Perhaps in yesterday's post I may have written when I was getting to bed that latter evening, but I do not remember the time now. I did fare comfortably well for a few hours, sleeping rather nicely, but at some point I did find sleep no longer achievable. Nevertheless, I resisted ever checking the time, and then finally my 4 a.m. cellphone alarm sounded.
Note that my wife did follow up on a text I had earlier sent her ─ and she did so at 10:06 p.m. Now as I recall, that was very soon after I had gotten to bed. She merely asked if I was okay, so I responded that I was (she was referring to how much sleeping I was doing).
Then just as I was deeply relaxing towards sleep, she texted again just to say "Ok" ─ the arrival signal of that text was infuriating.
Anyway, I rose at 4 a.m. and wasted no time getting downstairs to boil water for an instant coffee based around two heaping teaspoons, and with the works. I still felt utterly drained from the withdrawal of not having had any caffeine since at least as far back as around mid-afternoon on Friday ─ actually, it might have been in the latter morning.
My plan for the morning today was to make the round trip 5.625-mile hike to get a very few items at Real Canadian Superstore. It was 6 a.m. exactly when I left, so at the elementary school playground three or four blocks away, I only stopped for three sets of pull-ups and chin-ups.
Everything was drenched from recent rain, but I never experienced any until I was maybe half way home; and it was such a very fine rain that it was barely getting me wet.
I am sure going to miss the morning gloom that greets me when I leave that distant store. Heck, come June it's going to be bright daytime before I even leave home, and I honestly hate that!
I never even spent $8 at the store ─ they had no litres of the whipping cream I was after. And so this evening I plan on another hike ─ five-miles+ ─ that will see me stop at Save-On-Foods during the return leg of my walk, for the store is only a mile or so from here.
It is raining, but it does not sound to be hard as yet. I hope that holds for my outing.
I was not to manage a nap after my morning hike, despite trying. I did relax deeply though. And it looked like I might get to the T.V. ahead of my younger brother as 10 p.m. approached, for he had not yet emerged from his bedroom.
But just as I was about to head on downstairs, he came forth from his bedroom.
Fortunately, he was quite quick to turn the T.V. over to me to tune something in via our Android TV Box.
My choice was to be a two-hour (2:12:37) upload just today to YouTube's KIM OANH Handmade channel: Tucker Carlson 1/28/24 | Tucker Carlson Tonight January 28, 2024.
Tucker and Jordan Peterson on stage in Calgary, Canada. Also: Tucker's discussion with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.
Alas, despite that description, I do not believe that even the first hour belonged to that Calgary venue, for the rest of the video was exclusively a hodgepodge of American content.
The video ran into the noon hour, so my brother was set for some bed rest.
I had a meal ... and then fell astray. I never did try for a nap.
Note that quite early in the afternoon ─ beginning at 1:33 p.m. ─ my wife texted me.
After an initial "Hi,how are you" to which I responded that I was back to normal, she then texted a teary emoji and this:
Can you transfer $200 to me plz
I do not possess $200, thanks to her constant bleeding of my resources. So I expounded upon that ─ heck, she knows I never got my monthly pension income as yet, and likely will not until tomorrow.
She finally just replied:
Ok
Just asking
This sort of thing truly gets me down. She's my albatross around my neck ─ or asp at my breast.
Whatever, I then carried on with the waste of both my self and my afternoon. My day's third mug of two heaping teaspoons of instant coffee seems to have kept me going.
Right now it is 5:48 p.m., so I am going to take a break, and maybe have a beer or a shot of rum while watching a show. Then I will do my best to get away on that walk ─ it will free me up to sit up late watching T.V. with my brother, and drinking further.
As it developed, I watched an episode of Prodigal Son ─ episode 16 ("The Job") of season one ─ while indulging in a Cariboo Malt and a shot of Kraken Black Spiced Rum.
And then ─ leaving my bedroom at 7:21 p.m. ─ I was on my way on that hike that pretty much culminated in some shopping ─ just under $20 worth. I was back approximately two hours later despite that stop.
My brother was home from his socializing and watching T.V. When I soon enough joined him, he was prompt in offering control of the T.V. to me, so I put our Android TV Box to use and tuned in an episode of A Touch of Frost ─ the premiere episode ("Appendix Man") of season or series six.
My brother proved irritatingly loquacious, so I had to curb responding to his lead-ins to best quell encouragement each time he attempted to initiate ruination of various scenes in the show by needless expounding upon something concerning a scene or two past ─ he can be most annoying in that fashion.
We were also to watch the premiere episode of a questionable BBC comedy called Catterick that I added to our watch list solely for the sake of Morwenna Banks. If not for her involvement, I likely would never have heard of the series nor cared to tune it in ... but it is thus far lacking.
Catterick is presently available on YouTube if you care to give it a shot ─ try it here on the Absolute Jokes channel
We tailed off with a few random YouTube videos via the SmartTube app that I have downloaded into our Android TV Box.
This brought us to something like 12:40 a.m., I suppose; but that is into the time frame of a new blog post, so I shall say no more ─ except that my walk was practically rain free, although it did seem to be trying to start raining.
