Some Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon

I gave my younger brother the benefit of the doubt last evening when I noticed him arriving home just after 8:30 p.m. while I was watching some T.V. via our T9 Android 8.1 TV Box. So instead of turning off the T.V. and hightailing it upstairs so that I could get to bed early, I remained where I was.

He proved to be in acceptable condition (i.e., not blatantly drunk), so I finished watching my show and then tuned in an episode each of three of the T.V. series we follow together.

My wife arrived home during that time, having probably worked at her friend's Thai restaurant.

I watched T.V. until well after 11:00 p.m. before leaving my brother on his own and by 11:30 p.m. I was into my bed. By this time my wife had preceded me for some while, but seemingly yet to sleep ─ neither of us do that well.

It was different for me last night, though. I never checked the time overnight until I rose around 5:30 a.m. to use the bathroom; and after returning to bed, I was to find some further sleep and did not check the time again until maybe 7:11 a.m. Even then, I was to remain in bed quite some while before rallying and getting myself up so that I could put some work into the post I am steadily building at one of my six hosted websites.

My wife was to rise around or soon after 8:00 a.m. ─ most unusual for her, and ahead of my brother. While she was in the bathroom, I went on out to the backyard toolshed to do a set of chin-ups and two sets of pull-ups, then I returned here and resumed work on the website post.

When first I came into the house, the electric kettle in the kitchen was just about to turn itself off ─ my wife must have turned it on.

By this time my brother was showering, and I believed my wife to be fussing about in our bedroom ─ the door was open, but I did not check on her nor call out that her water had boiled. However, after a time I became suspicious and looked into the room ─ she was not there.

She had already left on gone somewhere. She must have been too impatient to wait to have a hot drink to take with her.

I don't know where she went ─ grocery shopping, I am sure; but she was back again somewhat before 10:00 a.m. when I usually join my brother to watch some T.V. during the workweek.

As it turned out, he was to have to wait ─ my wife wanted to send some money online to her mother in Thailand through a bank that is presently advertising a $50 'refund' to people making such transfers for the first time through that bank.

We eventually got her access ─ for whatever reason, the bank was not recognizing her password. I finally had to reset her password for her ─ using that very password as her new one. So clearly, whatever she had previously done to set up her account was either incomplete; or else the password she gave me was for something else, but it now has become her bank password, too.

When I joined my brother, I had a movie in mind for us ─ even though I correctly expected that he was going to bellyache about the choice.

The movie was 2015's Weepah Way for Now.

I know the title makes no sense, but early into the movie it is explained that "Weepah Way" is the street in the Los Angeles area where the two main characters ─ a pair of sister ─ lived.

The actresses portraying the sisters are themselves sisters, and I was very familiar with one of them ─ AJ Michalka. Her name may have meant nothing to me, but I have been a fan of hers for some years in her role as "Lainey" in the T.V. series The Goldbergs. She has even branched out into a series of her own based upon that character ─ the series is Schooled.

I watch that series, too, solely because of her; but I see in the Wikipedia article that I linked to that the series was cancelled this year after its second season.

I found the movie to be fairly interesting; and although I cannot identify where I recognize her sister Aly Michalka from, she definitely seems to be a familiar face.

My brother, as I said, did not care for the movie and began disappearing for lengthy segments ─ it's his way of displaying his dislike for my benefit.

I have to admit that the ending of the movie was poor ─ a very long sequence filmed inside a car of the two sisters wordlessly riding away from their Weepah Way residence.

Perhaps I would not have described the movie as "fairly interesting" if it was not for my attraction to actress AJ Michalka as the "Lainey Lewis" character ─ I cannot certainly say. But what I can say is that I cannot ever imagine choosing to watch the movie again.

The sister actresses are sure in good shape ─ there were some nice bikini scenes of them.

Perhaps the movie is mainly suitable for fans of the actresses, who are both recording artists (see Wikipedia's article Aly & AJ).

As recording artists, they have their own YouTube channel that you might want to check out: Aly & AJ. Heck, their most recent music video was just uploaded 10 days ago after being recorded on "April 29th in Aly's living room during quarantine."

The things one can find out with a little research! ─ I knew none of this until this afternoon's work on this post.

I must change topics now ─ my evening is already upon me, and I still have an exercise session to undergo, as well as a bath.

I think my wife went out shopping a second time in the morning; and then late in the morning, she probably had to drive away to work at the restaurant, for she hasn't returned.

I got in some afternoon sunning. Although the morning was mostly overcast, the afternoon developed into quite a sunny one. At 2:33 p.m. I began just over 40 minutes out in the backyard, seated low in a lawn- or deckchair while wearing just a pair of cutoffs, and facing directly into the Sun. My brother had just left for the afternoon.

I needed a nap of my own, but I didn't want to forsake the sunning. Fortunately, being somewhat groggy helped the time pass more quickly than it otherwise would have, for a few times I almost fell asleep.

I thereafter had a meal, and then took that nap.

I'm going to stop my post here, for it is now just after 6:30 p.m.
