Face of a Stranger

Even though I did get fairly wet on last evening's five-mile+ walk, I managed to leave here at 8 p.m. and thus had the time to do some shopping comfortably at Save-On-Foods when I was about a mile from my return home.

I had an entertaining time of it with an older South Asian woman who had shanghaied me from where I stood at the cashier lineup ─ the woman insisted that she would put through my purchases at one of the self-serve stations.

She was initially flummoxed when I declared that I was a cash customer, but then decided that she could still handle the sale.

She proceeded to scan my five purchases, and then took my More card, learning that I did not wish to redeem any of my points.

She next went to another electronic setup and began ringing up the sale, and then suddenly looked most concerned. Apologizing, she confessed that she had mistakenly redeemed 15,000 of my More points, reducing the purchases price by $15.

All along, I had been practically teasing her because each step had been more complex than she had made out when she summoned me from the lineup. And now this!

I was relentless.

I didn't much care that she had used up those points, but she was determined that there must be some remedying solution.

So she had me pay her the reduced bill amount; and then she took my More card and began fussing about with the electronic setup she had been working with, all the while looking so comically serious ─ she resembled 'someone who had just run over my pet dog'.

Finally with great relief on her face, she said that she had managed to restore my points ─ now all I had to do was pay her the $15 by which my purchase bill had been reduced, so I did that.

She now had two receipts ─ the first one showing the points I initially had, along with the 15,000 point reduction; and then the second receipt showed some imaginary transaction that gained me back the 15,000 points, and the restored total balance was thereon displayed.

In taking me from the lineup to 'help' speed things up for me because there had only been the one cashier on duty, my actual wait time ended up being two or three times what it would have been had I never left the lineup.

But the play this allowed me in tormenting the woman was well worthwhile.

I got back home to find that my younger brother had not yet shown up, so I was able to put away my purchases and then dress down, and have full control of the T.V. for when my brother did finally get home and joined me for some shows together.

Using our Android TV Box, I led us off with an episode of Edgar Wallace Mysteries ─ September 1964's Face of a Stranger. This mini-movie (54:18) proved unusually interesting.

Note that I used this link at OK.ru, if you care to see the feature for yourself.

I then played an even slightly older episode of The Avengers ─ season or series two's episode 13 ("Death Dispatch").

Something notable in that episode was that towards its conclusion, John Steed actually grabbed the villain's innocent young adult daughter and held a gun to her head in order to shield himself and his partner Cathy Gale who were being held prisoners at gunpoint.

I cannot ever recall before seeing the 'hero' jeopardize the life of someone innocent by using him or her as a shield.

Next I tuned in Workin' Moms ─ season three's episode five ("Stand for Something").

After that we just watched some randomly-played YouTube videos via the SmartTube app that I have downloaded into our Android TV Box.

I'm now unsure, but my brother may not have sought his bedroom until at least 2:40 a.m.

I may not have gotten to bed for another half hour or more. Yet my wife had still not come home following her full day working at the Thai restaurant where she has part-time employment.

She did eventually get home overnight, but I never heard her (we have separate bedrooms).

My morning today was to begin just past 8:40 a.m., but my brother was considerably later. Around 9:30 a.m. I took possession of the T.V. and was very soon out into the backyard tool shed for some exercise.

I returned into the house to find him now present for some T.V.

I led us off with a 20-minute (20:38) video added yesterday to BitChute's wil paranormal channel: 99% OF DOCTORS LYING ABOUT COVID PLUS SO MUCH MORE THAT YOU ARE PERHAPS NOT AWARE OF.

The world has gone crazy and what you don't know is also crazy. People watch the nightly news but learn nothing that is true about what's going on in the world. So it's up to certain individuals to set them straight whether they want to believe it or not.

And then we watched the last half or so of a video we had suspended yesterday for want of time. Not quite an hour long (57:55) overall, it had been added yesterday to BitChute's ittabena channel: How To Make Millions Selling Drugs Under the CIA. 3-28-2024.

Barry Seal, Mena AR, Bill Clinton, George H.W. "Poppy" Bush, Ollie North, Gary Webb, Freeway Ricky Ross, finally all brought into one story. Gary Webb did not shoot himself, twice, in the head, with a shotgun, on the eve of the publishing of his second book, which we never got to see.

This was certainly interesting, but it was so fast-paced and with so very much crammed into it that it was practically impossible to follow along and fathom it all.

We were to get about midway through yet another long video when it, too, had to be suspended. This time my brother was not even seeking bed rest ─ he was leaving for the day.

I had my day's first meal, and then was to bed for a needed nap before my wife was yet up.

I rose ─ possibly around 2:30 p.m. ─ to find her up. We did not interact too much ─ she was looking rather miserable. And then sometime towards 3:30 p.m. she left without a word, leaving me believing that she was likely going shopping or some such.

However, I am now wondering if maybe she had to work the latter part of today, even though she normally has Wednesdays off.

The day has had quite a mix of Sun and cloud. The Sun was strong in the early evening when I tuned in an episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star ─ episode seven ("Tommy Dearest") of season four. With the show I had my supper and a can of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol).

I was tempted to have some further drink, but I decided against it. I have an early a.m. walk planned, so I will be rising at 1:30 a.m. to start readying for it.

Anyway, it is nearing 8:30 p.m. already, so I am going to consider this post done and be prepared to get to bed by 9:30 p.m. at latest. I actually thought that today was a bath day, and I was all set to have it until just now looking at my wall calendar and realizing the truth (I bathe every fourth day).

My wife is still away, so maybe she is working.
