Since I am fully determined to attempt the four-mile round trip hike to the nearest government liquor store as early after dark as possible ─ and that should be around 5 p.m. ─ this post is going to be short. And I will not actually publish it until after I have successfully completed that excursion and am safely back home.
The primary purpose of the trip will be to buy my younger brother his Christmas gift ─ a 1.75-litre bottle of Ballantine's Finest Blended Scotch Whisky, which is listed at $56.99.
I may also buy myself a 750-ml bottle of either Captain Morgan or else Bacardi Gold rum ─ both are on sale for $21.99. I prefer dark rum, but it's a dollar more a bottle. Nothing else is cheaper, or I would buy it.
I only want it to emotionally augment any Christmas movies I will watch here alone. The best Christmas movies make me weepy, and some alcohol truly enhances that state's arrival and full blooming.
At least the weather has been well above freezing due to wet weather rolling in.
If I perform this errand, I will not be going on the scheduled early a.m. 5½-mile walk that would see me rising at 2 a.m. to tackle. So that is my additional motivation ─ I can watch evening T.V. with my brother once he is home from his daily socializing, and then I can remain in bed overnight.
I have been texting my working wife this afternoon ─ we are still $600 short on the monthly mortgage due tomorrow, and it is her fault (she probably gambled the money away). I told her that if she does not come straight home after work and have the money deposited (she thinks that she might get paid today), then I will have to tell her eldest son so that he can pay the money instead.
He already contributed $400 on Saturday, so he is going to have to be told why the full mortgage amount is not in the account.
I believe that he is working a 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. 12-hour shift right now, so he ought to be home all evening to speak to.
The only other item I shall bother mentioning is some T.V. I watched this morning with my brother. Through the use of our Android TV Box, I first tuned in an October 22 upload by LibertyCCanada to YouTube: ERIC METAXAS: WHY WE MUST STAND! [OPEN MIKE REWIND].
On this week's episode, Mike sits down with best-selling author and historical biographer, Eric Metaxas, to discuss the necessity of courageous people to stand up during hard times.
Will you be like Luther, Wilberforce, and Bonhoeffer? Will you count the cost?
If so, STAND WITH US!
The video was basically an hour in duration. I have seen Eric Metaxas interviewed once before, but I can find no trace of it being mentioned by me in my blog. As a result, I could not but help wonder if maybe this interview was actually a repeat.
There are so very many videos to watch that I detest wasting time by re-watching anything.
Consequently, when I thereafter tuned in an interview hosted by Dr. Mercola that was nearly as long, only to have it mentioned late into the video that he and his guest were actually speaking together sometime in 2019, I was far from happy about it.
That was pre-scamdemic, for Pete's sake! So I am not going to cite the specific video, for I feel it does not warrant any recognition.
We didn't watch anything else worth mentioning.
My early afternoon nap was deep, if short. I even awoke from it thinking for some long seconds that I had actually awakened during my night's sleep! This has happened before quite recently. Weird.
Okay, I am going to pause this post here, and I darned well hope that when I later resume it, that I can be announcing the successful liquor shopping expedition.
My mission was accomplished! And despite the numerous people abroad during my walk, my sole interaction was with the very friendly female Asian cashier.
It was likely nearer 6 p.m. than 5 p.m. when I left, but at most just 6:53 p.m. by the time I was back home. Full price with taxes? $89.90.
So maybe I can squeeze in a Christmas movie before my brother shows up this evening. Tomorrow's post will tell that tale.
