A Good German Horror Movie With an English Title

My 3:30 a.m. cellphone alarm did rouse me, but due to partial ear-clogging, it took four minutes before I was aware of the chiming.

As it has been for possibly a week at that time of night, it was anywhere from -1º to -4º Celsius outside. This time though, when I walked the three or so blocks to the elementary school playground to have some exercise there, I found the equipment too heavily frosted to use. It would not wipe off ─ only the warmth of my hands would have thawed the frost, and I had no interest in that nonsense.

And so I had no choice but to just walk back home, and hope that sometime around midday I would have the drive in me to use the backyard tool shed.

I was back home and here to my bedside computer just as my eldest stepson's alarm began sounding to rouse him to begin readying for his 12-hour work shift beginning at 6 a.m. His bed is downstairs and directly below my own, so I often hear him snoring; and on occasion in the past, even whimpering during what must be some bad dream.

I expect that I was back to bed something ahead of 6 a.m., remaining there till well past 8 a.m. My younger brother was to emerge from his bedroom not much later.

I waited until 9 a.m. before going downstairs to boil water for a mug of instant coffee, and then to join my brother for some T.V. And at his invitation to put our Android TV Box to work, I led us off with two of the most recent videos at YouTube's AnitaK channel.

At nine minutes (9:51), and uploaded two days ago: Chandra Arya told he can't run by Liberal Party. Ruby Dhalla in?

Nepean MP Chandra Arya says he's been informed by the Liberal Party of Canada he's not permitted to run in the leadership contest to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Will Ruby Dhalla take his place?

Ruby sounds sufficiently enticing, but I will NEVER vote for a Liberal for as long as I live. She needs to join the People's Party of Canada (PPC) ─ the 𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 🆃🆄🆁🅳(eau) has forever fouled and tainted the Liberal Party insofar as I am concerned.

And at 22 minutes (22:55), and uploaded yesterday: Gov't Orders 400 Ostriches to be destroyed on BC farm.

I can see how some people can be driven to take an armed last stand against the so-called authorities. Every single government employee involved in this deserves to be tried by a people's court and at the very least jailed ─ "I was only following orders" is the excuse of spineless cowards.

I followed those two videos with a 46-minute (46:17) video uploaded September 30, 2016, to YouTube's Real Stories channel: Forced Marriage Cops (Crime Documentary) | Real Stories.

A powerful film showing the true plight of victims forced into marriage. With unprecedented access to the Manchester Police Force, this documentary investigates the biggest cases of forced marriage in the UK. In June 2014 it became illegal for someone to force a person to get married, the problem is how difficult this is to police to track and investigate these cases.

There was to be one further YouTube video. At 18 minutes (18:48), it had been uploaded February 6, 2016, to the Proper Gander channel: Freemasonry and the Rosicrucian Order - Documentary (Francis Bacon and John Dee) - Secret Teachings.

This short documentary digs into the history of Freemasonry in the old world and the new, as well as the origins of the Rosicrucian Order.  Francis Bacon and John Dee are the main subject matter of this video.  Also includes a clip of modern Freemasonry, with a brief glimpse of rituals.

Freemasonry consists of fraternal organizations that trace their origins to the local fraternities of stonemasons, which from the end of the fourteenth century regulated the qualifications of stonemasons and their interaction with authorities and clients. The degrees of freemasonry retain the three grades of medieval craft guilds, those of Apprentice, Journeyman or fellow (now called Fellowcraft), and Master Mason. These are the degrees offered by Craft (or Blue Lodge) Freemasonry. Members of these organizations are known as Freemasons or Masons. There are additional degrees, which vary with locality and jurisdiction, and are usually administered by different bodies than the craft degrees.

Rosicrucianism is a philosophical secret society supposedly founded in late medieval Germany by Christian Rosenkreuz. It holds a doctrine or theology "built on esoteric truths of the ancient past", which, "concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe and the spiritual realm." Rosicrucianism is symbolized by the Rosy Cross or Rose Cross.

Early seventeenth-century occult philosophers such as Michael Maier, Robert Fludd and Thomas Vaughan interested themselves in the Rosicrucian world view. According to historian David Stevenson it was also influential to Freemasonry as it was emerging in Scotland. In later centuries, many esoteric societies have claimed to derive their doctrines, in whole or in part, from the original Rosicrucians. Several modern societies have been formed for the study of Rosicrucianism and allied subjects.

And we finished up with a 32-minute (32:45) video published December 6, 2020, to BitChute's bluedemon218 channel: Great Leap Forward REMASTERED (Only on Bitchute).

An extended Version with Archive Footage and with More Detail than the Original Video.

The 'Great Leap Forward' - an attempt to rapidly develop Communist China's agrarian economy between 1958 and 1961 - led to one of the most disastrous famines of all time. After reading AOC's Green New Deal I saw how it was very simimlar to the Great Leap Forward about a week later I Searched on Bing to see if anyone else noticed it as well and they did. What do you think?

This video took us to around 11:30 a.m., at which point my brother was set for some further bed rest before he drove off on one or more errands before returning to leave his van and then head away on foot for a bus so he could indulge his daily social drinking.

But when he resorted first to his bedroom, I seized the opportunity for some exercising out in the backyard tool shed. Nothing spectacular, though: three sets of pull-ups (4-2-2), three sets of chin-ups (2-2-2), and two sets of pull-ups between a pair of bars (2-2). I held a loose hang after the very final pull-up for a mere count of 35.

Then back in the house I squeezed out 13 slow full-range push-ups on the kitchen linoleum floor.

Both of my stepsons were away to work, so no one but my brother and I were home. My wife had a full workday scheduled, it would seem. She rose around 9:30 a.m. to begin readying for her day, and she left soon after 10 a.m. during the video about Universal Ostrich Farms.

It has been another sunny day. I had my early afternoon nap, getting to bed just before my brother finished with his bed rest; and I was back up by the time he returned to leave his van here at home.

As the latter afternoon began fading, I decided to watch a movie on T.V. via the YouTube app downloaded into our Android TV Box. I really only wanted to get the movie out of the way because it was a foreign horror feature ─ my brother cannot read hardly any subtitles due to how badly his vision has deteriorated (possibly largely to do with his excessive daily drinking).

Nearly 1¾-hours (1:43:24), the black & white movie had been uploaded July 7, 2019, to YouTube's Movie Central channel: True Love Ways | 2014 Horror Thriller | Anna Hausburg.

After a recurring dream Séverine decides she needs to get away from her boyfriend Tom for a couple of days. Tom makes a deal with a man he meets at a bar: Séverine will be kidnapped. Tom rescues her from the clutches of the kidnappers, and will become her savior. However what Tom does not know is that his new made friend has a different plan with Séverine. Faced with violent criminals and her own primal fears, Séverine is pulled into a brutal game of unfulfilled desire and the search for true love.

Thankfully it was not huge on dialogue.

Oddly, IMDb lists True Love Ways at being an hour and 35 minutes in length.

Actress Anna Hausburg is naturally gorgeous, and those magnificently muscled legs of hers were unbelievably efficient at running. There is quite an extended scene where she is running barefoot through a darkened forest, and this girl was practically hurdling a couple of times over the sort of obstacles other heroines would have of course tripped over to allow the baddies to catch up to them.

And I have just discovered this piece of trivia at IMDb that would explain those magnificent legs:

She is an avid dancer; she does ballet, jazz and street dance.

Initially I had thought that I might only watch half or so of the movie, and finish it another day. But I got hooked!

I began strongly rooting for her character when she began fighting back against her abductors and found it within herself to begin definitively killing them instead of what so many doomed damsels do in similar situations ─ maybe knock a villain semi-unconscious and then seek to run away instead of finishing off the bastard, who then of course does just that to the damsel.

However, the movie finish proved most unsatisfying and effectively erased the admiration I had felt for the character. But I won't spoil it all by giving anything else away.

There was an unexplained scene where a crooked police detective seated in a chair just happens to be where our heroine is crawling across a floor ─ she looks askance at him when she realizes he is there. She's almost covered with dirt and blood by this time, and is apparently too crippled to walk unaided.

The cop has his handgun levelled at her, but then he lowers it.

Then the scene switches to the outside of the mansion serving as the scene of the crime, there is a gunshot in the house, and we next see Séverine burst through the doors, using a pair of crutches to ambulate as she seeks to make her escape.

Incidentally, I don't know why Séverine became crippled, unless it was because she may have dropped a hatchet onto one of her feet.

But what befell the cop? Did he kill himself? Or did someone else shoot him? There was no explanation. Séverine had been a little too distant from him to have defended herself.

I would very much enjoy seeing much more of Anna Hausburg, but she has hardly acted in anything English ─ it is too tedious having to read everything when there are shows filled with dialogue. I want to look at the characters ─ especially beautiful women! Otherwise, why not just read a book or something?

Following the movie, I had been nurturing the notion of undertaking the four-mile round trip hike to the nearest government liquor store to augment my beer supply, but I frittered away too much of my early evening following the movie. The liquor store closes at 9 p.m., so I would want to be leaving home comfortably ahead of 8 p.m. That was nearly possible, but then both of my stepsons who were home from work began rotationally occupying the bathroom, and I need it to spruce up for any public appearances.

I am going to have to rely on hitching a ride with my brother in the next day or two when he makes his own early afternoon drive to restock on beer.

As yet my monthly pension income has not appeared in my joint banking account, so I expect it likely that this will occur tomorrow ─ maybe even right after midnight tonight. If my wife has not come home before then, I am going to have to be vigilant about keeping track of the account, else my wife is liable to access the money for partying before I have a chance to transfer it out to my private account.

I think that's enough blogging for today, for it is 8:19 p.m. I shall be sitting up late tonight to watch a few shows with my brother once he is back home, and to have at least a couple cans of beer.
