What a Drag Life Can Be

The latter part of my night was so riddled with sleeplessness that it was all I could do to resist checking the time, so I cannot estimate just when the condition first beset me. Perhaps I was anxious about my planned two-mile round trip hobble to do some shopping at Save-On-Foods? I have not been there in many months.

At least I managed to remain in bed until my 5 a.m. alarm chimed. Save-On-Foods opens at 7 a.m., but it might have been a surer thing to have set the alarm for 4:30 or 4:45 a.m.

I busied myself as I always do here at my computer. I saw by way of Thai restaurant food left in the fridge that my wife had come home last night ─ I saw it when I was preparing a mug of strong, hot instant coffee downstairs in the kitchen to help fortify me.

Very shortly after 6:30 a.m. I saw that I would need to start readying very soon for the outing, but I got caught up in something on Facebook and before I realized it, the time was something like 6:47 a.m.

Galvanized, I hurriedly dressed, and barely ahead of 7 a.m. I was outside in the chilly wet morning and walked to the mouth of the driveway before all resolve for the trip melted right away.

I came back into the house, utterly defeated.

I needed to have been at my destination right after it opened, not barely leaving home by then! I abhor being abroad in daylight, especially now that my bad right knee has me lame and I barely do better than a hobble.

I also dislike shopping when stores have started to become busy.

Why did I 𝒻𝓊𝒸𝓀 myself up like this when the visit to the store was so important?

What to do? I had to shop for groceries, for tomorrow I plan to visit the local private liquor store when it opens at 8 a.m. I am hoping that they may have some sort of alcohol gift packs I can get as Christmas gifts for my two stepsons.

I'm so damned limited on what I can do now that I cannot walk far anymore!

I resolved that I would shop at No Frills a half mile from here ─ it opens at 8 a.m. So to best ensure that I did so, I lied down upon my bed fully clothed in darkness and rested; and when next I checked the time, it was 7:45 a.m., and I never had to bother with getting dressed.

I would be visiting the indoor ATM of a Vancity credit union nearby No Frills before I visited that store to shop, for I wanted to withdraw a precious $200 to have cash enough on hand for tomorrow.

It was raining lightly and very overcast and gloomy ─ perfect for my purposes when I cannot have darkness.

All went well; and by the time I had hobbled home again, my younger brother was already downstairs watching T.V. news shows.

After I put my purchases away and dressed down in my bedroom, I joined him shortly after 9 a.m., soon enough getting his invitation to start operating our Android TV Box.

I led off with a 14-minute (14:54) video published earlier today to Rumble's Real Truth Real News channel: ⚔️♟️ The Grand Chessboard or The Plan for WW3 According to Zbigniew Brzeziński.

On June 4, 2009, Zbigniew Brzezinski, American political scientist, sociologist and U.S. national security advisor: "This crisis will never end until we achieve our goals. Our goals are well known to you - a one world government. That's what we need. And it will be formed whether you like it or not. It's going to get worse and worse from here. It's not a crisis - it's controlled chaos. Society must not only accept the idea of a one-world government, but see it as its only salvation, for this we need wars, famines and epidemics all over the world."

I kept expecting some objection from my brother, but he remained silent. Nevertheless, the video was not particularly long, so I doubt that we'd have been sitting through it if it was double the length or more.

Next we watched Star Trek: Discovery ─ episode seven of season two.

Then we watched the third and final instalment ("Chapter three: A Bag of Gravel") of 2019's miniseries A Christmas Carol. As said in two previous posts, all three episodes are at present available at this GOOJARA.to link.

I was expecting my brother to grow impatient with my next choice; but again, maybe it was only because it was just nine minutes (9:23) that he was patient. The video had been uploaded January 2, 2025, to YouTube's Ember channel: Living in my CAR in Texas.

We finished up with a movie, but only got nigh a half hour through it, so I shall say no more concerning it until we have watched it all.

This has been an idle day ─ absolutely no exercise apart from the morning shopping hobble. Even so, it was also a bath day, so that tedious near-hour chore had to get done. At least the hot water serves to invigorate me, and I needed it, for I was suffering latter afternoon decline despite an early afternoon nap.

Incidentally, stripped naked for the bath I may have weighed as low at 177 pounds. That, and due to the fact that my supper was my first (and only) meal today, I ate a little heavily, I would say.

Right now it is 6:38 p.m., so I am going to take a blogging break to watch a couple of shows here on my bedside computer, and enjoy a couple of Cariboo Malts (7.9% alcohol).

Somewhat unsure, I thought about watching a Christmas movie ... until I saw what was next in my rotation ─ another Christmas movie featuring Black characters.

And about a bakery, no less.

It seemed too much ─ I cannot identify with Black families, so it's nearly impossible for me to immerse myself into such movies. And I have had to get through an inordinate number of them this year.

As a result, I was all set to watch different fare; but then it occurred to me that I wasn't all that keen on watching two or three of the series I follow, either.

So I gave the Christmas movie a shot.

It was 2019's Baking Christmas. My source was this uFLIX.to link.

It proved engaging, and at times I got touched rather keenly. It certainly helped that there were three truly beautiful Black actresses (Khalilah Joi, Leigh-Ann Rose, and Ninja Devoe) to enjoy.

Also, the acting was exceptional.

So I did enjoy it, but I would never choose to watch it again ─ certainly not on my own.

It was quite easy to restrict myself to one can of beer.

I realized at the movie's conclusion (no later than 8:30 p.m.?) that my brother was already home from wherever he had bused to social drink in the early afternoon ahead of 3 p.m.

I found myself to be dreadfully tired ─ I would have gone to bed if I could have expected a long sleep and not just a nap of a few hours that would sabotage the remainder of my night as well as my morning plans.

In checking the rotation of my usual T.V. series that I watch here alone, I saw that Doom Patrol was next up ─ as it happened the first season finale episode 15 ("Ezekiel Patrol"). The series has often been utterly rousing.

So I went for it. My source was to be this GOOJARA.to link.

What a disappointment. The series was exceptional initially, but the last few episodes have become silly nonsense, and this one was as unrealistic and uninspiring as any thus far ─ maybe it was even the worst.

This series has got to pick up!

It was finished no later than 9:56 p.m., and a second can of beer served to get me through it, although I was truly weary. I ought to manage some decent sleep tonight ... I hope.

Nothing this evening invigorated me with vicarious energy. Nothing!

I am going to end this post and spend some time finishing up things left undone here on my computer, and then brush my teeth and get my flagging form to bed with my cellphone alarm set for 6 a.m.

It would be nice to be in bed by 11 p.m., but that might also prove a mistake due to how hard it is for me to sleep into the latter night.

We shall see. Right now it is 10:24 p.m.
