It was likely a trifle after 10 p.m. last evening when I put myself to bed ─ my younger brother had failed to arrive home from his 'socializing' before the 9:30 p.m. deadline that I have in place for him. I had plans to be rising at 3 a.m. for a five-mile walk in the Whalley area, so I did not much mind being able to get to bed this early.
I imagine that my wife must have shown up around the same time as did he, for she had worked the full day ─ beginning at 11 a.m. when the Thai restaurant employing her had opened for the day. Since she and I now have adjacent 'bedrooms' ever since early November, I am essentially unaware of her movements once I have retired for the night.
Fortunately, I did not have an inordinate degree of trouble getting to sleep. And that is likely why ─ when I later found myself disappointedly awake and then checked the time around 2:20 a.m. ─ I was relatively complacent about rising well ahead of my 3 a.m. cellphone alarm.
I was somewhat reluctant to be heading off on my walk too much before 3 a.m., so I expended some time here at my computer, which is next to my bed. My eldest stepson was evidently still up, but he seemed unaware when I surreptitiously exited the house and ─ with the front door locked behind me ─ I set off at 3:03 a.m.
I held to my usual routine of stopping at an elementary school playground both early into and towards the end of my walk, for I like to attempt pull-ups on the gymnastics-style rings that are part of the equipment there. The plastic-encased rings were dry, but definitely extra cool to the touch. The night air was indeed chilly, for the sky was primarily cloudless.
When I was leaving the school property at a far end, I had to pass within 20 or so feet of a skunk that was rooting in the lawn grass.
My full route's boundaries this morning would have been 132nd and 140th Streets, and 104th and 96th Avenues ─ I have the centre point indicated on this Google Map. Just note that I never walk any of the indicated boundary roads for its full length, generally preferring quieter side streets within that outer grid. And I expect that I do exceed the five miles, for I do a little bit of backtracking at times.
Anyone observant might notice that the grid's boundaries actually total four miles if followed entirely as laid out. However, I add a mile by traversing the half mile span from 132nd Street to King George Boulevard and then back to 132nd Street, before then departing it and continuing on to 140th Street.
I avoid covering the same route within that four-mile grid as much as possible in order to dodge the risk of making the walk unbearably boring.
I was back home and outside the locked front door by 4:58 a.m., so I was away a little under two hours. Without going into any detail, I will say that I did experience some inhibition in the workings of the longitudinal tendons of my left foot and the muscle sheathing alongside the outer shin area of that same leg in the region above my ankle. There is no real pain involved, but the affliction inhibits my foot's ability to rise up onto its ball when I am stepping off. This forced me to take a slower pace than I needed to in terms of my normal gait.
The house was in darkness when I got back. I was to remain up until near 6 a.m. ere getting back to bed to seek what further sleep might visit me.
I suppose that my morning commenced just past 8:30 a.m. My brother was already downstairs watching T.V., but I waited until around 8:50 a.m. before heading downstairs to boil water for a mug of instant coffee with 'the works' before I joined him.
When he soon invited me to put our Android TV Box into action, a video of some note that I was to eventually tune in was an interview performed by Liberty Coalition Canada's Michael Thiessen that was uploaded to Rumble on April 9 ─ it was nearly 1¼ hours in duration: Mind Polluters: How Schools are Grooming Your Children Through Sex-Ed.
In this week's episode, Mike sits down with Mark and Amber Archer of Fearless Features (https://www.fearlessfeatures.org) to talk about their new documentary Mind Polluters (https://www.fearlessfeatures.org/themindpolluters).
Tune in to hear the awful truth of what your children are learning in school.
When that interview was done, it was time for a movie ─ 2010's Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. My brother was not impressed that this was what I was intending, but he held his tongue and seemed to succeed in becoming sufficiently invested in the story and its action.
I didn't realize that it was nigh two hours long, but it was over and the closing credits begun ere 1 p.m. Unfortunately, my brother went on up to his bedroom to rest for his afternoon / evening shenanigans, so he missed a brief epilogue to the story that appeared shortly into the credits.
The movie was interesting enough. Probably one day we will watch the sequel.
I checked out three of the featured actresses (Alexandra Daddario; Rosario Dawson; and Katherine Keener), and have recorded their names as potential future sources for movie and T.V. entertainment.
Incidentally, I found a flawless link for the Percy Jasckson movie in the free Stremio app that I have downloaded into our Android TV Box.
I want to mention that late this morning, before I yet had a thing to eat, I stripped right down to nudity and weighed myself: 192 pounds, approximately a pound less than yesterday.
Anyway, following an early afternoon meal and then a nap, I rose to find that my brother had gone. What I did not realize was that he was going to bus out somewhere to drink with one or two of his drinking buddies, so I cannot expect him to be returning home by 9:30 p.m.
This means that I won't be sitting up this evening with him and enjoying a couple of beers while we catch up on an episode each of two or three of the T.V. series we follow.
But he may surprise me (I just do not believe he will).
My wife had to work another full day today. As she was leaving this morning around 10:15 a.m. for her fairly long drive to get to the restaurant, I enquired of her about having a day off ─ she used to only work three or 3½ days during the week, but for the second consecutive week now she seems to be putting in all five weekdays.
Her response as to when she would be having a day off: "The weekend".
