Unfortunately, I will not have a birthday card to present to my younger brother tomorrow along with the two bottles of Scotch that I have for his 68th birthday that will have dawned that day.
But at least the bottles of Scotch are in a nice red gift bag that has an address card or label attached to the bag's drawstring ─ I can write onto that.
Anyway, it's the booze he'll be specifically interested in, I expect. He never keeps cards anyway ─ he's not sentimental like that. Any card would just get disposed of after a month or so of being on display.
He went off this afternoon afoot to catch a bus to hook up with two of his drinking buddies at some rendezvous pub, so he likely won't be back here until at least 9:00 p.m. In other words, I ought to be able to have an early evening of it and be in bed by the time he is home ─ or maybe even well before if he is quite late.
The day has been mostly one of hazy skies, but I did get out into the backyard in the latter afternoon to sink low into a deck- or lawn-chair for just over 40 minutes as I faced toward the Sun. That session began at 4:12 p.m., I believe.
I wore just a pair of gym-style shorts; and although the sky was hazed over, there was sufficient sunshine to create shadows.
I mentioned in yesterday's post that the pair of nebulizers I had ordered from AliExpress finally arrived that morning. Thanks to all of the fuss over COVID-19 back when I placed the order on April 14 (April 13 China time, I expect), the package met with unusual delays.
It apparently did not depart "country of origin" by air until May 2, so from that point it ought to have arrived in my home country of Canada very soon thereafter, I would think.
Yet the next recorded activity concerning the package was on July 5 when it was accepted by "Last Mile Carrier" ─ which in my case must have been Canada Post, for that's how it was delivered two days later. Thus, it must have been in Canada customs in early May until Canada Post got hold of it two months later.
That's pretty darned ridiculous.
I used one of the nebulizers today for the first time to try my first daily session of hydrogen peroxide therapy.
I think that I paid $53.13 (Canadian) for the pair of nebulizers ─ a far better deal than I would have gotten anywhere else.
I think I have linked to the precise product that I originally ordered. One website that sells these charges $60.79 (Canadian) just for one, and there is shipping on top of that.
Would I have placed the order, though, had I known my wait would be nearly three months? Maybe not. But it sure wasn't AliExpress's fault. My own country held it up for two danged months!
I hate to quit like this, but it is already after 8:30 p.m., and I have yet to sup. I need to be all set to be getting myself to bed before I am caught up by my undoubtedly inebriated brother expecting me to sit up with him and operate our Android TV Box to find episodes of some of the T.V. series we follow.
I hope to do a better job with tomorrow's post.
