The Day After My 70th Birthday

I have spent a couple or more hours composing a post for my private blog, and as a result of the time lost, I figured that I would not create a post in this blog.

However, I remembered that Google Photos created a collage from some photos that were taken exactly five years ago on this date, so I feel obliged to create a post to showcase the collage and its original photos.

First, though, I want to post the photo I took yesterday (my 70th birthday) of the gifts my younger brother had gotten for me. The booze is a 40-ounce bottle of rum, and I believe that the two lottery scratch tickets cost $5 apiece ─ both are as yet unscratched:

The Sun was shining brilliantly through the living room window directly behind me, so the items I photographed all suffered from the glare.

The interior of the birthday card was printed with:
Wow, you'll believe anything!

Happy Birthday
OLD-TIMER
And my brother added:
HAPPY "70"

MANY MORE, LOVE MARK
And now here is the Google Photos' collage that Google automatically created today:

I rather suspect that the original photos were taken right around the midnight hour of October 11 / 12 of 2014, for my wife had taken me to her friend's home in Langley to share a birthday celebration with her friend's husband ─ he also was born on October 11, but is many years younger than I am.

The birthday cake was a farcical work ─ it was designed as the busty torso of a lingerie-clad female.

Anyway, here are the original photos, beginning with the left column ─ note that the central lady in these first two photos has a birthday a mere day or two from that of the male host and I:

And now the second column ─ I am at the far right in the first photo, and the other birthday boy is immediately next to me and wearing the white shirt:

That is the cake just above.

There are always so many beautiful Thai and Lao gals at these events, and the festivities can get markedly wild.

Oddly, I don't notice my wife in any of those photos above.

Anyway, I had no such celebration this year, although my wife helped celebrate the birthday of the woman whom I pointed out in the first two photos.

My birthday turned out to be extremely distressing and depressing for a long while last evening, but this is not the time for me to write of it.

By the way, I took advantage of advance voting this morning and voted in the Canadian federal election

The Queen Elizabeth Secondary School gymnasium where I voted was populated mainly with volunteers ─ I doubt that there were as many as five other voters present.

The outing gave me a round trip hike of possibly two miles in total ─ I think that it was just after 9:00 a.m. when I left here.

My younger brother followed suit (he drove, though) in the early afternoon and met with a fair line-up that he complained about after he was home again.

Gosh, I sure don't feel 70. In so many ways, I still feel inside like I'm in my 20s, but somehow housed in an ageing body.
