Freeze

My wife seemed to get up from her evening nap yesterday just as I was climbing into my bed so that I could rise at 1:30 a.m. to begin readying for a five-mile+ walk.

When I rose, it was to a house in darkness.

My weight ─ sans my sleeveless black denim jacket ─ just ahead of leaving was 183 pounds at the very most; and it was 2:15 a.m. once I was outside and set to be on my way.

My exercise stop at the elementary school playground three or so blocks from here was my latest usual in repetitions for the half dozen sets of pull-ups and chin-ups: 7-2-3-3-2-2. And I held the very final pull-up on a pair of gymnastics-style rings for a 30-count.

Then I performed a set of a dozen slow, full-range decline push-ups on a cement ramp.

There had been some guy with a bicycle in the front of the school when I first arrived, but he never ventured around to where I was. I think he was gone when I left the school.

There was only one incident of note relating to my walk, and it took place when I was about ¾ of a mile from home on my return.

I was walking Fraser Highway and approaching King George Boulevard (Google Map) when I noticed that someone was loitering at the King George right-turn lane that curves at a corner of the Grace Community Church property.

It was too late for me to avoid the coincidence.

The person turned out to be a woman with a bag of her things that she had placed atop a concrete retainer wall, and she was basically leaning against it with a long, pouty face.

I had a red light and could not proceed, so she took advantage and engaged me by asking if I had a light for her cigarette.

And then she drew me into her woes ─ man troubles, of course. The gist was that she was not being appreciated as an equal, but was treated instead with disrespect.

In feeble effort to be consoling, a couple of times I softly patted a shoulder and tried to say something sympathetic.

I got the impression that she may have been drinking earlier.

She was not in good shape, standing in rather lop-sided fashion as if her spine was scoliotic, leaving one shoulder jutting much higher than the other.

She could have been in her 40s, but I suppose that she may have only been in her 30s if she was not living well.

She was shorter than I; and a couple of times she leaned in so near to me that I was certain she was inviting a snuggling embrace.

Perhaps when nothing much occurred between us, and I really did not have much that I felt myself able to offer by way of words, she made as if she had held me up long enough; and then just as I was about to continue on my way, she asked if I had the time.

At that point I noticed that a cop cruiser had pulled up to the red light in the lane right next to us. I dug out my cellphone from the inside pocket of my sleeveless denim jacket, and lighting up the screen with its time display of 4:01 a.m., I extended it to her.

She expressed a bit of an oath at the lateness.

Whether the cop wondered if some solicitation was taking place, I suppose that in witnessing me extend the cellphone screen to her, it must have been clear that nothing untoward worth bothering about was taking place.

And I came on home.

A half block or so away after I was on my way from the encounter, I looked back and saw that she seemed to be involved with someone else who must have come walking along the King George.

Anyway, I was back home by 4:19 a.m., and remained outside a while to water garden plants in the front yard.

It was approaching 6 a.m. by the time I eventually returned to bed. And then it was nigh 8:30 a.m. when later I roused and rose for the morning. My younger brother was already downstairs watching T.V.

We were not to get around to watching videos via our Android TV Box until 9:30 a.m., and I led us off with the most recent four at Rumble's AKStraightSpeaks channel:

All lies will be revealed! Legacy Media you can't do what you did and then turn the other cheek.

I did this video a year ago but we're still in the same bloody boat!

Do I know you? Trump's VP pick comes out from under the radar.

The first lady releases a classy statement after Trump's assassination attempt July 13, 2024.

Unexpectedly, there was a fifth video available for viewing, so we also watched it:

Attempted assassination of Trump, who's behind it?

Then I stupidly tuned in what I believed was a recent 'Flat Earth' documentary, but I realize now after doing a search that my brother and I wasted 1⅓ hours re-watching something we apparently watched back on May 23, 2022 ─ I won't bother mentioning that to him, but it sure is bloody annoying. I should have researched it beforehand!

I'm not going to identify it ─ I did the first time, and that was sufficient.

It was approaching 12:15 p.m. when my brother sought some bed rest before heading off this very hot, sunny day to socialize. I had a small meal, but was still here at my computer when he emerged from his bedroom to leave.

I intended some sunning, but I napped first.

I think that it was 2:38 p.m. when I commenced an hour and 22 minutes out in the backyard maintaining my Summer colouring and attempting much fly swatting.

At present it is nearly 7:40 p.m., and I have just finished a can each of Bumper Crop Crisp Apple Cider (7% alcohol) and Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol) while enjoying Batwoman ─ episode three ("Freeze") of season three.

I watched it here on my bedside computer because the westward-facing living room makes it impossible to watch the T.V. located there ─ even with the white vertical blinds drawn, the brilliance of the sunlight washes out the T.V. screen.

I had never heard of the website before, but my source was this link at GOOJARA.to that worked flawlessly.

The plan is to be sitting up late this evening watching at least one show with my brother, but first I must put in an evening walk, so it will have to be after we are both home again.

My wife had a full workday today, so she left us possibly as early as 10:10 a.m.

I expect that I will likely be drinking a can or two of something once I am out on my walk; and if so, I will also be drinking a little more while watching T.V. with my brother.

Tomorrow morning ought to be rather rough to get through.
