Around the Corner

It is so damned hard sometimes to force myself to remain abed until my 7 a.m. alarm, despite getting to be very late last evening. Several times I wanted to have a look at the time, but I kept resisting. I had the 7 a.m. setting on the purpose of acquiring as much bed rest as possible for a change.

Yet at 7 a.m. I felt woefully illy rested and unrefreshed. It seemed essential to have an instant coffee and an aspirin if I had hope of tackling some token backyard tool shed exercises before my younger brother emerged from his bedroom for the morning.

I was successful.

All I bother with now are a single measured repetition in each of the two sets of pull-ups, two sets of chin-ups, and two sets of pull-ups between a pair of bars, holding the final pull-up's dead hang for (I think) a 60-count.

Then I used the two hanging ladder-like apparatus to support myself while attempting to bear as much of my bodyweight on my bent right leg as I can as I seek to regain the strength and function of the atrophied lower quadriceps muscles at my knee.

To this end I do a partial squat, first assessing that my left knee can support me unaided; then holding onto the rungs of the two apparatus, I try to do the same on my right leg, but it is impossible without the assist gained by holding to the ladder rungs.

I am speaking of apparatus like these:

I made four attempts on the bent leg in a one-legged crouch posture for as much as a 40-count each time, never coming anywhere near close to releasing from the assistance given by the ladder.

Is this disabling to be lifelong?

Then I performed the now usual 31 unassisted full flat-footed squats (two-legged, of course), holding the full squat of the 31st for a 100-count before forcing myself to rise.

I am still unable to recline myself and fully elevate the lower leg when I extend my right leg ─ the lower leg droops at the knee by a few inches at the heel. Still, it has improved considerably over time since the March 1st fall onto my knee that put me into this fix.

For a month or more now I have been doing some abdominal exercises involving leg raises and an alternating series of 'cycling' movements with my legs. It was only a few months ago that leg raises were impossible due to the weakness at my bad knee.

I have worked up to about 60 leg raises, and 110 of those alternating leg raises. In both cases, I do not allow my legs to do more than brush the floor if they contact it at all.

This was my youngest stepson's day to report to work at 'the office' instead of working from home, so he was on his way before my brother appeared from his bedroom around 8:30 a.m. to watch T.V. news and drink some instant coffee.

I joined my brother after 9 a.m., and upon getting his invitation to start operation of our Android TV Box, I led us off with a 29-minute (29:11) video published two days ago to Rumble's Libertytalkcanada channel: Canada To Become A Police State By Christmas! Say NO To These Egregious Incoming Bills! Interview.

Canada's Carney government is appalling. Important information from the Justice Centre.

Next up was a three-minute (3:51) video published earlier today to BitChute's Progressive Truth Seekers channel: No King, But Trump Is Jesus?

This was largely a Jon Stewart bit.

Also at BitChute was an eight-minute (8:04) video published two days ago to TheWarAgainstYou channel: Trump Stunt BACKFIRES on JD Vance... almost FATAL! SHRAPNEL FLIES.

It related to an artillery shell that unexpectedly exploded over a California highway during a military drill or some such.

I followed that with another eight-minute (8:28) video published earlier today at Rumble's Truths Unlimited channel: 🚨Trump Designates Cartels Terrorist Groups - Orders Military Prepare DRONE STRIKES.

President Trump has officially designated Cartels as terrorist groups — and ordering the US military to prepare drone strikes and special ops deep inside Mexico. This is the most aggressive move against the cartels ever!

Then changing gears, I tuned in Star Trek: Discovery ─ episode six ("The Sound of Thunder") of season two. I think that we both enjoyed this episode a little more than usual, although it was still plenty noisy.

And we finished with a little more of the War movie we have now given two sittings, but have had to suspend so my brother could seek further bed rest.

My wife had a full workday today at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time, so she emerged from her bedroom this morning after 9:30 a.m. and was away on her fairly long and sunny drive a little past 10 a.m.

The day seems to have been sunny.

I had my usual early morning nap ─ possibly after 1:30 p.m. ─ I certainly do drool a lot in bed!

Anyway, right now it is 5:37 p.m. and I am going to break from blogging so I can have a bath before my stepson gets home and takes possession of the bathroom. Then I will have some supper and watch a show here on my bedside computer. I shall report back later.

🔴🔴🔴

My naked weight prior to the bath was around 178 pounds.

I chose to only watch a Christmas movie ─ 2018's Christmas Around the Corner.

A superb choice it was! It was to hit me quite deeply, having me recognize anew that my life is worthless, especially now that I am 76 years old and struggling to get through each month financially, physically crippled, and essentially friendless.

I cannot recall lead actress Alexandra Breckenridge, but she is absolutely superb. In fact there was lots of great acting in this movie.

I am sorry to discover that the teen actress (Maya Harris-Harb) playing character "Alicia" seems never to have acted before nor since. I liked her.

I went through two cans of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol) and a glass tumbler of Domaine D'Or red wine (12% alcohol) enjoying this delightful story. My excellent source was this CineGo.tv link. I first tried it at this OK.ru link, but the video quality was too indistinct and the volume subdued.

I can't write in this state as I hear fireworks resounding outside on this fourth day of Diwali here where I live in a Sikh enclave of Canada formerly (and still) known as north Surrey. I feel no celebratory mood.

Besides, I plan to rise at 3 a.m. for the ¾-mile round trip hobble to the nearby elementary school playground for some exercising there.

My brother returned from his nigh daily bus transit to engage social drinking ─ he was back before I had begun watching the movie. He informed me that he had bought a heavy-duty tarp with which to cover our leaking backyard tool shed ─ twice now we have covered the roof with light-duty tarps, and the bloody last one didn't last too very much over a month before it had started shredding from exposure to elements.

What the 𝒻𝓊𝒸𝓀 use are tarps if they're only intended for indoors?

I guess we'll be going through the arduous chore tomorrow of getting this one overtop the roof. He's overweight and 73 years old and I'm 76 with a buggered right leg ─ yeah, it's lots of quick fun.

Enough. I must brush my teeth and start finishing up whatever I have left undone here on my bedside computer, and then get to bed.
