Terminator Salvation

Sometimes I have to admit that luck is on my side.

Last night when I went to bed, I somehow forgot to set my cellphone alarm for 4 a.m. as planned.

Yet a point eventually arrived where I felt sufficiently well enough slept that I opted to check the time ─ something I do not like to do, for the blast of bright screen light is disruptive to sleep because it fools the body into accepting that daytime has arrived.

Nevertheless, I checked ... it was 4:06 a.m.

Such a close call!

But was that having good luck on my side, or would true good luck have been thinking to check that my alarm had been set when I went to bed?

When I rose, to my considerable surprise I saw that my wife's bedroom door was pulled closed. Only rarely does she spend a Saturday / Sunday night at home ─ she typically spends her free weekend time off work somewhere in Vancouver.

Anyway, just a few minutes past 6 a.m. I was on the 5.625-mile round trip hike to Real Canadian Superstore for some grocery shopping.

I hate having it daylit outside when I do this trip; and of course it is only going to get worse right up until the Summer equinox of June 20 (1:50 p.m.) when we have our longest day of daylight the entire year.

Fortunately this morning I did not have to cope with crows squawking at me. They seemed content to just ignore me ─ live and let live. A few times I even passed by within five or so feet of one or another of them foraging on the ground.

There did not seem to be all that many people abroad on foot either ─ all most appreciated.

I did my shopping, parting with $50.30, and was back home ere quite 8:30 a.m. No one else was yet up. I quickly found myself quite overcome with the need for further time in bed, so well ahead of 9 a.m. I made that return.

But I was only there for ... well, gosh, I don't know ─ maybe an hour?

My brother had by then just gone downstairs to discover that the Sunday morning edition of The Province that I subscribe to had not been delivered. Certainly I could lodge a complaint, but why bother? The news it contains would already be old enough; and it's been our experience that a replacement newspaper does not get delivered until the following morning when the deliverer is on the regular delivery route.

Besides, it has gotten to the point that I really only find value in the digital news subscription tax credit that a subscriber can get when filing an annual tax return. If ever this credit is done away with, I shall be cancelling my government propaganda subscriptions for the Saturday and Sunday editions of the two newspapers that I subscribe to.

My brother had not yet turned on the T.V. when I joined him downstairs, so I got control of it first and put our Android TV Box in play.

My first choice was a nearly 1¼-hour (1:13:19) video that I realize now had been uploaded back on April 14 ─ I do not tend to watch videos of current content if they are more than a week old.

This one sounded good to me as it played ─ Sue Grey: New Zealand Legal Updates on BitChute's Wandering Citizen channel.

Please join me for a spirited discussion with lawyer Sue Grey about the new political landscape here in New Zealand, recent Professional Conduct Committee and Health Tribunal decisions, and much much more!

I loved Sue's voice and strong accent! But not 10 minutes into the video my brother bitched that it was "kind of boring."

I let it play until a few minutes later he grumped, "This is all old news."

It took just about every restraint I had to not stalk off and leave him with our T.V.'s basic cable programming (he has no idea how to run the Android TV Box). But I did switch the T.V. back to basic cable and just sat there drinking my coffee until he questioned why I didn't just play an episode of "the what-the-fuck files."

He meant The Why Files, but its icon is meant to resemble the initials for that vulgar phrase.

Oh, other things were said, but I kept my voice tone under control for a change.

I was not going to cater to him any further than I did, so I just opted to resume a movie we had to pause two days ago at the 25-minute mark ─ the extremely exciting 2009 Terminator Salvation.

I had actually recorded the movie onto a flash or thumb drive because I find myself somewhat attracted to Bryce Dallas Howard. However, her role was rather inconsequential, and actress Moon Bloodgood had prominence as quite the action star.

It was not fully certain that I had not before seen the movie, but if I had, then I must have been very drunk and now cannot remember anything with sureness.

And now I am going to risk watching the sequel Terminator Genisys (2015) at some point once I get it recorded.

As for Terminator Salvation, it is available online at various sources, but I will only recommend one ─ try this link at UpMovies.net. This website is presently the only source that I have noticed which does not yet try to impose advertisement popups and hijacks before a person can get the movie playing.

My wife rose ─ possibly prior to my playing the movie ─ and showered; and then before it was yet 10:20 a.m. she headed for the front door with just a "Goodbye." So I have no idea why she came home last night, nor where she left to go to this morning.

She only tends to be communicative and especially nice to me when she wants money.

Anyway, once the movie was done, my brother and I watched maybe three random YouTube videos via the SmartTube app downloaded into our Android TV Box, and then he sought some bed rest before leaving early in the afternoon to socialize for the rest of the sunny day.

I had a substantial first meal of the day, and was tempted to sit out in the backyard's sunshine, but I was undeniably too short on sleep ─ I would have gotten nothing else done had I not napped.

The evening plan is for another walk in order to free up my later evening for some T.V. and brews once my brother and I are both back home. It seems my eldest stepson had another 12-hour graveyard shift (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.), for he left for somewhere in the latter afternoon. It is typical for my stepsons and I not to exchange a word over a day; and often, I have no idea if both of them happen to be home because they also speak little between themselves.

But the younger lad is holidaying in Thailand, so I know he was not home at any point today.

To give myself a wee boost for this evening's outing, I had myself a can of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol) while watching the one-season finale episode #8 ("Rock and a Hard Place") of 21 Thunder.

Due to a lack of properly working links in the four main streaming apps I use, I had to once again resort to UpMovies.net at this link for the episode.

I see that the UpMovies.net website is now also inflicting gross advertisements upon its audience.

I was never a fan of the series, but this episode was certainly exciting enough ─ especially the soccer game. Even so, I can understand why there were no further seasons.

Oh, crap ─ it is approaching 8 p.m. I must ready and get out of here!
