"How to Save the World"

Having my wife home in the latter evening ─ as was the situation yesterday ─ can definitely be an impediment to finding sleep during the latter evening due to her occasional incursions into the bedroom and the fact that her bedside lamp is left on for her manoeuvrability convenience.

As I have said before, yes, I do wear a bandana blindfold, but particularly when the evenings are hot like they presently are, just sensing that the light is on merely adds to the overall discomfort.

I believe that it was 12:08 a.m. last night when I finally checked the time and rose. My wife was just about to finish up and begin readying for bed. I did not realize it then, but she was to have a full workday today at her friend's Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time.

Her full days start at 11 a.m.

I was to return to bed around 4:30 a.m. this morning after essentially accomplishing all that I had wanted to get done overnight. I could have returned to bed even earlier, but I lost considerable time watching videos relating to the more sordid areas of Thailand such as Bangkok's sex districts, and similar venues at Phuket and Pattaya.

There are so many such videos out now that run 12, 15, and even more minutes in length, and featuring the montages collected by the itinerant videographers.

It makes me miss being there. I always found it absolutely fascinating to sit streetside at some bar, nursing beer while watching the myriads of beautiful young ladies ... and ladyboys.

But marrying my Thai wife in late May 2005 and getting her here to Canada nearly a year later forever ended my experience of that Southeast Asian country. I became a helpless resident of unforgiving and relentless debt thereafter.

After getting to bed and eventually finding sleep, I next checked the time just after 8 a.m. That was too early to be rising, so I did my best to find further sleep, delaying my rise until nigh 9 a.m.

My younger brother was of course downstairs watching T.V., but I waited until the approach of 10 a.m. before going downstairs to the kitchen to boil water for my day's first instant coffee (black and unsweetened), and then I joined my brother in the living room.

When he invited me to put our Android TV Box into action, I began playing a very long video uploaded by host Bret Weinstein and titled How to save the world, in three easy steps.

Bret sat (and sometimes arbitrated) between his two guests, Dr. Robert Malone and Steve Kirsch. Those two latter gents were basically aligned, but Dr. Robert Malone tended to be exceedingly reserved and in considerable contrast to very excitable Steve Kirsch who often perceived the doctor to be adversarial.

Even my brother was grinning at one point when some fur seemed to be flying after one fit of hissing between the two.

However, as I said, the video was very long ─ 3¼ hours. So just into the noon hour I broke off from it to continue with either tomorrow or Thursday, and I then tuned in an episode of The Flash (season five's episode 12).

The conclusion of that episode brought us to roughly 12:45 p.m., so my brother was set by then to repair to his bedroom to rest up before leaving for the sunny and hot afternoon.

I was feeling below par, so I had myself my day's breakfast and then sought a nap. Otherwise, I did not see how I could both exercise and get in any afternoon sunning ─ I was definitely feeling underslept.

When I later roused and checked the time and discovered it to be just after 3 p.m., I arose in a bit of a mental fog. It was going to take far too long to revive enough for any exercise, so I was going to have to sun first.

And so it was that at 3:09 p.m. I commenced over an hour of backyard sunning while attired in my swimming trunks. I then came back into the house and prepared a delicious hot mug of my special and sustaining caffeinated beverage, and then I got to work on this post.

It was not until after 6 p.m. that I at last tackled that strenuous (if short) session of exercise; and I actually prefaced it with a 23-minute video on Vietnamese nightlife in Saigon. It was okay. For anyone who could afford it, the place looked similar to anything Thailand offers of a similar vein.

I will be having another early evening, but it will be questionable whether I will manage any sleep before my wife is home.

I just checked Google for the temperatures here in Surrey where I live. Supposedly at 6 p.m., it was 25º C. (77º F.); but what is remarkable to me is that there is some rain predicted for Friday. The claim is that there is a 30% chance at any point during that day.

We do need it! There has been no rain for several weeks.

I am going to conclude this post here and watch another one or two of those Thailand videos before going downstairs and fetching the can of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol) that I have in the fridge freezer / icebox for me to soon watch some T.V. with.
