Getaway Gone

X (or Twitter): Candace Owen

Absolutely no exercise at all was had by me yesterday with everybody else home all day due to what was easily a foot of snow that fell. My younger brother shovelled at least a longitudinal half of our long driveway in the afternoon ─ the half in front of his parking spot in the open-sided two-car carport.

I went out early in the evening to attempt to complete the remainder, but eventually my youngest stepson came forth to take over; and later, his older brother joined him.

This freed me up to watch T.V. with my brother, for he soon turned it over to me so that I could put our Android TV Box into action.

We were to watch quite a lot, beginning with an episode of The Graham Norton Show ─ episode 13 of season or series 31. It was a hoot ─ comedic actor Kevin Hart's antics with beautiful actress Sofia Vergara were almost priceless. She can quip with the best!

After that, we watched the January 1964 Edgar Wallace Mysteries episode Downfall. I must here say that lead actress Nadja Regin had remarkably unusual and attractive features ─ she was easily a seductress.

The IMDb one-sentence description of the movie that her character ─ the young wife of an older judge ─ was "a scheming young wife" for whom the judge was "no match" is false. True, she was quite unfaithful, but their marriage was obviously done. In fact, she wanted a divorce. He knew she was unfaithful, and he had his own eyes on an attractive younger barrister.

Nadja's character did not have any specific plan of treachery, apart from her romantic involvements. The finale of the short movie was entirely the incompetence of the judge, and had nothing to do with any scheming of his wife to get rid of him. There was no such scheming. She just took advantage of the debacle that he caused in that climax when he screwed up his own scheme of having her murdered.

I see that the beautiful actress died nearly five years ago at the age of 87. I may try to find other films that she acted in.

I tuned the movie in via this link at OK.ru, if you are interested.

My next selection to watch was an episode of A Touch of Frost ─ this time, the fourth episode of season or series five ("No Other Love"). My brother surprised me by seeming to have been touched at the conclusion by the death of likeable young character D.C. Barnard.

An episode of The Avengers was next ─ season or series two's episode nine ("The Sell-Out").

The last show we watched was an episode of Big Little Lies ─ episode four ("She Knows") of season two.

Thereafter I just used the SmartTube app to randomly play some YouTube videos.

I think that my brother may have called it a night by 1:30 a.m. If so, perhaps I was to bed by 2 a.m. Whatever the case, I had drunk three cans of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol) over the course of our viewing ─ that is actually a light total.

Alas, by 6 a.m. I was so awake ─ perhaps primarily due to caked nasal passages due to my upper respiratory infection ─ that I rose to clear my breathing and also use the bathroom. I may have remained up for as much as 1½ hours.

When I returned to bed, I anticipated trouble falling back into sleep, so I assumed what is often the most productive sleeping position ─ I essentially lay on my belly. I had my head turned to the left ... and darned if I not only fell asleep, but I remained there until around 10 a.m., to my considerable surprise.

I expect that my brother had been up and watching T.V. for some while.

After I joined him and got invited to "put on something interesting", I put our Android TV Box back to work and tuned in a 46-minute (46:47) documentary uploaded January 8 to YouTube's Keean Bexte channel: Starvation Policy.

The collapse of Mark Rutte’s government in July 2023 shocked many but surprised few who were paying attention. The Counter Signal’s new documentary dives deep into the real story: How the Dutch farmers’ protests became the tipping point of a crumbling administration, and global attack on the food supply. We go beyond the mainstream narrative to expose the facts Trudeau, Schwab, and Rutte don’t want you to know.

Also worth mentioning was a 24-minute (24:48) interview uploaded yesterday to YouTube's MMA Junkie channel: Sean Strickland Goes OFF on Reporter Questioning Past LGBTQ Comments: 'Go F*ck Yourself' | UFC 297.

UFC 297 headliner Sean Strickland spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters at media day for his middleweight title defense vs. Dricus Du Plessis on Saturday in Toronto.

I also tuned in an episode of the T.V. series Barry ─ this time, season four's episode two ("bestest place on the earth") ─ before reverting back to SmartTube and a little random YouTube fare before my brother returned to his bedroom for some further rest.

I felt unusually awake. Perhaps if my wife had not been home and scheduled to work this afternoon (beginning at 4:30 p.m.), I might have done differently, but I remained up. My wife was to leave around 2 p.m., I suppose; I honestly forget whether my brother left for the day first, or if she did.

She said nothing to me in leaving, although she probably did let one or both of her sons know (if both were home). I was upstairs here at my bedside computer.

It was not until both she and my brother had gone that I lapsed into some anxiety that has remained with me as I type these words at 4:15 p.m. The source is financial worry.

One nagging concern is that my wife was supposed to have made both her fourth and fifth payments this month of something like $810 to a lawyer firm who are collecting on behalf of a credit debt my wife attempted to shirk and ignore.

She failed to make a payment last month, so they wanted two payments this month.

She had said to me late last week as she was leaving for work that she would pay $500 at a bank, and then let me know so that I could send an E-mail of explanation to her contact at the lawyer firm.

Well, my wife never paid anything as far as I know (we do not much communicate, even when she is home). And early two days ago, the lawyer firm contact sent my wife an enquiry that I doubt my wife bothered to read.

I told her she had the message, but even I only had the nerve to read it today. I cannot respond ─ I have no idea what my wife intends. Why didn't she make the $500 payment?

I have other financial woes ─ mostly because my wife has leeched $650 from me since I received my monthly pension last month. I cannot afford a $650 loss like that, but it is almost impossible for me to turn my back on her.

Sometimes I wish that I could move away and cancel my cellphone just so that I can be out of her reach.

I am going to take a break now ─ I may watch a Christmas movie and get in some drinking to numb this wretched unease. I am even considering to try my hand at having a walk early this evening.

I see that it has begun to snow again.

oooooooooooooo

At present it is 7:02 p.m., and my brother has been home since just ahead of 6:30 p.m.

Fortunately, I had already finished watching the absolutely wonderful 2017 Christmas movie Christmas Getaway, during which I barely held myself to one can of Cariboo Malt and a shot of Kraken Black Spiced Rum (47% alcohol).

The movie was to hit me quite deeply, and eradicated my earlier depression. Also, my wife texted me during it to send me proof that she had made a $810 payment that I could E-mail our contact about at the lawyer firm.

As for the movie, I was pleased that strikingly beautiful Bridget Regan starred. I love her in romantic movies like this, despite despising her in her role as a heartless criminal defendant lawyer in the T.V. series The Rookie.

Should you care to test the movie online, a current excellent source is here at UpMovies.to.

After the wonderfully emotional and satisfying movie, I was able to send off that $810 payment confirmation, and I included an expoundation of why they should not likely be expecting a second payment this month. Hell, my wife only Netted $663.90 in pay during the last half of December!

Anyway, my intended walk is off, and I am already half cut from what I drank during the Christmas movie. Maybe some supper will restore me a little.

I will watch some T.V. with my brother, and hope that he has the sense to want to get to bed by maybe midnight. However, if I find that he starts passing in and out, then I will myself terminate T.V. with him for the night. He can entertain himself with whatever feeble fare he can locate through our T.V.'s basic cable package, for he has no idea how to operate our Android TV Box ─ that is my sphere alone.
