The Worm Is Turning

Early last evening I finished watching the last 10 minutes (less, actually) of a movie that I had almost gotten through two evenings ago, but which I had to cancel out of due to my younger brother's arrival home that first night.

The movie was 2012's Fugitive at 17

It was okay, but it was apparent to me that it was likely a T.V. movie. The only reason that I tuned it in was because I had it on a list due to lead actress Marie Avgeropoulos being featured in it.

IMDb gave a misleading one-sentence description of the film: "Suspected of murdering her best friend, a teenage computer-hacker goes on the run to find the real killer."

The character was NOT suspected of murdering her friend. Rather, it was supposed that she may have been responsible for supplying the drugs that the friend overdosed with.

Also, she did not go "on the run to find the real killer." Instead, the police van she was being conveyed in got hijacked by a criminal crew intent of freeing another female prisoner. The movie heroine ─ "Holly" ─ and one other female prisoner were forced by the hijackers to flee in order for the criminals to better make their getaway. Holly had tried to remain in the police vehicle, but she was physically dragged out and threatened with violence or worse if she did not start running right then.

So once she was able to successfully elude recapture, she then decided to remain free until her friend's true killer was identified and captured.

As I said, the movie was interesting enough to pass time watching, but it wasn't exactly realistic. However, I do not live in a 'big city', and I have as little as possible to do with city cops.

Anyway, when my younger brother failed to arrive home by 9:30 p.m. from his daily 'socializing', I turned the T.V. off and went upstairs to my bedroom (and this computer) and passed time until finally getting to bed around 10 p.m. and soon after I heard my brother come into the house.

My cellphone alarm was set for 2:30 a.m. and an early five-mile walk here in north Surrey. Note that this is a minimum citation, for I almost always add some extra distance into my walks.

When my alarm sounded, I had earlier heard my wife come home late (we have separate but adjacent bedrooms), but by this time she was likely asleep. I readied myself, and by 2:44 a.m. I was already on the street and on my way.

My planned route was delineated by 92nd and 97th Avenues on two sides, and 132nd and 148th Streets on the other two sides. This Google Map indicates what ought to have been the centre of that route ─ that is, the 9450 block of 140th Street.

Early into my walk I stopped at an elementary school playground to perform four sets of pull-ups on the gymnastics-style rings that are a feature there. Early this past Sunday morning I had finally managed to achieve six pull-ups; so as I feared would be the case with me, that now became my new targeted norm.

Fortunately, even though it required considerable effort, knowing that I had already achieved that number of repetitions seemed to make it less formidable to be matching it once more.

I succeeded, and then managed two pull-ups in all three of the succeeding sets.

Early this year I was so weak that I could not even pull my feet off the ground.

Know that this morning dressed as I was, I weighed into the low 190-pound range at a height of not quite five feet and 11 inches; and I am 72 years old.

I next had a cheque to deposit ─ the monthly expenses reconciliation my brother had written out to me a week ago. This was not something that I was too keen about, for in the wee hours there tend to be people who hang about that area that is neighbouring the King George SkyTrain Station (Google Map). My actual destination was the Coast Capital Savings building indicated on this Google Map.

As ill luck would have it, the ATM I meant to use did have someone loitering quite nearby. However, there is another ATM that is almost 'kitty-corner' on the same huge building complex, so I made my deposit there of well over $300.

At this point I was at the 9900 block ─ in other words, two blocks beyond 97th Avenue. By travelling to and then back from the 9900 block, I was adding a half mile to my five-mile walk.

Later in my walk I was intent on trying something new ─ some trail-walking that would be impossible without a flashlight.

At the risk of being boring about this, if you refer to this Google Map, in the centre you will see some trails indicated that are within the Green Timbers Urban Forest Park. Also, if you locate 92nd Avenue from where it departs from 144th Street, you will see as you follow that avenue along that it terminates at a trail.

Of late I have simply used a flashlight to follow the trail through to the next leg of 92nd Avenue; but this time I wanted to make a right turn from that trail and 'climb up' the map, and then take the next two trails that each lead to the left. By zooming in on the map a little like this, you should see that the first trail is named King Creek Trail. The second trail was identified as Swordfern Trail; and then it led to Maple Trail.

Maple Trail emptied out into a large lot between Simon Cunningham Elementary School and North Surrey Learning Centre, neither area had I been to before.

King Creek Trail is a beautiful large trail; Swordfern Trail and Maple Trail are instead labelled as being both narrow and rugged. That was very true. As I said, a flashlight was indispensable. The trails are not straight ─ they constantly twist and turn. And it is utterly black without artificial illumination ─ the trails would be impossible to detect.

I will not take that route at night again ─ it was a one-off. In the near future, though, I am keen on following the excellent King Creek Trail because it runs all the way to the paved Green Timbers Greenway ─ and past there becomes Cascara Trail, and leads to the intersection of Fraser Highway & 96th Avenue (Google Map).

I was back home a very few minutes past 5 a.m., but I remained outside for a half hour to water garden plants in our front yard. It was after 6 a.m. before I returned to bed, and I remained there until just after 9 a.m. before rising to join my brother who was downstairs watching T.V.

When he soon invited me to put our Android TV Box into action, I led things off with the 1¼-hour (1:19:31) upload by Christopher James (A Warrior Calls) to Rumble either yesterday or very early today: The Worm Is Turning. He had Marcus Ray on briefly to update concerning a convoy of sorts that is happening that is ultimately supposed to resolve into what could be a monumental event on September 11. But you will have to watch the video for yourself.

Next I tuned in a 25-minute Hibbeler Production documentary on BitChute: One Shot at Redemption. You can find various sources for the documentary ─ provided this search link remains valid, just pick one of the sources.

Why do you think we live on a spinning globe? This video will hurt your programmed beliefs. Beware.

Entertaining.

We finished our morning viewing with Tanya Gaw's Action4Canada August 4 upload to Rumble ─ the video exceeded two hours (2:09:27): International and Domestic Travel, Cross Border, Mobility Rights & Live Q&A.

Remo Gaita joins Tanya to discuss travel: cross border; International; and domestic; as well as Action4Canada’s newest Notice of Liability related to mobility rights. Expect a very informative and helpful session, practical tips, and what to expect when returning to Canada.

Remo describes himself as just a regular Canadian but one that has taken the time to become very well-informed, well researched and well-educated on his God-given inalienable rights. When dealing with Border Services Officers, the RCMP or health officials, he is not afraid of anyone because he knows he hasn’t committed a crime.

This was of great interest to my brother and I. We are going to have to 'bone up' on just what are rights in this country are.

My brother sought some bed rest following this video; I had a light meal and then returned to my bed for a nap. My brother was gone for the day when I later rose shortly after 3 p.m.

I wanted to do some sunning, and because it was 3:20 p.m. when I began, I felt that it was too late to be getting in a full session for both my front and back. Yet even though I only focused on my front, I ended up putting in a full hour. However, at times there was a little cloud obstruction, so things were not intense throughout.

And that brings me ─ more or less ─ to the present. It is after 7:45 p.m., so I am bringing today's post to a close here.
