Megan Versus Whitney

Although I was not much feeling like it, I rose to my 3 a.m. alarm to begin readying for the ¾-mile round trip hobble to the elementary school playground for some exercise. If I am recalling this correctly, it has been a full week since last I was there or even walked anywhere, all due to a nasty respiratory infection that I noticed besetting me early last Tuesday afternoon.

The sky was heavily overcast and appeared to me to be able to begin raining at any point ─ the northeast sky was especially dark. And it was definitely on the chilly side.

I had not slept ideally, and my eyes were burning, but some responsibility for that could be the lingering symptoms of that infection. Incidentally, I noticed that my youngest stepson was coughing a lot last night.

Upon getting to the playground, I was completely caught off guard to find all of the equipment to be perfectly dry.

I had weighed myself before leaving home ─ fully clothed in my jacket I may have been no worse than 183 pounds, which is remarkably light fully garbed. I had only eaten once yesterday.

I had not engaged any pull-ups or chin-ups since last Monday ─ again, if I am remembering aright. At my age of 76, I lose muscle and strength remarkably fast if I lay off exercising.

Hoping that I would surprise myself in the planned half dozen sets of pull-ups and chin-ups, this proved not the outcome; or rather, the surprise was how deteriorated I was, despite my comparatively light weight.

In attempting the first set of pull-ups, I had to surrender my first try after barely getting my arms crooked. The triceps muscles felt especially strained and sensitive, as if they had not fully recovered from exercising yesterday or the day before.

So I took the usual 30-count that I normally take between sets, and gave it another go, this time managing the targeted three slow and measured repetitions characteristic of me when wearing a somewhat restrictive jacket.

All of my other sets had two repetitions. So in all: two sets of pull-ups; two sets of chin-ups, and two sets of pull-ups between a pair of half-rings.

Then I tackled a dead hang, managing an 80-count.

I am still having to use the youngest kids' playground because that of the older kids has still not been replaced since its complete removal in earliest July.

As usual, I finished up the exercising with 10 slow full-range decline push-ups on a nearby metal ramp before making the rather slow hobble back home.

I don't recall when I got back to bed, but it was quite possibly 6:15 or even nearer 6:30 a.m., and I was to remain abed until checking the time around 8:48 a.m.

I did not feel adequately slept at all, having eaten a very filling and heavily spiced (possibly a couple of heaping tablespoons each of turmeric and black pepper) soup I had created from fare my wife had previously provided.

My younger brother was of course downstairs watching his news shows, but I never joined him until maybe 9:10 a.m.

After his invitation to begin operation of our Android TV Box, we probably watched better than 15 minutes of a video that he then requested we abandon, so it was to develop that we only watched one other due to the second one's length.

At over two hours (2:07:17), it had been streamed October 30 to Rumble's The HighWire with Del Bigtree channel: Episode 448: TIDAL WAVE OF TRUTH.

Dr. Peter McCullough breaks down a landmark autism study that could rewrite the narrative. Jefferey Jaxen exposes the rise of the “Enhanced Games”—where steroids, implants, and AI meet competition—and a Florida bill that could finally reveal what’s behind SIDS. Then, Senator Alex Antic returns with an update on his brave pursuit of answers about the unpublished Henry Ford Health Study, the research central to "An Inconvenient Study.” Finally, Dr. Sherri Tenpenny joins Del in the studio to discuss her new book, her mission, and why she believes this moment could redefine humanity’s future.

Guests: Peter Mccullough, M.D., Steve Slepcevic, Senator Alex Antic, Dr. Sherri Tenpenny

At the video's conclusion my brother returned to his bedroom for further bed rest. Since I had already eaten, that was no longer before me. Still, I sought my nap sufficiently later that during it my brother had risen and left afoot for his bus to carry him off to do his usual daily social drinking.

My wife had a full workday at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time, so she emerged from her bedroom this morning ─ perhaps around 9:40 a.m. And less than a half hour later was away on her rather long drive.

In her absence this latter afternoon I availed myself of her bedroom for some light exercising.

Right now it is 4:48 p.m. and I am going to take a break to gather up a sensibly-sized supper and eat that. Then I shall be watching a show of some description here on my bedside computer while enjoying some beer. I might even watch a Christmas movie.

🟨🟨🟨🟨

I did watch a Christmas movie ─ 2018's Santa's Boots. What made this movie stand out for me as much as it did was leading lady Megan Hilty ─ what a magnificent powerhouse!

I am completely unfamiliar with the actress, but apart from her statuesque beauty, those gorgeously muscled legs of hers were truly striking ─ I do tire of a visual diet of long streaks of slim-legged actresses.

The story itself was sweet and enjoyable; and although I was not reduced to a bawling mess, I could watch this movie again in the reasonably near future in the right company.

My source was this OK.ru link, even though I noticed that it was available on YouTube. A subsequent check revealed that the video was not available in Canada, however.

I believe that the movie likely finished just before 7:10 p.m., and my brother was already home and watching T.V. downstairs with Bev.

Next I tuned in ─ entirely coincidentally ─ a Christmas episode of Rescue: HI-Surf. It was episode nine ("Aftermath") of the first season. My source was this GOOJARA.to link.

Between the two shows, I drank a tallboy (16 ounces) can of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol); and a regular-size can (7.9% alcohol) of the same brew. I have no idea why there is this marginal discrepancy in listed alcohol content.

As an excuse to add most of a glass tumbler of Domaine D'Or red wine (12% alcohol) to my intake total, I finished with an episode of Whitney ─ episode 14 ("Mind Games") of the first season.

My source with this CineGo.tv link.

Skinny Whitney Cummings is endearingly hot ─ no question. But a robust Megan Hilty can still 'steamroll' this old dude.

The show finished ... maybe around 9:50 p.m., and it was clear that my wife was finally home.

I have no early plans for the morrow, although I may set my cellphone alarm for 6 a.m. to best ensure I will 'normalize' sufficiently for a session of backyard tool shed exercising before my brother rises for the morning.

Right now it is 10:18 p.m., so I am considering today's post complete enough.
