Being tied up with my younger brother watching T.V. twice daily on most days has not allowed me to have much communication with my wife when she is home.
That was the case last evening when she was finally home from working the full day at the Thai restaurant where she has part-time employment; and it was so earlier today when I was involved with him through the latter morning until just after 1 p.m.
She didn't come downstairs until late into the morning; and once my brother and I were done with T.V. and we each sought some bed rest (my wife was busy in the kitchen), I rose from a good nap to find that both my brother and my wife had each gone.
He heads off every afternoon to 'socialize' somewhere. As for my wife, I had no idea where she had gone ─ it was very possible that she had simply gone off to do some shopping. However, by early evening she was still not back, so I was left with the real possibility that she was gone for the remainder of the weekend (she spends much of her weekends somewhere in Vancouver).
And so I still have not been able to speak with her about her income tax return ─ I completed both of our returns this past Wednesday using the free GenuTax Multiyear Tax Software, but as yet I have been unable to get a clear grounding on whether she may have any further charitable donation receipts to supplement the $90 in total that I have on hand of hers.
I know full well that she donates to the Buddapanyanuntarama Buddhist Monastery (BBM) in Burnaby ─ possibly anytime she visits there. She does not regularly attend, but she does go there quite a few times a year for various special occasions.
Since I believe that she owes over $1,600 in income taxes for 2021 ─ effectively doubling her already longstanding debt from the previous taxation year ─ she needs every edge that is possible in order to get a reduction.
But I want to submit our returns and be done with them for this year. Perhaps I am just going to have to text her and plainly ask if she has any proof of having donated more than $90 to the monks last year, for that is all that I have proof of.
In other matters, temperatures hereabouts have been remaining well above freezing. We had some rain overnight, but the morning was a mix of Sun and cloud. The afternoon became predominantly sunny, though there has been an annoying strong, chilly breeze that forced me to shut the window in this room upstairs where I keep my computer.
Yesterday I wrote about how a backyard toolshed exercise session I had that latter morning featured my strongest showing at pull-ups / chin-ups since before my "COVID pneumonia" last October that put me into the hospital for over 11 days.
I had become essentially bedridden here at home before finally submitting to family urgings to go to the hospital.
I had to retrain myself to not only just walk, but to be able to stand even with assistance ─ I had wasted away so dramatically. I lost so much weight that the last time I was that light, I was no more than 16 years old (I am now 72).
I've got my weight back, but the gains in strength took time. I can't claim to be as strong as I was pre-illness, but things are definitely promising.
Early tomorrow morning I want to take a long hike to do a little grocery shopping ─ a round trip of 5.625 miles as I have it worked out. I hate being out in the public, so when I make these hikes, I do my best to hit the store as soon after its 7 a.m. Sunday morning opening as I am able.
To make this as comfortable an enterprise as I can, I will want to rise tomorrow morning at 4 a.m. in order to give me as much leisure to prepare myself for the venture as is possible.
Anyway, as I have alluded already, my evening is underway; and since I wish to have a bath, I am going to consider this the conclusion to today's post.
