The day ran away on me ─ this post will be exceedingly brief.
I want to mention that it began to rain around 4 a.m., and was still doing so when I went back to bed around 5:15 a.m. However, when I rose around 9 a.m., the rain had long stopped.
And by the afternoon it had become sunny. I even sat outside for over an hour from 1:29 a.m., but I was fully clothed except for bared feet. My wife was home, and my brother was resting following our morning session of some T.V. together. My eldest stepson was also home, not having yet left for his afternoon shift.
The sky was almost purely blue, so it was quite warm.
By the time I had come back into the house, only my wife was home. And since she had to work a half day today beginning at 4 p.m., she left me around 3:30 p.m. on her long drive to get to the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time.
I never had a nap today, despite needing one. This also happened to be bath day (I bathe every four days), so once again the delayed round trip hike of four miles to the nearest government liquor store has been put off yet another day.
I do not drive.
I suspect that my wife will be home the day tomorrow, so that day is also unlikely. I need to be able to ready myself in privacy for these ventures ─ it requires a fair amount of fussing, for I am very uncomfortable about going out into the public.
I also need to be rested ─ body and spirit.
We shall see how Friday develops, for my wife likely has to work a full day then.
Incidentally, yesterday I wrote of a new cat hereabouts ─ I suspect that it belongs to the new neighbours immediately next to us. Since our property is one of the few with no trace of a dog, it likely has decided to incorporate this terrain into its purview when its own yard becomes too boring.
The cat looks half-inclined to be friendly, but I am giving it free reign to make the approach. I haven't even spoken to it. However, even though it does not draw nigh yet, it does not appear to be skittish.
Well, today, I see that there is a second cat ─ an all-black feline. The other one is somewhat like a tabby. The black one doesn't appear to be a 'fraidy cat' either, but I don't try to make an approach. I did speak to it briefly this afternoon, however, as I was coming into the house from the backyard sundeck after noticing it near a fenced corner of the yard proper.
So time will tell what sort of relationship the two will form with us. And after all, I cannot speak for my brother, wife, and two stepsons ─ they may not be as inclined as I am towards the formulation of a friendship with the furry new neighbours.
The human neighbours may or may not be familiar with this area, so I rather hope that they understand that we do have skunks and raccoons around here. If the two cats are left outside overnight, there may be a confrontation eventually.
I saw a raccoon early Sunday morning a mile from here at most when I was on my grocery shopping expedition. It couldn't have been more than 6:20 a.m. at the time.
Okay, I've had my bath, and it is nearly 7 p.m. ─ and already the sky is overcast again. I am going to have a beer before indulging in a little supper, and getting to bed by 9 p.m. or so.
Oh! ─ one other thing!
I bit the bullet and paid the $35 membership fee to join the People's Party of Canada (PPC) for five years.
