It is already after 8 p.m., so I have no time to blog.
I just want to report that I completed the tax returns for my wife and I. Even without any additional tax credits (I gave all of mine to my wife), I am getting a refund of well over $900 ─ which is down nigh $600 from last year.
In 2021 I began collecting RRIF payments that had no tax withholding, so that has penalized me ─ extra income with no income taxes taken.
My wife, however, despite getting over $1,000 worth of charitable donations (mostly mine), nearly $2,000 of medical expenses (over $1,900 were mine), and $200 of federal political contributions (mine), she owes over $1,600. This approximately matches what she owed and did not yet pay for last year.
I used the free GenuTax Multiyear Tax Software that I used for filing last year, so there is no mathematical error in any of the calculations.
I feel so damned downtrodden.
She is not home, so I am going to wait until she gets here to ensure that she doesn't have any other possible medical expenses or charitable donations squirrelled away before I NETFILE the two returns.
The only other item I wish to report is that early last evening I finally watched the series finale of Last Man Standing ─ and I am so glad! I am no Tim Allen file, and only watched the series because of the supporting cast.
I despised Tim Allen's character's endless sarcastic manner. I would not long suffer such a prick in my life if I did not have to.
Again, I am so glad to be finally done with the abominably long series.
