Last evening I had just about resolved to bid my wife a goodnight, but she had gone downstairs to the kitchen, and then I heard my younger brother coming into the house.
It was time to make myself scarce, so I shut myself up into my bedroom and was soon enough to bed, my cellphone alarm set for 1:30 a.m. to get me up for a five-mile+ walk.
I had the usual 'on and off' sleep, and was actually roused by my alarm's chime. I had to have a look at the time just to ensure that I had not been sleeping through the alarm before hearing it, but it read just 1:30 a.m.
No one else was up, happily ─ I would be able to ready for my walk in peace.
I did weigh myself when fully clothed and about to leave, not much liking the 188-pound reading I got. And I packed an umbrella.
Once outside and on my way, it was 2:10 a.m., and heavily spraying a fine rain. Of course everything was wet. However, I refrained from taking my umbrella to hand, and was to find that the spray lightened; and there were to be times when I was unsure if there was any rain whatsoever.
So I never did use it, although there were those times when the spray would have eventually wetted me seriously enough did it sustain.
For the second consecutive night, I dispensed with stopping at the nearby elementary school playground for any exercising.
I cannot recall anything of particular note concerning my walk; and I was back home by 3:58 a.m.
My eldest stepson was to have his second consecutive 12-hour day shift, beginning at 6 a.m., so I ensured that I was shut up into my bedroom by the time he rose to ready for work. I did not want him to feel he had a green light to leave the door unlocked when he left.
It seems to me that I returned to bed barely past 5 a.m., if at all. And although my pattern of broken sleep continued, I was to remain in bed for a full four hours ─ clearly I was in need.
Concerning my earlier sleep, something of utmost peculiarity occurred during my time in bed. As I recall, I was in the process of shifting position to encourage further sleep when excruciating pain suddenly began to flood my left forefoot and toes.
It was as if some very venomous creature had bit or stung me.
The pain lasted a long while, although of course it did reduce, but I wondered on whether I would later be capable of the walk.
What I believe must have happened is that a fairly good-sized blood vessel must have burst ─ and entirely without me using the foot for any purpose whatsoever, apart from maybe stretching it a little as I shifted in bed.
I never rose to check on myself ─ what for? What could I possibly do about it? But I feel now that I have little choice but to buy and keep myself supplied with vitamin K2 if something like this can spontaneously take place.
When I very soon joined my brother for some T.V. and I put our Android TV Box to work, I led us off with the fourth and final chapter of the documentary series Cult of the Medics on Rumble. Since I now have no idea which source I used, I will link to a couple ─ here and here. The chapter was 1¼ hours.
The original source is here.
We next watched nigh a half hour of an interview by Tessa Lena at her Substack: Is Putin Evil? A Conversation with Alex Krainer.
Unfortunately it was going to be nearly two hours long (1:57:21), and was just a little too philosophical to spend that much time with, so I asked my brother if he wished to pass it over, and he concurred.
I then played four videos that I had previously recorded, only one of which was at all long ─ a YouTube-sourced episode of Z-Cars from series or season three, and titled Hide – And Go Seek. I have only just now discovered that actor John Thaw (Inspector Morse himself) figured fairly large in the episode, but I never even remotely recognized him.
I will certainly have to inform my brother at some point when he is sober ─ we watched every episode of Inspector Morse!
Alas, I am going to forego any further episodes of Z-Cars because they are too hard to keep track of, since very few of them are offered, nor in any kind of sequential order by what sources there are.
My wife had risen before my brother and I quit the T.V., and when he went upstairs for some bed rest, she had nipped out on an errand or two. I gathered together my day's first meal, but she was back before I was able to get at a needed nap.
No worries ─ I soon enough did. But first I was able to explain to a financial institution agent a problem she was having with her account ─ her English was too difficult for the chap, who himself seemed not to have English as his first language.
I also learned the welcome news from my wife that she had finally phoned the contact at a lawyer firm that has been exacting considerable payments from my wife for shirking a credit card debt for a half year. If I understood my wife correctly, the contact agreed to a far reduced payment amount. I will yet have to fathom just what is up in this instance.
My wife had to work in the latter afternoon, so she headed away on her fairly long drive around 3:15 p.m., if not a little later. I had napped earlier, during which time my brother left for the day to socialize.
I feel myself capable to tackling an evening walk, so I am going to get some further rest and then undertake it. Doing so will free me up to watch some late evening T.V. with my brother while enjoying a couple or so cans of beer.
We actually had some sunshine during the midday / latter afternoon, so I anticipate a dry go of it out there.
It is approaching 7:20 p.m., so I am going to consider this post completed. I will update my later evening in tomorrow's post ... provided all goes well for me, of course.
