An iniquitous afternoon.
Yet the day began with so much promise, despite poor sleep. Heck, I even planked early this a.m. as the night was giving way to day ─ I held the plank for 12 minutes and possibly at least as many seconds.
The last time I planked a day or two ago, I gave it up after surpassing nine minutes.
This must be the fifth or sixth time that that I've achieved 12 minutes in the past three or so weeks, and is my personal record.
But quite aside from the success of the plank, I even sallied forth afoot at (I think) 7:43 a.m. to deposit the monthly expenses reconciliation cheque my younger brother had given me yesterday, and then I continued on to do some shopping at the Save-On-Foods outlet (Google map) in Whalley.
Obviously the cheque deposit was made into an ATM ─ one outside of the Coast Capital Savings building (Google map) over by the King George SkyTrain Station.
In all, I had myself approximately a three-mile round trip hike.
I nearly didn't make the hike ─ especially since the early morning was unexpectedly sunny. I seriously considered postponing the errand until next weekend.
You see, late last afternoon or early evening, I put my beard trimmer to use for the second time since acquiring it a couple or so weeks ago. On this occasion, I stupidly assumed that the trimming length-setting had been left (from my previous use) just where I wanted it.
It was only while I was busy trimming away on my chin's beard that it occurred to me that the trimmer seemed to be finding a lot to remove ─ my eyes had been closed all the while to prevent any shavings from flying into them.
And so I looked ─ and my chin was practically bare. Apparently the five-millimetre setting I had been trimming with was the setting I previously had used for every other part of my face except for my beard ─ I should have had the setting at 10 or 11 millimetres.
Since I had already ruined my moustache, too, I had no sound option but to trim everything evenly right down to maybe two days' growth.
Lord, I'm ugly in my old age, with my 70th birthday a mere five days into my future!
I see that I forgot about a pair of other photos that I took on October 2 of the small plot of garden in our front yard. Of interest to me were the blooming small flowers that are probably a patch of asters or chrysanthemums:
The mass of what might be mistaken as weeds in the rest of that garden plot are thyme plants ─ they have basically run their course for the year.
Those asters or chrysanthemums will bloom until heavy frost and/or snow kills them off. I think that last year, they lasted into December
I have to bring this post to a close ─ my brother has been home for some while now, watching T.V. in the living room. If he is sober enough, I will operate our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box to provide episodes of some of the T.V. shows that we follow ─ he doesn't know how to operate the device, and must otherwise settle for what he can find through the basic cable package that we have.
