Perhaps I am misremembering, but I believe that I was to bed last evening by 9:10 p.m. ─ certainly by 9:15 p.m. My cellphone alarm was set for 1:30 a.m. to get me up to ready for a five-mile+ walk.
And for the third consecutive night, I did not require the alarm. I found myself awake very soon after 1 a.m., and then quickly developed an urgent need to pee. However, the hallway light just outside my bedroom door was on, and I would be visible from where my brother sits to watch T.V. in the living room downstairs, and I could tell that the T.V. was still running ─ he had not yet retired for the night.
I cautiously peeked forth and discovered that his chair was vacant at that point, so I scurried to the bathroom.
Upon completion, I checked again and saw that he was returned to his chair, but it was only a few steps to my bedroom door and I managed it unnoticed.
My wife's bedroom door was closed tight, so I knew that she had come home following her half day working at the Thai restaurant where she has part-time employment.
I believe that I did return to bed for some deep rest for several minutes more, and then rose to begin my readying.
Supposedly the temperature hereabouts was 9.5° Celsius (49.1° F.), according to an online look I made. This made me decide to wear my heavy denim jacket. Fully clothed, I weighed 189 pounds with it on, and 186 pounds with it off.
This was information I like to have for when I endeavour some pull-ups and chin-ups at an elementary school playground early into my walk.
With my brother downstairs, my progress readying was somewhat impaired, for I do not like having anyone privy to my goings and comings afoot.
When at last I was resolved to have to leave with him still downstairs instead of having gone to bed, I noticed just as I was about to descend the stairs that his head was drooped ─ he had passed out. This allowed me to quietly descend the stairs and then attain the front door, unlock it, and then open the noisy thing and close it after me before locking it again.
He may have heard me and roused, but he would lack the interest or motivation to force himself to rise and investigate. For all he knew, it was one of my two stepsons or even my wife ─ if he was even conscious.
Outside at exactly 2 a.m., I saw the sky to seemingly be completely overcast, but all was dry. I had brought my blue light-blocking glasses just in case conditions were favourable, but as yet I did not put them on.
The school is maybe three blocks ─ four at most ─ from here; but strangely, by the time I arrived there, the overcast sky had vastly opened up and I had a mostly full moon basically in back of me, allowing for shadows.
I had to wipe condensation off the jungle gym / monkey bar I would be exercising with, allowing me to use my bare hands. But it was sufficiently cool out that I did not feel I wanted to shuck my jacket, so I kept it on.
I performed poorly. Without any explanation, my set repetition totals were three; then five sets of two repetitions apiece; and a top up of a single repetition each in two final sets with the very last (a chin-up) held at peak elevation for a 15-count.
And then the usual 10 slow full-range push-ups in a declined position on a cement ramp.
I only recall two occurrences in my walk worth mentioning.
The first was a short distance after crossing 140th Street as I walked the 'lower' side of 100th Avenue (Google Map) ─ for the next mile, that side of the Avenue would be nothing but Green Timbers Urban Forest.
As I walked, I could hear a male voice speaking quite softly in the dark forest; and after I had progressed from being abreast of the voice, it called out, "Hey bud! Do you happen to have a smoke on you?"
I don't smoke, so I replied that response with my apology while not breaking stride.
The male voice sort of laughed with acknowledgement.
I suppose he was likely on the trail that you can see on that Google Map, but why? I am unsure it can be followed at all easily without a light. There is also the possibility that the chap may have just camped in the woods for the night; but again, there was no light or campfire that I could see.
The next occurrence was after I had reached 148th Street on that same avenue, and was turning right onto 148th (Google Map) ─ just a short ways ahead on the non-forested side of the street I saw a dark form that was just removed from the sidewalk and basically at its curb with the street.
My hunch that it was a coyote proved correct, for it espied me and smartly trotted across 148th Street and into the forest.
Had there been something by the sidewalk that it was checking out?
I recently saw a blackish cat with a white chest politely sitting in that general area on the grounds next to the sidewalk ─ it was evidently just watching the uncommon passage of any street traffic, for there is really naught else to see. So I hope that the coyote had not happened upon that or some similar cat that it had dispatched, and which it was securing at the street edge before my advent caused it to vacate into the forest.
There are rabbits aplenty around the edge of the forest ─ I regularly have an occasional bunny scurry from the edge of the sidewalk into the brush at my approach. Why they do not remove themselves long before I am anywhere near them is something of a mystery, but they do not. They wait until I am practically beside them.
If they do similarly when a coyote is coming near, then the canid's latest meal would probably be at hand!
I just hope that some cat accustomed to people's smallish dogs would not equate an approaching coyote as being of no more of a threat.
Anyway, I made good time and was back home outside the locked front door at exactly 4 a.m.
And I expect that I was back to bed less than 1½ hours later.
My morning was to begin around 8:15 a.m. when I rose, just a short while before my brother emerged from his bedroom.
Very soon after 9 a.m., upon his invitation I put our Android TV Box to work and we watched yesterday's hour-long (1:03:21) addition to Rumble's A Warrior Calls channel: Extermination Mankind Awakes.
As usual, there was no video description, so I won't be wasting my own time trying to come up with one.
Then I tuned in Odessa Orlewicz's short (17:43) effort from yesterday: UNDRIP Drips Forward In Canada. New Info On The UN Land Grab.
Having trouble hanging onto the home you bought in Canada? UNDRIP in BC is moving forward in transferring more of your money to the First Nations through even MORE taxation.
The third video was far too long for the time my brother had left ─ he actually left for the day at 11:40 a.m. or soon thereafter; consequently we will likely finish watching it tomorrow.
My wife was up by that time, and had been for some while. I had some of her cooking for my first meal of the day, and then sought my usual early afternoon nap.
She was to leave us a little later ─ maybe as early as 2:30 p.m., and I am expecting her to be away for the weekend.
The afternoon was sunny, but I remained holed up in here.
Since I had a Sabbath fast scheduled, I decided to tune in a Christmas movie earlier than usual (6 p.m.) so that I could enjoy two cans of strong (8% alcohol) malt before doing my best to finish a supper before dark. And then, because this was a bath day, I took care of that.
It is already after 9 p.m., and I intend to rise at 1:30 a.m. for another five-mile+ walk, so I must bring this post to a close ─ I need to soon get myself to bed.
I will report on the Christmas movie tomorrow, provided all goes well and I am back here blogging.
