Exercise Talk

My wife did arrive home last evening comfortably ahead of my younger brother, so she and I communicated a little, although I never brought up the subject of her passport renewal application that she had said she wanted to undertake on Thursday.

I will be sitting up late this evening, so I will let her know then that if she gives me the details on whomever she is going to use as her two non-family references, I will print out an application for her sometime tomorrow while she is away working.

When I heard my brother come into the house ─ it was probably after 10 p.m., but I no longer recall ─ I shut myself up into my bedroom, and soon enough retired with my cellphone alarm set for 5 a.m.

Around 3:25 a.m. I rose to use the toilet; and after returning to bed and realizing that sleep was not being easily achieved, I decided to delay the cellphone alarm to 6 a.m. After all, I was not going to be walking anywhere. I simply wanted to be up early enough to use the backyard tool shed for some pull-ups and chin-ups once it was light enough outside ─ although with the 1½ or more inches of snow that we have now, it's easy enough to see at any time of the night due to its reflective properties.

My 6 a.m. alarm actually roused me from some sleep. I went downstairs and fixed up a mug of strong coffee with the works, and took my time enjoying it.

It was well past 7 a.m. before I felt that I should get the exercising done, for I needed to do it before my brother had risen. But I had declined and become wretchedly stiffened. This led me to do some limbering exercises in the living room to seek a loosening of tightened joints and musculature.

I sure do wish that I had a proper chin-up bar to exercise with. All I have is a small child's ladder for a slide that was once used by my brother's young daughter who is now 31 years old and pregnant with her own child due maybe in May. I have it spread across some shed rafters, and I use its sides to hang onto to exercise with. Even so, the sides are too thick to actually grasp ─ I can only cup my hands overtop the sides, and this ultimately has a negative effect on performance. There is nothing like being able to solidly grip a true regulation chin-up bar!

And so my poor performance began with three sets of pull-ups (5-2-2), then three sets of chin-ups (2-2-2), and finally two sets of pull-ups between the two sides of the ladder (2-2) ─ all with a 30-count between sets.

I gave one further 30-count and attempted a loose dead hang, but by then my cupped hands could not sustain any kind of duration, so I gave up.

Back in the house I managed 14 slow full-range push-ups on the kitchen linoleum floor.

I am considering early on Sunday of visiting Walmart about a mile away ─ it opens at 7 a.m. ─ and buying an exercise mat to lie on to start doing floor exercises. Our carpets are too filthy to get down on for exercise, such as abdominal work.

Anyway, by 8 a.m. I had badly declined; and because I could hear my brother stirring about in his bedroom, I opted to return to bed for a while. He went downstairs for coffee and to watch T.V.; since I do not normally join him until after 9 a.m., I gave myself until between 8:45 - 8:50 a.m. before I rose once more.

And when I did join him and around 9:15 - 9:20 a.m. got his clearance to put our Android TV Box to work, I led things off with two very short videos published yesterday to BitChute's lababouche channel:

I adore the former Alberta gal in that second video, and who goes by the name Tajana Truthseeker. This is her X (formerly Twitter) account: TruthSeeker01011.

Next I tuned in an hour-long video published January 29 to Rumble's ShaunNewmanPodcast channel: #787 - Dr. William Makis.

Dr. William Makis, MD, is a Canadian physician with expertise in nuclear medicine, radiology, and oncology. He formerly worked as a nuclear medicine radiologist at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Alberta, contributing to one of North America's largest clinics for Targeted Radionuclide Therapy for cancer. Dr. Makis has conducted over 10,000 cancer diagnoses using sophisticated tools like PET/CT. Additionally, he has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in international medical journals, with a focus on nuclear medicine, PET/CT imaging, and targeted radionuclide therapy. We discuss all things cancer and treatments.

Note that the first six minutes of the video were irrelevant as far as I am concerned, so I set the link up to play from Dr. William Makis's introduction. Otherwise the video would have been an hour and six minutes in length.

The next video I tuned in was one we had broken from a few days ago at just over the 13-minute mark, so we continued on with the remainder. At 53 minutes, the video had been uploaded October 28, 2023, to YouTube's FD Ancient History channel: Megapolis - The Ancient World Revealed | Athens | FD Ancient History.

The small hamlet, as it was in its early days, was established on abandoned land in 3,000 BC. But in the 5th century BC, led by Pericles, it would be transformed into one of the greatest ancient cities. Athens would be the showcase of ancient Greek civilisation, a brilliant and unique civilisation whose influence would pass down through the ages. Let us discover how its magnificent architectural treasures reveal to us the lives of those who lived at the time, starting with the Parthenon, a monumental temple that was built in barely 15 years, followed by the Propylaea, the monumental gateway to the Acropolis. These buildings and places bear witness to the technical perfection, the beauty, and the modernity of the spirit of the civilisation that invented democracy. Around the agora, a place for debating, laws, and ideas, other magnificent buildings would allow for arts and Athens to flourish, the latter turning itself towards the sea, with the creation of the spectacular port of Piraeus, capable of housing the western world's most fearful sailing fleet.

Athens, Alexandria, Tikal and Rome: these legendary cities are some of the world’s most famous archaeological sites. And yet, they still have not revealed all their secrets.

Built as temples of knowledge, these extraordinary cities were the beating heart of the ancient world. How did they come up to life? What was it like to live there? How did they become such centers of learning and invention?

From the 5th century BC to the Roman Empire, this compelling documentary series will bring back to life the greatest ancient cities at the height of their powers. Combining stunning CGI reconstructions with contemporary footage of the vestiges of these sites, and with the contribution of renowned experts, this series sheds a new light on these architectural treasures and lost civilizations that laid the foundations of our modern world.

We did get into another video after this one ended, but my brother required his bed rest, so its remainder awaits another day.

I had a meal, and had still not sought a nap when my brother emerged from his bedroom to head off on an undisclosed errand or two. I was finishing up my nap by the time he was home again. Apparently he had phoned me, but my cellphone was downstairs being recharged while I napped. It seems that he and his girlfriend Bev were seeking to rent a storage facility for her belongings, and the clerk dealing with them could not get them registered without provision of an E-mail address, so he had called for one of mine.

Fortunately another employee was able to perform a workaround.

I forget now just what this unit will cost, but it may have been something like $149 upfront for the first month, and then $69 monthly thereafter. Far better than the $200 monthly my brother had been fretting might be the case!

Today was a full workday for my wife at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time, so she rose around 9:30 a.m. to begin readying and was off on her fairly long drive just past 10 a.m.

I suspect that temperatures today never climbed above freezing, so the snow is not melting away as yet.

I want to get out for a round trip walk of maybe 1½ miles so that I can deposit the monthly expenses reconciliation cheque that I found my brother had written out for me this morning ─ this time it's $215.56. Maybe on Sunday morning if I go to Walmart, I can also buy a pair of new boots. It would be fabulous if I could stumble upon a pair that will protect my left foot and not allow the recurrence of inflammation anytime I have even a short walk ─ plantar fasciitis or whatever similar is amiss with it, and for a little more than two months!

This was why I never had my early exercise at the nearby elementary school playground maybe three blocks from here ─ I wanted an evening walk, although I did not then have the purpose I now do of a visit to an ATM.

I am actually feeling rather weary, so I would like to lie down in darkness and rest my overtaxed eyes this early evening before I undertake any kind of walk.

So consider this an end to today's post. It is 7:02 p.m.
