Christmas Eve 2023

I fared remarkably well last evening, only drinking two further cans of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol) with my younger brother while I tuned in a couple of shows via our Android TV Box.

I led us off with an episode of Riverdale ─ episode nine ("Chapter Sixty-Six: Tangerine") of season four; and then one of The Outpost ─ episode nine ("The Vex Rezicon") of season one.

Although I cannot say so positively, I think that my brother called it a night during the latter midnight hour; and as usual, I took care of some things here at my computer before also getting to bed.

A point arrived in the deep night when I rose to get a drink of water and to have a pee to better facilitate relaxation into sleep, but it was for naught. I gave up and rose very soon after 6 a.m., remaining up for well over an hour.

I likely could have eventually found sleep, but at that time I could hear my brother moving about in his bedroom; and then he finally emerged and went downstairs, clearly also unable to sleep.

I lay some while longer, and then decided to rise and fix myself a mug of hot instant coffee (two teaspoons) with the works. My brother was involved with the Sunday morning edition of The Province that I subscribe to, but he soon enough finished it and then set to work clearing off the dining table for the meal he and his girlfriend Bev would be preparing this afternoon.

He said that he would be going to fetch her around noon.

I took my coffee upstairs here to my bedside computer where I finished it, and by then my brother was watching T.V., so I joined him.

Soon enough he offered to me to put our Android TV Box into action, so I tuned in an episode of My Family ─ episode six ("Driving Miss Crazy") of season or series two

Actress Daniela Denby-Ashe, who plays the daughter of the main series family (the Harpers), is certainly a cutie!

Next I tuned in a very long (2½ hours) documentary that we had to suspend with maybe 50 minutes remaining because my brother wanted to begin watching an NFL game that had been scheduled for 10 a.m., and it was around 10:20 a.m. by this point.

I will report on the documentary once we finish watching it.

I don't follow sports, so I came upstairs here to my computer and began working on first a post in my private blog, and now a post in this public blog. It is approaching noon, so my brother will undoubtedly be soon enough heading away for Bev.

I had earlier had a second mug of coffee, spiking that one with one of those alcoholic creamery liqueurs (17% alcohol), not really expecting that I would feel its effects, but darned if I do not indeed feel some!

I do not need to undertake a walk today, since I had two yesterday; but I would like to try to get away before my brother returns with Bev; I could then have some sort of decent walk in which I would buy some of those Christmas gift packs for the presents I wish to lay out tomorrow morning before anyone is up.

And so I am going to call a halt to this post, and will wrap up later.

oooooooooooooo

I was not to get away.

And it was to be a long day of drinking, and then the superb meal around 6:30 or 7 p.m. By that time not only was my wife home ─ and she even retired here for the night ─ but so was my eldest stepson's girlfriend, who seems to have remained here with him.

I have no met this lass before. She seems a dear, lovely young lady.

These five photos were taken around the time of our meal, all courtesy of my wife. My brother and Bev are in two, and I am in another.

I do not have the time to research the movies we watched. Maybe in a subsequent post over the very next few days.

I have had no exercise whatsoever today. I had plans for tomorrow, but I did not expect that my wife would be spending the night ─ that might well be enough to keep me home. Even though the boys and she gave forth their gifts, I did not. I am unsure of my brother.

The morrow will tell. But I am going to have to rise first to set out my gifts to the lads and my brother (and Bev). And already it is after 2 a.m.

I am having to publish this post pre-dated, unfortunately.

No, I do not know Taneth ─ how I wish I did!
