My bedtime last evening was probably at least 9:30 p.m.; and even though I had earlier felt tired, it was difficult to relax into any sleep. Perhaps I was a little agitated because I had meant to get to bed a half hour earlier.
It was no help that an excess of fluid ─ a can of strong (8% alcohol) malt, along with other liquids associated with my supper ─ beset me with the need to twice urinate. In fact, the second time followed on the heels of the first so wretchedly closely that I still had not fallen asleep. And I was so irritated that I stubbornly refused to risk being detected a second time by whomever was then home that I opted to use an empty yogourt container I have here in my bedroom and save myself the wakeful adventure of another trip to the bathroom and back.
Of course my cellphone alarm was set for 1:30 a.m. to get me up for a five-mile+ walk; yet it seems to me that once again, I never required it. Despite everything, a point arrived following some sleep that I was sufficiently alert to be curious on the time ─ it was something like 1:28 a.m.
So I rose and cancelled the alarm.
I noticed that my youngest stepson was still up downstairs, but he obligingly seemed to retire within a handful of minutes ─ i.e., no more than five, I would venture.
I could ready in peace.
An online check yielded the temperature claim that it was 13.9° Celsius (57.02° F.) hereabouts, so there was no question that I would be wearing my light denim jacket for the walk. However, fully clothed in it, I weighed just a sliver beneath the 190-pound mark.
I had decided that I would be depositing my younger brother's monthly expenses reconciliation cheque ─ something well over $300, and maybe even in excess of $350 ─ so this was going to alter my usual walk routine.
And I would be wearing the inferior no-name hiking boots that I had bought from AliExpress back in August ─ this would be my sixth or so outing in them. I therefore had plenty of doubt that I would be making good time on this occasion.
It was 1:57 a.m. once I was on my way. All was dry, and temperatures were definitely mild. Oddly I cannot recall the condition of the sky ─ whether there was much or any cloud, nor a bright moon.
Anyway, at the elementary school playground three or so blocks from here, I decided to tackle the six sets of pull-ups and chin-ups without my jacket, which would lighten my overall weight by about two pounds ─ so maybe barely under 188 pounds. I would be exercising bare-handed, so I was going to have a far better grip than when I have to use gloves.
And danged if I did not match my recent maximums in the six sets (with a 30-count between them): five and then three pull-ups in the first two sets; three chin-ups in the middle two sets; and three and then two pull-ups between a pair of gymnastics-style rings in the final two sets, holding the very last pull-up at peak elevation for a 15-count.
This was extremely pleasing, for I thought that this level of performance was not to be seen again until the warmer weather next year.
Of course, I topped off the exercising with 10 slow full-range push-ups in a declined position on a cement ramp.
When I resumed my trek, I still had not decided on my route. I wanted to make the deposit of the cheque early into the walk, but I was concerned about my wife's activities ─ what if she was out somewhere, as at the casino she is addicted to? I did not want the money available to her pillaging.
Yet to get to the ATM on the return leg of my walk would necessitate adding at least a couple of blocks to my walk, and my inferior hiking boots would already be reducing my pace as was ─ I didn't want the walk to be taking too excessively long.
I finally settled upon a complete reversal of my walk ─ I would be more or less following the usual route, but in reverse. I expected this to be an unpleasant experience, but to my delight it was almost like walking somewhere new. Seeing everything that had become almost boringly familiar ─ but now in total reverse ─ was absolutely refreshing. And due to this seeming newness, the sections seemed to get walked quicker than I am used to.
It was like I had new scenery ─ it was all quite amazing.
I was able to visit the ATM ─ which is approximately a mile from home ─ on my return without adding any unwanted distance.
I did still make poor time, however. I now forget exactly when I got back home, but it was anywhere from 4:03 to 4:06 a.m. Now, that is not exactly atrocious; but I do like to try and keep the outing trimmed to an hour ─ less, if at all possible.
It may have been a bit past 5:30 a.m. before I got back to bed. I think it in fact was after 5:30 a.m.
I never checked the time thereafter until it was 9 a.m. ─ usually I am already downstairs to join my younger brother for some T.V.
I hustled, and it was probably around 9:15 a.m. that he invited me to put our Android TV Box to work.
I led us off with some relatively short ─ five, I think ─ videos from YouTube's Redacted channel.
- "We don't give a SH*T about Ukraine" admits U.S. State Department in new documents | Redacted News (23:18)
- EXPOSED! Feds CAUGHT trafficking kids at U.S. border in huge operation | Redacted w Clayton Morris (21:10)
- "Ukrainian soldiers are being DRUGGED and forced to fight" Ex-CIA Larry Johnson | Redacted News (18:11)
- "This could change EVERYTHING we know about the 9/11 attacks" | Redacted with Clayton Morris (14:40)
- WARNING something BIG is happening in Ukraine, Putin stays quiet | Redacted with Clayton Morris (6:34)
Then it was over to Rumble's ProgressiveTruthSeekers channel for two fairly short videos. The first started to repeat a segment from (I believe) the third video above, so I cancelled out of it at that point.
The final video we got into was a movie that I previously recorded, but we broke off from it once it entered the noon hour, so I will report on it when we have completed watching it.
My brother had some bed rest after that. I had my day's first meal, and was into bed for my early afternoon nap when he forsook his bedroom and left for the day to socialize.
The day has been sunny, by the way.
I want to do something a little different this evening ─ get out on a hike to the government liquor store that is about two miles from here. I would have to make a withdrawal from the ATM I visited this morning. The purpose is to buy my brother's main Christmas present early ─ a 1.75-litre bottle of Irish whiskey (Proper No. Twelve) on sale for $73.99 (regularly $81.99).
I will likely also buy a half dozen cans of the malt I drink.
The liquor store closes at 9 p.m., so I cannot dally here much longer ─ it is already approaching 7 p.m. Making the trip will free me up from having to get up overnight for one of my walks.
Last evening while enjoying the can of malt I mentioned, I watched an episode of Chesapeake Shores ─ season five's episode seven ("What's New?"). I would like to get into a can of malt before that hike and maybe watch another show, but there will not be easy opportunities for any 'pee stops' on this walk, so I fear that I am going to have to abstain from any drinking until I am back home.
That being so, it is best that I also avoid watching any T.V. ─ I do not really have the time.
