The Good Witch

Early last evening I decided to tune in the 2008 movie The Good Witch, for I just recently watched the series finale of the T.V. series that was spun off from it (i.e., Good Witch).

The movie was so much different from what the series developed into, and I was only able to recognize four of the series regulars from the final seasons.

Obviously "Cassie" Nightingale was the same actress ─ Catherine Bell. But her character was just about entirely different. She was far more mysterious, for one thing. But she was also sexy ─ very much so.

Of course, the actress was 13 years younger, but she even used some sexy intonations in her speech.

The other three characters / actors were the mayor Tinsdales, and old George whose habit of calling everyone "Kid" in the latter seasons of the series was most annoying to me.

Martha Tinsdale (Catherine Disher) isn't the mayor in this movie ─ her husband Tom (Paul Miller) is. But do the two actors ever look different because of being so very much younger! Martha was almost slim.

I actually liked Mayor Martha Tinsdale in the latter T.V. seasons of the series ─ basically, she was a good soul overall. But the Martha Tinsdale in the movie had no redemptive qualities whatsoever ─ she was a conniving bigot, really.

And the couple had two teenaged sons. I am sure that they were probably both named in the movie, but I cannot recall what both of those names were ─ just one who was identified as being Michael. Thus, I have no idea if the son ─ Dylan ─ who shows up late in the series with his pregnant wife is supposed to be the other one of the two brothers in the movie.

As for George (played by Peter MacNeill), he is an almost flawlessly 'good guy'.

One character in the movie who was beautifully and believably played was the schoolboy bully Kyle. Actor Jesse Bostick did a magnificent and wonderfully menacing job in the role. I would have loved to have seen him ─ as a rehabilitated good kid ─ as a semi-regular in the series.

But enough of that ─ let's move on to today.

Not only has it been solidly overcast, but it began raining in the mid-afternoon.

Late in the morning I watched some shows with my younger brother, beginning with the Vaccine Choice Canada video from two days ago, Our Rights of Refusal with Rocco Galati, Tanya Gaw & Other Guests.

The host was Ted Kuntz; and apart from the two guests identified in the video title, there were also Dr. Stephen Malthouse, Paula Tucci and Vincent Gircys.

The video was nearly an hour and 40 minutes in duration.

I was hoping for more encouragement than was given. As a pensioner ─ and I feel confident my brother feels similarly ─ I didn't get anything useful out of the presentation / discussion. I still don't know how I will handle the coming 'vaccine passport' that is supposed to be instituted here in B.C. come September 13th once it is broadened to include retail stores.

And from the get-go, the 'passport' is going to affect my brother because it will include pubs and bars ─ he frequents those on a daily basis.

Often I wish that I had no family for whom I feel responsible. I can easily see myself fighting all of this to the death, rather than submitting to the tyranny.

I say that despite not having seen nor heard from my wife since she left for work late yesterday morning (such is our sorry marriage).

And on those two disturbing notes, I am going to stop talking for today and have a bath.
