"Offense"

My overnight alarm was set for 1:45 a.m. when I retired last evening, for I think that it had exceeded 9:45 p.m. by my bedtime.

I felt reasonably hale when my alarm chimed and I hustled up from bed.

The house was in darkness, and I saw that my wife had come home at some point following her full day of work at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time.

I chose to wear my lightest of three denim jackets, and likely weighed about 185 pounds fully clothed and with it on.

It was 2:27 a.m. once I was outside and set to go under a primarily clear sky, finding it remarkably cool for this time of the year.

We live in a cul-de-sac with pedestrian access to a main avenue. Unfortunately, once I was to that main artery that happens to be near to an intersection, I was to meet with such a bewildering amount of vehicular traffic over the next two blocks that my mood was foul throughout, and sometimes I raged aloud.

I walk when I do because there is no peace nor calm from other people and the thronging street traffic in the daytime, so to have those same vehicles so unexpectedly inconveniencing me and congesting the way felt extremely personal ─ why can I not be free of this?!

Why does there seem to be a ceaseless flow of traffic at all hours anymore? I can remember being able to walk the same streets in the latter 1960s and be able to travel two blocks or more before a rare car might come along. Now, there is never an end to their headlights, let alone the oncoming distant sounds of as yet unseen vehicles.

I must somehow get away from Surrey while I am still able-bodied enough. This has not been ❝my❞ Surrey in far, far too many years. I do not belong here; I certainly do not intend to die here ─ it has already taken too much of my life.

Anyway, at the elementary school playground three or so blocks away, I opted to perform the six sets of pull-sup and chin-ups with my light jacket on, managing repetitions of 7-2-3-2-2-2.

The last pair of double repetitions were pull-ups on a pair of gymnastics-style rings, and I believe that I was able to hold the final pull-up for a 30-count before lowering myself.

And as usual, I finished up with a dozen slow, full-range decline push-us on a cement ramp.

I had decided to wear my unsuitable-for-hiking no-name AliExpress 'hikers'. To ensure I would not incur an onset of lower left leg and foot lameness, I did my best to walk in leisurely fashion. Nevertheless, after crossing that ¾-mile boundary on the approach towards home, the condition did begin to set in.

Possibly there was an unwitting increase in pace with home beckoning so near. At very most, I don't think that it was later than 4:35 a.m. once I was back.

And I was not to be back in bed until at least 6:17 a.m., having gotten involved in composing an E-mail that took unexpectedly long before I got down to the usual things I tend to once I am back home.

I was not to check the time again until a couple of minutes past 9 a.m., and fully expected that my younger brother was already watching T.V.

I discovered that he had yet to emerge from his bedroom, but I could hear him moving about, so I had to put a rush on to get priority to the T.V.

Alas, it was to be a tough morning in the search for interesting videos to watch on T.V. via our Android TV Box. I gave up on eight different video sources before finally locating a video that was both long and interesting.

My video choice had been streamed on June 25 to Rumble's Healthy & Awake Podcast channel: Health, Truth, & Spirituality w/ Dr. Stella Immanuel [Ep. 46] (1:12:36).

Join us for an insightful episode with Dr. Stella Immanuel, a Cameroonian-American physician and minister, who brings a unique blend of medical expertise and spiritual fervor to the forefront of health discussions. With a diverse background in general medicine and pediatrics, complemented by her leadership at Fire Power Ministries in Houston, Texas, Dr. Immanuel shares her experiences with early therapeutic approaches in a challenging health landscape, alongside the role of faith in her practice and advocacy.

During our conversation, we covered some of the most pressing topics around COVID-19 and the products introduced to address the crisis. I asked her about her more spiritual views, which she prominently discusses, and her perspectives on the interplay between science and personal belief. Dr. Immanuel's narrative is both compelling and controversial, offering a fresh perspective on holistic wellness in today’s world. She was a delightful person to talk to, and I think you're really going to enjoy that episode.

I certainly remember this heavily-African-accented woman stepping forth from the other frocked medical professionals to speak on what may have been the steps of the U.S. Capitol building ─ was that back in 2020?

I believe much as she does, although she does have a couple of religious beliefs that she espoused which I do not hold. But it is people like her that I lack in my personal life ─ I am socially isolated, and prey to recurring corruption because of that state.

I cannot go it alone ─ I have learned this over the years. But I am a prisoner of my lifestyle and debt ─ I am in a bondage that I cannot free myself from.

However, that is ─ as always ─ a topic for another day.

The video brought my brother and I to nearly noon, so he took his leave for some bed rest. As yet, the morning had been largely overcast, for it started clouding up as daylight approached.

My wife had another full workday today, so she rose after 9:30 a.m. and was away before 10:15 a.m. on her fairly long drive.

After my brother returned to his bedroom, I assumed leftovers clean-up duty rather begrudgingly, for I seem to be the only household member who will do so rather than food go to waste.

However, the 'slop' I filled my bowl with was heavily salted and spicy, and has left me feeling quite stomachically overwhelmed. This 'garbage duty' often does.

I had not yet sought a needed nap before my brother emerged from his bedroom and left for the day. And when I did, it was at least 2 p.m., and I may have been down until around 4 p.m., feeling not particularly rejuvenated at all.

And I discovered it to be completely sunny out. Had I felt better and realized it earlier, I could have sunned. The morning gave the impression that the day would be a write-off for such an activity.

I plan an evening walk, with some grocery shopping at Real Canadian Superstore ─ a 5.625-mile round trip hike. The store is open until 11 p.m., so to avoid as much of the evening daylight as possible, I will not leave here until after 9 p.m. By then, I hope to be feeling better than I do at the present in the late afternoon.

For the present, I am going to take a break and give my eyes a rest.

oooooooooooooo

Okay, I only rested briefly.

Anon I opted to watch Alicia Witt in an old episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent ─ specifically, episode eight ("Offense") of season seven.

The episode also had a featured guest appearance by Frasier's "Roz" actress, Peri Gilpin. This particular episode aired in 2007, whereas Frasier finished in 2004.

I always thought that "Roz" was pretty darned hot!

Anyway, if you are curious about this Law & Order: Criminal Intent episode, I watched it on my computer here at this M4uHD.net link.

I accompanied the very interesting episode with two cans of Bumper Crop Crisp Apple Cider (7% alcohol). It is now 8:10 p.m., so I truly must rest a bit before heading off on that hike.
