading out. But will he be returning this evening? He usually spends his Saturday evenings with his girlfriend Bev and then sleeps over at her home, but I can never know for certain what is in store.

I regularly read articles on the health benefits of various herbs and spices, and sometimes feel motivated to stock up on certain things. For instance, thyme oil ─ see this encouraging article:

HSIonline.com

My tendency would be to store it away until needed. But what if I never actually came down with a throat infection anytime soon? I just recently suffered through a bout of the flu, but it never affected my throat.

Apparently it probably isn't a good idea to just store away essential oils such as this for a rainy day ─ essential oils such as thyme oil do degrade in time.

Here are a couple of articles that speak about that, although the first article does not get specific enough (it just happens to be extremely informative otherwise), while the second and third articles have two confusing (to me) categories of thyme oil that have different shelf lives:
I did an Amazon search just above this post in order to get a pricing idea ─ even organic thyme oil is quite inexpensive.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have some on hand and periodically use some even when a person didn't have a sore throat. Let's hope none of us ever falls prey to the Streptococcus pyogenes described in that first article, for the bacteria do indeed cause the flesh-eating disease called necrotizing fasciitis (NF)!

And that's a whole lot more than a 'strep throat,' isn't it?

Of course, there is always the option of using lots of the plant itself ─ fresh and dried.

That bout of flu I mentioned ─ I had days of fever, but I weathered it without any treatments. For those who have what amounts to be an irrational fear of any kind of fever, this article should be essential reading:

DrMicozzi.com

A final article I want to link to is strictly for benefit of the gals:

HSIonline.com

You can find other articles enough about red clover for yourself, but I will link to four ─ the first two are nowhere near as profuse about red clover's benefits as is the article above. And in the cases of both of those two articles, you can access other category sections of the topic by using the links at the beginning of each article:
My wife isn't yet menopausal, so I sure do hope that I can recall this potential relief when her time comes.

I am going to finish up today's post with the commemorative collage that Google Photos created today in supposed celebration of this day (February 16) back in 2016:

None of those three images has a thing to do with that date. They are all scans I made that day of old photos that used to belong to my mother ─ that is her nearest the camera in the bottom photo of the left column.

Thse are the three original photos, beginning with that left column:

All I know about the baby in the very first photo is what is written on the reverse of the photo:
"Sherry 1 month
February 23, 1974
"
I do have a 'first cousin once removed' named Sherry who may be the subject ─ she is the daughter of my maternal cousin Chris nΓ©e Halverson.

Concerning the photo that has my mother in it, I wrote this description when I filed the photo in a Google Photos album:
According to my older maternal half-sister Phyllis, the two people just beyond her are Olga and Otto, a couple who "lived close to 96th and 120th (on a nice piece of property-large lot) and had an adopted...girl living with them."
Phyllis offered that information on February 20, 2016. The intersection (Google map) she referred to is in Surrey.

The final photo has this on its reverse:
"Andy Krys cutting his B. Day Cake"
Andy and Kay or Kaye were very good friends of my mother and her husband Alex.
