The Good, the Bad, and Me

Yesterday I posted here how my Blogger account claimed I had some ridiculous visitation record to my blog that day of ... well, it was way past 800 visits. Today so far at 4:39 p.m.? Five visits.

Anyway, despite rather poor sleep, I chose to rise somewhat ahead of my 3 a.m. alarm because I saw no sense in just wasting time lying there in bed. However, I never got away on the ¾-mile round trip hobble to the elementary school playground until pretty close to 4 a.m. ─ I'm good at dawdling here at my bedside computer.

Everything was wet from recent rain, but there was none happening at that time. It also seemed relatively mild in temperature. When I got to the dark playground, I could see that the cloud cover was somewhat broken.

Rather strangely, I do not exactly recall my poor totals in the half dozen sets of pull-ups and chin-ups, so I am just going to guess that I managed four pull-ups in the opening set, and then just two repetitions in the other sets of the exercises. I do clearly remember that the final two sets of pull-ups on the half-rings were excruciatingly difficult, and I doubt that I achieved the elevation that I know I am capable of.

I then did two sets of dead hangs ─ a 40-count in the first, and then a 30-count in the second.

After that came the 10 slow full-range decline push-ups on a nearby metal ramp. Those became so difficult that the final four required me to rest at arm's length for a number of seconds before seeking the descent and then rise of each of those repetitions. I only finished them because 10 are my usual ─ it had been the same in achieving the two half-rings pull-ups in both of those sets.

Due to my poor showing on the dead hangs, I returned to the dried monkey bar I had used and held out for ... well, dang, I don't remember. Could it have been a 70-count, or was it just a 60-count?

I had exercised without my jacket, so after getting back home I weighed myself fully clothed but jacketless: around 185 pounds.

I don't fully understand why I am so weak in my old age. I'm not making any gains, either. It seems to be all I can manage to just remain at my present level and not decline further.

I didn't get back to bed too much before 6 a.m.

My wife had not come home last night, by the way.

I think that I remained in bed until a little after 8:30 a.m., and had dressed and then opened my bedroom door just as my younger brother was emerging from his own bedroom for the morning to watch T.V. news shows and drink some instant coffee.

I joined him no earlier than 9:10 a.m., and quickly enough got invited to start operation of our Android TV Box.

First up was a 32-minute (32:57) video published yesterday to Rumble's Libertytalkcanada channel: Canada's First Nations Starting To PUBLICLY Admit "Reconciliation" Is A Money SCAM!

First Nations On Reserves Finally Starting To ADMIT "Reconciliation" Is A Money SCAM Helping No One. Will The UN's DRIPA Be Repealed? BC, Canada Land Grab/Resource Chaos WIDENS And NDP's David Eby Is Feeling The HEAT. See the latest updates in this episode.

The second video I tuned in was nonsense ─ not only did we cut it short, but I am not going to include that channel any longer in my rotation of favourites. Heck, I'm not even going to identify it.

I then tuned in a six-minute (6:14) video uploaded December 8 to YouTube's Rebel News channel: Canadian Taxpayers Federation hosts 'Naughty and Nice' awards.

Rebel News journalist Sydney Fizzard reports from Calgary as the Canadian Taxpayers Federation releases its 2025 'Naughty and Nice' list.

Switching gears entirely, I next tuned in Supernatural ─ episode 11 ("Breakdown") of season 13.

I then tuned in a 17-minute YouTube video I had previously recorded back on May 11, but it seems that the specific channel is no longer available, so there is no sense mentioning it.

We finished with a 27-minute (27:42) uploaded October 2, 2013, to YouTube's The Best Film Archives channel: Why Did the US Enter the Vietnam War | US Army Documentary | 1965.

This US Army documentary film outlines the United States policy in Vietnam as stated by President Lyndon B. Johnson in an address to the American people and the world at large.

President Johnson in answering the query ’Why Vietnam?’ explains the background of US government thinking, its views on the situation in Vietnam, the origin of American commitments  there, and the build-up from supplies to military advisors, to large numbers of US troops, in response to the ever increasing challenge of North Vietnam supported by the Chinese communists.

Secretary of State Dean Rusk appears in the film to explain the numerous attempts on the part of the United States and other nations of the world to bring about ceasefire in Vietnam.

Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara assures the audience that the United States seeks no wider conflict.

After that one, my brother returned to his bedroom for further bed rest. I, on the other hand, did as I did yesterday ─ I had a first meal of my day that has left me so replete that I am again going to have a very light second and final meal of my day here at 6 p.m. At least I managed some light exercising in my wife's vacant bedroom.

And so I shall here break from blogging for a few hours to eat that bit of a meal, and to watch some shows here on my bedside computer while indulging in a couple of Cariboo Malts (8% alcohol).

First up was Wynonna Earp ─ episode nine ("Crazy") of season four. My source was this GOOJARA.to link.

I gotta say, I sure didn't get too much out of this episode ─ it was lacking. Maybe this poor reception is because I am feeling rather low on vitality. Earlier I had realized that there was time this evening to tune in a Christmas movie, but I just did not feel like watching one.

Wynonna Earp finished up well before 8 p.m., and Bev was still on her own in the living room, my brother not having bused back home yet from his essential daily social drinking.

I almost groaned when I saw that my next choice in the rotation of shows I watch was to be The Flash ─ Lord, I despise that idiot's sanctimonious sermonizing that 'all-human-life-is-sacred' and 'no-one-must-ever-be-killed' B.S.

But this episode six ("The Good, the Bad and the Lucky") of final season nine did not feature that clown. Instead, the episode centred around a character portrayed by endearing sweetheart actress Sugar Lyn Beard.

My episode source was this CineGo.tv link, and I had myself another can of beer. So that was two in all.

The episode ended ahead of 9 p.m., and Bev was still on her own downstairs.

However, he did arrive home just as I was finally retrieving a 750-ml bottle of Haywire 2022 Merlot from the living room cabinet that my wife and I exclusively use. Bev was at the dining table and out of sight of me, but she was still watching T.V.

I had been meaning for a few nights now to get a bottle from there because my D'Eaubonne V.S.O.P. Brandy was nearly done, but I kept forgetting to do this retrieval while no one was present. At least it worked out ─ my brother and I bantered a bit, but it was gloomy and he never noticed the bottle I had in my possession as I came back upstairs to my bedroom.

I had read online that an unopened average bottle of red wine can last as little as two years to as many as a decade or more. Since I am no longer able to be walking miles and able to buy wine like I used to do up until the end of November last year when I developed what I diagnosed as crippling plantar fasciitis, the several bottles purchased prior to then may be degrading ... for all I know.

This particular bottle of wine is from Summerland, B.C.'s, King Family Vineyard.

I never opened it this evening ─ I merely finished up the last half or more shot of the aforementioned brandy while watching Whitney ─ episode 20 ("G-Word") of season one. Until just now, I had thought that I had watched the season finale ─ I'm relieved that there are a couple more episodes.

My source was this CineGo.tv link.

I only feel mildly buzzed and ─ were it not already so bloody late ─ 10:11 p.m. as I type these words ─ I would watch another show so I can have some of that wine. This sucks!

My final bedtime is going to be a little under 11:40 p.m. from the looks of things.
