My Eldest Stepson's Pre-Birthday Dinner Photos from Sunday Past

I perhaps overindulged in some drink early last evening while watching a Christmas movie ─ 2012's The Wishing Tree. I went through a can of Cariboo Malt (8% alcohol) and an undetermined amount of red wine. The wine was basically the dregs remaining in a four-litre box ─ I kept sucking from the spout until there was none remaining.

The movie was more of a good story than it was a typical Christmas movie, I thought. It just happened to be set at the Christmas break at a boarding school. Whoever wrote the one-sentence description of the movie at the link I offered must not have actually watched it, for the image of a "group of orphaned students" does not conjure up the reality.

There were only three students involved, and they were not orphans. Rather, they were three students who ─ for one reason or another ─ were unable to go home for Christmas and thus had to remain at the school over the holidays.

The lead character ─ Professor Farnsworth ─ was played by an actor whose handsome features were very familiar to me, but whose name (Jason Gedrick) was not. Jason did a decent job of the role, for I largely liked the character; I do not easily find myself doing so for male leads in 'romantic' Christmas movies.

The second character to get introduced in the movie was played by actress Teryl Rothery ─ she is very familiar to me, and even her name has a familiar ring. Initially it appeared that she might become the professor's romantic interest, but that was not the case. Her role was decidedly secondary.

The actual romantic interest for the professor turned out to be another teacher who was played by actress Erica Cerra. I felt certain that she was familiar ─ especially her eyes; but I could not recall from where. I understand now that I have often seen her in different series, including two where she was semi-regular: Eureka and The 100.

What's somewhat interesting is that one of the three students ─ a rich bad boy ─ was played by very familiar actor Richard Harmon. His name is unfamiliar to me, but I have seen him a number of times ─ including as a semi-regular in the aforementioned series The 100 that features Erica Cerra.

The actor usually plays villainous types, so he was a natural for his role in this movie. Nevertheless, I was appreciative when he had a change of character and repented of his rebellious and unfriendly ways.

It was especially gratifying for me when his character yielded to the charms of one of the other three students, a shy but incredible singer of Southeast Asian descent played by Emmalyn Estrada. What I did not realize concerning that actress is that she apparently hails from Surrey where I live!

But enough of yesterday.

After my usual few hours working here at my computer in the weest a.m. hours, I returned to bed around 5:15 a.m. where my wife was hopefully sound asleep.

She had to put in a full day today at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time, so when I heard her cellphone alarm sounding later in the morning, I figured that it must be around 9 a.m. and thus late enough for me to be getting up.

To my surprise, it was 10 a.m. ─ I am usually already downstairs by then getting set to watch T.V. with my younger brother via our Android TV Box which I alone operate.

I hurriedly dressed, but found that he was not downstairs ─ the T.V. was not even on. For the past few weeks, he has been nipping out to drive his girlfriend Bev to work, for she is presently working on a part-time basis.

However, he was especially drunk last evening when he got home, and was still sitting up well into the midnight hour before dragging his inebriated carcass to bed.

So I went downstairs to see if his van was here ... and it was.

He had not yet risen.

My wife has an 11 a.m. start on her full days, so between her bustling and the hubbub of her interactions with her two sons, he soon enough did get himself out of bed.

I had a downloaded video for us to watch. It was an hour and 22 minutes in length, but featured a man whose current doings are always of interest to us: A manufactured illusion. Dr David Martin with Reiner Fuellmich

Dr. Reiner Fuellmich is an international lawyer on a mission to put an end to this whole baseless COVID-19 scamdemic / plandemic / casedemic, so my brother and I are always curious on what is developing in that regard.

We are also familiar with Dr. David Martin, who himself is also possessed of a sharp legal mind.

It was an interesting enough video, even if it was from quite early this past July.

I want to mention that I feel better today than I have the past couple. Something was amiss with me ─ perhaps a virus was seeking to gain dominance, but it evidently failed.

Today was sunny. Had it not been so, and if the next two days were not forecast by Google as threatening some rain and thus will not themselves be sunny, I might have undertaken the four-mile round trip hike to the nearest government liquor store.

So instead, I opted to remain home and put in over an hour of sunning out in the backyard. I wore just my bathing trunks, but I never got started until 4:31 p.m. I had earlier enjoyed a needed deep nap from which I emerged so overcome with grogginess that I had to have a hot mug of my delicious caffeinated beverage in order to give me time to rouse.

Late into that sunning session, I noticed a cat resting on the lawn about a dozen feet from me. It rested there for maybe 20 minutes. I think that this is the fourth time that I have seen it within the past week, so I believe that it must belong to the new neighbours who moved in next door.

Our yard is dog-free, so it likely enjoys hanging our here when it feels like getting out of its own yard for a little bit of exploration.

I hope that it eventually comes to decide to be friendly, for I very much miss having a pet to fellowship with.

I have a collection of photos that I am now going to post that were taken two days ago (i.e., early Sunday evening) at the Cactus Club Cafe on Scott Road in North Delta. The occasion was my wife's eldest son's impending 27th birthday.

I won't bother repeating myself with every several photos. There were only four of us, so you ought to be able to figure out who she and I were; and which of the two lads was the youngest and the eldest (the birthday boy):

I thought that the photos were better quality than is the case ─ and I blame my eldest stepson. The photos had been taken with my wife's iPhone, and he used it to transfer them onto my iPhone5 (a much lesser model than hers).

He was having difficulty, so I think that he must have opted to do the transfer by sacrificing the quality of the photos.

I bloody wish that he had not ─ I expressly said that I wanted copies of the full, original images.

Oh, well. Had I not gone, i would not even have these copies.

Lord, it's after 7:30 p.m. ─ I must publish this post.
