First Taste of Snow

Without question, I was in poor form yesterday ─ as that day's post ably testifies. Fortunately, I improved once I started watching a Christmas movie. I had expected that I would be dissolving emotionally, but such did not evolve.

Actually, I had the final 10 - 15 minutes of a Christmas movie remaining to be watched from Friday evening. I had aborted it due to my younger brother's arrival home from his daily socializing.

That movie was (supposedly) 2015's Salvation Street, which also uses the longer title Christmas on Salvation Street. The reason that I say it was "supposedly" from 2015 is because RottenTomatoes.com claims that it was released in December 2016, while the description for it as offered by YouTube Movies & Shows (where you can try to watch it) claims that it was released in 2011.

The only people who laud this movie are profoundly Christian, and would do similarly for any 'faith' movie. Anybody else who tuned it in because they were expecting a Christmas movie would not share anything like that level of generosity.

The movie could have been set at any other time of the year. Christmas was purely incidental, and only related to the closing sequence where there was a Christmas dinner and celebration at the shelter on Salvation Street.

All of the music in the movie was unfamiliar and had nothing to do with any Christmas music I have ever heard. Even the soundtrack as the closing credits rolled along was non-Christmas as far as I could tell, and was by a rap artist ─ I abhor rap.

The movie reeked of the amateurish. And one incident in the movie that I was incredulous over involved the pastor's youngest daughter, who seemed to be in her early teens, along with a Black lad around her own age; she beamed as she presented an assortment of candy to her father that she and the boy had stolen from an Asian woman's store where the oldest daughter had just begun to work.

How on Earth could this devout young teen have been raised by a pastor, yet she had no idea that sneaking a horde of candy from a struggling store-owner was not only theft; she even apparently thought that it was something to almost proudly display to her father?

I thought that this was absolute nonsense, and cannot imagine how it was written into the script ─ which the opening of the movie claimed was based upon a true event.

I have not heard of the young actress who played the young daughter, but her name is Olivia Rose Keegan, and I have seen her birthdate listed as being November 22, 1999. So if the movie was filmed during 2015 and released ahead of Christmas, she probably had not yet had her 16th birthday in November of 2015. In other words, in the real world, the actress was at least 15 years old, if not yet 16.

I would love to know how a 15-year-old raised in a Christian home would have no idea that shoplifting was stealing. This was ludicrous.

Incidentally, Olivia apparently was a recurring member of a 2021 - 2022 T.V. series called High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. From what I understand these two photos here and here relate to that series (I hope the links remain valid).

If you only want to see a Christian feel-good faith movie, fine ─ enjoy! But if you wanted an actual Christmas movie as most of us understand Christmas movies to be, skip this one with gusto.

The full Christmas movie that I did watch last evening was also from 2015: The Flight Before Christmas

I did mostly enjoy it, but due to lead actress Mayim Bialik's absolutely frumpy role as The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon's love interest, I do not feel the remotest biological attraction towards her. Fairly late into the movie they did glam her up, and I was impressed by the result ─ but for me, it did not shake the image of her Amy role in The Big Bang Theory.

Consequently, I struggled to identify with the lead male character's eventual complete romantic obsession with her.

Even so, had I never in my life seen her in The Big Bang Theory, I might have been somewhat drawn to her in her role in The Flight Before Christmas ─ into the latter stages of the movie, at least.

It is rare that I am unable to vicariously allow myself to be emotionally and biologically connected to the lead actress / character in a Christmas movie.

Following the movie, I got some work done here at my computer in my bedroom before going to bed, for my cellphone alarm was to be set for 4 a.m. in order to give me plenty of time to adjust myself for the shopping expedition on foot that I had planned which would see me leaving home shortly before 6 a.m.

I never expected that my younger brother would be rising ahead of 5 a.m., apparently unable to sleep for some reason. I had my bedroom door pulled ajar at the time, so he passed by without communication as he headed downstairs to boil water for an instant coffee and to spend time reading the two weekend newspapers that I subscribe to ─ the Vancouver Sun did not get delivered yesterday due to "a paper shortage", so he had it and The Province to immerse himself into.

Note that it had been raining overnight, and sounded quite serious at times.

When my time of departure was nearing, I went downstairs and did exchange some banter with my brother before I ventured off into what was then one of those serious bouts of rain. I even noticed the odd large flake of wet snow.

Had there not been such rain, my plan was to do some grocery shopping at a store that required a 5.625-mile round trip hike. That was not to be this morning ─ I had not walked a half block before the cold frontal wind and frigid rain were giving me brain freeze ─ quite apart from wetting my clothing.

I also meant to deposit my brother's monthly expenses reconciliation cheque for something well under $300 ─ the targeted ATM was nearly a mile hence.

The distant shopping excursion got scotched, but I felt it obligatory to make the deposit. And along the way, I stopped at an elementary school playground to perform the half dozen sets of pull-ups and chin-ups that have also become obligatory on my early outings.

I cannot yet progress beyond three pull-ups in the opening set, and two repetitions in the subsequent sets. But just making those first three pull-ups on the sopping wet and frigid bar had my fingers and thumb stinging through my drenched gloves.

Despite that, I was filled with more vigour than would normally have been the case with these pull-ups and chin-ups, so at least that was a bonus. And when I was done, I almost felt like jogging a little.

The greater distance was definitely out of the question, but there is another market near the ATM which opens at 7 a.m. Unfortunately, due to how early I had left home, it would have meant somehow killing a half hour or more ─ I was too cold from the freezing rain. It's intensity came and went, but it was always frigid.

I got the deposit accomplished; and by the time I was back home, I may have put in a total of 1½ miles of walking.

There is one other market only a half mile from home, but in the opposite direction from where I had gone. This one, though, does not open until 8 a.m. As I sat at home wide awake from the outing, and realizing that the time had now surpassed 7 a.m., it seemed perfectly feasible that I could hike to that store to do the shopping.

Thus became the course of my morning. I have not shopped at that store in months, for I deem 8 a.m. to be too late ─ I enormously dislike being abroad once the day starts becoming busy.

Notwithstanding, I quickly discovered that under the conditions of weather experienced this morning, not many people were bustling about. Also, at this time of year, there are not so many people out there as would be the case in sunny, warm months. The gloom keeps the majority of people at home.

I got my shopping done, but was disappointed to discover that one of the three primary purposes of my shopping was not stocked on the relevant shelf ─ the one-litre cartons of Dairyland whipping cream (33% butter fat) that I use for my instant coffees.

This was a bummer. I have better than half a litre of cream still in supply, so I am going to have to be sparing in its use this coming week.

Due to how early my brother rose today, he began watching morning T.V. much earlier than is customary. As a result, when I joined him well ahead of 9 a.m., he invited me to put our Android TV Box into action. I had already researched and knew that Odessa Orlewicz had uploaded a video yesterday that was nearly 1¾ hours in duration (1:41:25), so I tuned that in: The United Nations To Announce Their 10 NEW Commandments For Humanity This Week.

Early into the video, Odessa had as a guest a friend of hers named Bert Mayo who had a much better Biblical understanding that she.

Please note- The interview section where Bert cuts out is only a very short part of the entire show. The rest is not like that.

Learn about these NEW ( prophesied by themselves) commandments , then learn the truth about what the UN is actually up to. I show articles and videos with their true agenda and it ain't pretty. They want to get rid of most of humanity.

I next tuned in a very short (just under two minutes) video on BitChute featuring a warning and revelation from Chris Sky: TRUTH DOG NEWS CHRIS SKY, CANADA TRY AND SLIDE 500,000,000,000 US LOAN UNDER THE TABLE TO AHEM HELP.

pirates , LOOT World EXCLUSIVE BOMBSHELL. High level banker spills the beans.... Chrystia Freeland was in the USA LAST WEEK to secure a 500 BILLION dollar loan for Canada. Secretly. Without our knowledge or consent. NOBODY IN THE WORLD is talking about this. We need to FORCE THIS ISSUE into MAINSTREAM MEDIA. - your friendly neighborhood Chris Sky.

If this is true, the entire Liberal government needs to be put on trial and then jailed.

I then tuned in another very short video ─ this one was on YouTube. I had seen it earlier this past week, and wanted my brother to see it. It just manages to exceed two minutes in length, and may have been recorded back in 2010. Whatever the case, it features U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson questioning Admiral Robert F. Willard about the island of Guam.

If you have never seen this sequence, please watch ─ and ask yourself how in blazes it could be so difficult for someone to ask the simple question, "How wide is Guam at its narrowest?"

The last video I tuned in was 1¾ hours (1:46:04), and uploaded to Rumble three days ago by Vaccine Safety Research Foundation: Full Episode #54: Beating Covid in the Courts.

Bobbie Anne Cox, a NYC attorney fighting Covid mandates, will be joining us. She is a speaker at the upcoming Brownstone Institute conference in Miami in December. In April 2022, Ms. Cox filed a lawsuit against NY Governor Kathy Hochul's executive regulation setting up infection quarantine camps in New York -- and in July 2022 Cox won the case striking down the regulation. The NY Attorney General immediately appealed the decision, and no one is talking about it!
Also joining us, will be former U.S. Marine Captain and military attorney Dale Saran, who is fighting to end the Pentagon's Covid-19 vaccine mandate. He is representing over a thousand service members in two separate legal cases.
Tracy Henderson is a California attorney and founder of the California Parents' Union.
Bring your questions for these legal experts!

We watched maybe 40 minutes of it, by which time it was around 11:30 a.m. and my brother wanted to suspend it so that he could seek some needed further bed rest prior to leaving early in the afternoon for the remainder of the day to socialize.

I have no idea if he will want to pursue the remainder of the video tomorrow or not. It was unquestionably interesting. I am left bewildered that NY Governor Kathy Hochul is not only still in office, but has not been jailed for what she attempted ─ and seems intent on still attempting ─ to do to the people of New York State.

After my brother sought his rest, I had myself a much larger than usual first meal of the day. I had still not sought my early afternoon nap when my brother later emerged to take off for the day, announcing that some snow that we had earlier clearly seen mixed in with falling rain, was beginning to thinly blanket the lawn.

By mid-afternoon or soon thereafter, the rain had ceased, and the sky seemed to be having the cloud cover break up. But that was short-lived. Before the afternoon was done, it was again raining.

I want to have a bath, so I am going to bring this post to a close. I will save working quickly on a post in my private blog until after my bath.

I want to mention that I have been home alone for the major part of the afternoon, yet at times I have heard sounds such that it seemed like someone was passing by my bedroom door ─ this two or even three times. Yet the house was in darkness. The last time, I went downstairs and turned on a light in the kitchen, and had quite an eerie feeling as I negotiated the darkness downstairs. I still do not feel all that comfortable as I sit here with my back to my open bedroom door.
