The Darkest Minds

I had no sooner poured myself a glass of red wine last evening when my younger brother inexplicably showed up ─ it was around 8:20 p.m. The wine had been intended to enjoy while watching some T.V. as I awaited his homecoming, which I did not expect for at least another hour.

He managed to retain consciousness after we began watching some of the T.V. series that we follow in common, so I expanded the repertoire somewhat.

First off, I tuned in (via our Android TV Box) an episode of Riverdale, a T.V. series we will be watching for a long, long time since we are only into the second season.

Then I tuned in the 2018 movie The Darkest Minds using the Syncler app. My brother seemed to enjoy the movie well enough, and I definitely did.

Quite early into the movie, a supporting actress was very familiar to me, but I just could not place why. I see now that it was Mandy Moore, whom I am familiar with as the mother from the T.V. series This Is Us. I thought her to be exceptionally beautiful in the mother's early married years. I knew nothing about the actress as a singer, and have no recollection of ever hearing her on a radio station.

But back to The Darkest Mind, the main character of which was played (as a teen) by actress Amadla Stendberg, whom I thought was also quite beautiful ─ close-ups of her face were striking. I see now that I have evidently seen her before in the T.V. series Sleepy Hollow, but I have no memory of her character. And although I saw the movie The Hunger Games, I don't remember her role there, either.

No matter ─ I was just about all set to become a new fan of the actress ... and then I checked out her Wikipedia biography. It disgusted me so much that I shut it right down ─ I cannot brook those weirdos who claim to be neither female nor male, and insist on being referred to as "they".

Just because she may require psychological therapy does not make it necessary for me to be referring to her as "they". She was born female, and she still is ─ she is not some other blend or alternate version of the sexes.

Despite how much I enjoyed the movie, it reportedly failed to generate the sort of interest that would have encouraged a sequel.

Hey! I've just discovered that I am familiar with some of the work of actress Gwendoline Christie, who portrayed a bounty hunter in The Darkest Minds. I had wondered who the actress was, for she seemed to be on the tall side. And now I realize that she had a recurring role in the T.V. series Game of Thrones as a nearly indomitable female warrior of knightly stature; and before that, my brother and I knew of her in the T.V. series Top of the Lake: China Girl where she acted as a policewoman struggling with some lack of confidence due to her male peers constantly dismissing and undermining her, largely due to her height.

Anyway, once the movie concluded, I determined to play an episode of one further series: D.C.'s Legends of Tomorrow. This took us somewhat into the midnight hour and our bedtime.

I noticed that I had developed a wee bit of a deep cough and the catarrh that comes with it. I otherwise feel to be my normal self. Even my brother admits to the same nuisance. No doubt my two adult stepsons are at fault, for a month or so back the youngest was diagnosed with "COVID" (no one gets a cold any longer, do they?).

He had a horrible cough for the longest time, and of late may have something of a recurrence of the condition; and in the past week his older brother has begun coughing most pathetically and wickedly. I think that he may now be off work, just as the youngest lad had been for a time before him.

I ought to spend 15 minutes later today with my plug-in nebulizer and inhale some nebulized food grade hydrogen peroxide ─ that may wipe out any virus trying to gain a foothold within me.

On a somewhat related note, this morning my brother and I watched an hour and 12-minute video uploaded to Brand New Tube on April 30: Mark Crispin Miller | Session 102 Un(der)cover

Mark was being interviewed via ZOOM or some similar means by the two main members of the Corona Investigative Committee (namely, Reiner Fuellmich and Viviane Fischer). Mark specializes in the study of propaganda, so the two lawyers were keen on what he had to tell them.

I followed that with a 28-minute talk given by Dr. Nagase that he uploaded to Rumble on May 1: Salmon Arm BC. It was an interesting enough talk, but he's a lousy videographer ─ he recorded himself, probably with his cellphone, but failed to align the phone properly and the result was that we barely could see half of him because he was cut off at the left border of the video.

The final video we watched this morning was one of James Corbett's "Reports" which he uploaded to BitChute on April 27 ─ it was an hour and 19-minute effort titled The Global Pandemic Treaty: What You Need to Know.

I grew dreadfully sleepy during James Corbett's presentation, alas, and had to depart from it in order to round up my day's first meal or else I would not be able to muster any attention whatsoever for what I was watching.

I have to give full credits to guys like James ─ I could never struggle through the miserably dry online documentation that he ably negotiates in order to make the instructional videos that he has produced.

Okay, I have just finished taking a half hour or so break from this post and did get 15 minutes of nebulized hydrogen peroxide under my belt. My eldest stepson ─ who did not get up until the mid-afternoon ─ has been loudly and deeply hacking in the boys' den area (his younger brother went to work).

My early evening is underway, so I want to bring this post to a close. Nevertheless, I do wish to report that ─ fully naked and before having eaten anything today ─ I weighed myself in the latter morning and scaled in to at least 193 pounds.

That's a little excessive for this 72-year-old who is not quite five feet and 11 inches in height.

I hope to get in a very early a.m. walk overnight ─ five miles and maybe a little better ─ for which i would like to rise at 2:30 a.m., so if my brother is not home from his 'socializing' by 9:30 p.m., he will be spending the evening watching T.V. by himself. He doesn't understand how to use the Android TV Box, so if he can't handle what is available on the T.V.'s basic cable option, he can always check out Netflix by way of my youngest stepson's subscription.

Anyway, that's enough gab for today.
